The offensive line got worked over last night. Broken record.

The defensive line got owned. Broken record.

What wasn’t a broken record was the sideline-to-sideline rib-rattling play of rookie middle linebacker Kwon Alexander.

While various veteran offensive linemen came to the defense of the offensive rookies, there was no need to defend the play of Kwon.

That’s because Kwon was a beast. He laid the wood to several ballcarriers but none will be remembered like the hit on Josh McClown.

Last week, when Clinton McDonald was on SiriusXM NFL Radio, he told former Bucs defensive tackle Booger McFarland that Kwon says when he hits people he wants the victim “to feel him.”

Joe asked Kwon if he thought McClown would be feeling him this morning.

“He should,” Kwon said. “Man, I love to hit, man. You’re going to see that from now on. When you see me, you’re gonna see me hit. [I was trying to] bring the momentum up. When we have the momentum, we play well. So I was just trying to make a play and just help my team out. I made the play.”

Joe has a feeling Kwon is going to become a fan favorite. Yes, it is very early in his career, but damn, if Kwon doesn’t remind Joe of another bone-crunching, quick Bucs middle linebacker of the past, Hardy Nickerson.

Oh, right, guess who Kwon’s position coach is.

“I’m just blessed, man.” Kwon said.

Kwon knocked the taste out of his mouth.

  2. Ray Rice Says:

KILLA KWON! ……I still got faith.

  3. FortMyersDave Says:

Looks like Kwon was a steal in the 4th round and I can recall that some of the know it alls covering the draft did not exactly give the Bucs high marks for selecting the kid from LSU////

  4. Buccfan37 Says:

Interesting story about Kwon by Ronde about Kwon still being available in that draft spot and some insider telling the Bucs to draft him. On another note, what does Lovie use to get his head so shiny? Man, that looked like a mirror.

  5. Simpleasthat Says:

Piss poor protection on both teams. Good thing the bugs have plenty of salary cap money to sign a kicker.

  6. NewTampaChris Says:

Love the way he plays. It would be great to have him be a pleasant surprise out of the draft. If he can develop like David has, we could have a great Mike-Will combo for years.

  7. Buccfan37 Says:

Man, it’s great to talk here about our favorite team, our favorite players and our favorite place to do it. Thanks so much everybody! I’m not worried about the Bucs, well a little bit. Familiarity leads to success. Go Bucs!

  8. tdtb2015 Says:

He will be the Heartbeat of this defense. By the 3rd qtr. of the season teams will fear us. I still think 8-8 is reachable.

Man, I am stoked for Hardy. What a treat must be for him to be back as a LB coach. With LVD and KA for him to groom. Watching them grow must be the closest thing for Hardy to feel like he is out on the field on Sundays.

Playoffs and Super Bowl will be accomplish under Lovie and Licht. All we need is more experience. The foundation is here just not solid yet.

You can celebrate the pain or enjoy the growth. Not being oblivious of the groin pains, I choose the latter.

    Go Bucs!

In Lovie and Licht I TRUST!!!

Please dont make the year any longer than it has to be….here we come 5-11

Another great player from LSU. Geaux Kwon!

  11. what? Says:

Maybe we should draft a few more guys on D. The one….it seems to have worked out well enough.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

He’s the ambassador of Kwon man

  13. StPeteBucsFan Says:

So I was just trying to make a play and just help my team out. I made the play.”

YEEEHAAA!!! That’s the name of the game in the NFL!! The teams are so evenly matched that games frequently turn on who makes the play. We could have won four more games last year if we had simply made a play…like not fumbling a first down catch in OT to set up the other team…hanging on to a game sealing int instead of giving the other team another chance…and even the coaches couldn’t make a play…12 men on the field.

MAKE A FREAKNG PLAY…..I’ve been wondering who my favorite player would be this year. Like many here I like Mongo….but I’m becoming a HUGE Kwon fan. Yeah baby make a play and make em feel ya. LOVE this guy!!!

  14. SOEbuc Says:

Im just pissed cus I went to the bathroom and when I came out there was a line of players stretching out to Tampa Bay Blvd to S his D. I think it was for layin the smack down on Mccown. Wish I could’ve seen that

What growth? Do you think this team looks better than Schiano’s team?

    I don’t.

  17. Abdominal Snowman Says:

Genghis Kwon has EARNED his spot. The kid is relentless and beat out a veteran free agent acquisition. Hardy better teach this kid everything he know! Him and LVD could be a dangerous combo for years!

  18. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Do you think this team looks better than Schiano’s team?

Seriously 87? Start at QB! ME blows away Mike Williams. Kwon Alexander blows away Barrett Ruud/Mason Foster…NO head cases.

This team is far better than Schiano’s.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

    StPeteBucsFan…roster wise…yes. Coaching-wise NO.

  20. Buc1987 Says:

I take that back…I’m not even so sure roster-wise right now.

  21. Nodak Pirate Says:

87 I usually agree with most of what you say but you are way of base on this one. The team under Schiano was a basket case. The talent we had was on its way down. The guys we have now are young, talented and aggressive. They will make mistakes and they will make big plays. They will grow together and gel and form a core group that will lead this franchise back to the playoffs for many years and hopefully a few championships.

I will root for this team good or bad.
I will wear their logos proudly here in the middle of Viking territory.
I will bleed red and pewter.
I will support our coaches, our management, our owners and our players even when they make boneheaded moves.

THIS IS MY TEAM AND I LOVE THEM!!!

87 is still hammered from last night!

  23. Jason McLaurin Says:

Kwon Alexander is beginning to look like a rookie of the year candidate and plays with huge power behind him. I think what they really should start adjusting is the SAM spot. I would like to Bruce Carter get that nod at SAM because hes the more athletic player at that spot and I think Lansannah is replacement level honesty but hes good for the roster this season as well to play Special teams.
