Koetter Vs. GMC

Bucs DT Gerald McCoy talks about the intelligence of OC Dirk Koetter.

Bucs DT Gerald McCoy talks about the intelligence and tricks of OC Dirk Koetter.

Joe really enjoyed the words from Gerald McCoy discussing the Bucs offense.

Who better to talk about it than GMC? He goes against the first team every day in practice.

It sounds like Bucs offensive coordiator Dirk Koetter and GMC have been involved in gamesmanship. Koetter is trying to get the best of GMC while GMC is out to prove he is up to any tricks thrown at him.

“Coach Koetter as a coordinator is excellent and his intensity in particular is hidden from the public eye, but we get to see it because we are out there with him every day,” GMC said. “He doesn’t take anything [being wrong]. If the break in the huddle is not good enough, he is going to let you hear about it. Then it’s just about having the right pieces in place and putting guys where he needs them to be. He’s just so intelligent.

“Even in camp switching some things up to neutralize me and he would always give me the eye, give me the wink. He’s got a counter for everything and that’s great to know. We got a tiny, tiny glimpse of it on Monday. Hopefully we can just keep building on it.”

Perhaps the most important hire the Bucs made this offseason, after deciding to draft America’s Quarterback,” Jameis
Winston, was to hire Koetter.

So we just got a taste of what is to come last Monday night, eh? Then Joe is looking forward to the future; that is for sure.

You know what they say Joe, Third time is a charm!!!! So before the first game in the second season Lovie is on his 3rd Offensive coordinator, I hope this one works out and stays around!!!

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

Koetter is learning all the time also. The fans can see and sense the results so far.

  3. Sapp, STFU Says:

We have Keotter all season. If he performs as well as it appears, he will a HC candidate. Hope we don’t lose him.

  4. Joe Cool Says:

    Super Bowl or bust.

  5. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Really? It appears to many of us you would be quite pleased if he were your head coach. Do you actually hope Koetter really does well? I’m an inquiring minds I would like to know. Because it gose without saying if he’s successful(which he will be)then Lovie Smith also will be successful. Where you stand Realist!!!

  6. Dean Says:

Holy crap guys. Here you are worrying if Dirk is successful, he’ll go somewhere else to become a head coach.
This damn team was 2-14. The worst in the National Football League!
Right now, we’re looking at success as 6-8 wins this year. That won’t get him a head coaching job. But follow that up the second year into the playoffs and maybe so. I’ll take it.
Let’s not worry about losing him, until the Bucs cut out the losing and actually start to produce WINS.

  7. CalBucsFan Says:

My thoughts exactly Sapp STFU, if Koetter’s successful, then he’s a short timer in TB, sure hope GM Licht is grooming someone in under Koetter.

  8. Fsuking Says:

Hey realist. You do realize that some people have medical condition that keep them from doing stressful jobs. I have been out of work for 3 months with a heart condition. You don’t have to be a douche about everything to make your annoying point.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

“He’s got a counter for everything” Yes Gerald – that IS good to know.

Whether we win 6 games this year or 10 – watching football will be FUN again for Bucs fans.

I can’t wait for the regular season to start. Bring on Marcus and the Titans.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

Im not that worried..if..scratch that.. when we make the playoffs it will be because of the defense and the running game..thats buc football and that’s lovies style of play..GO BUCS!!!

  11. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

I would love to have that problem. We will deal with it if it comes. For all we know, Bajakian might be the next guy. He OC’d at UC and Tennessee. Not sure if he was calling plays or Butch Jones.

Let’s get to .500 ball before we worry about losing coaches. Jeez.

Ive been saying it for years….the most important peice to any team in this league in this day in age is its ability to score poibts on offense. Yes defense does win games but defense cant stop any team every sunday. Koetter is the most important individual on this team. That will be validated if and when winston is ever hurt and everyone witnesses Mike Glennon marching the offense marching down the field. Koetter needs to be locked down as the head coach before someone else snatches him up. If I were the glaziers the first hint that another team is offering him the gig I would respectivley show lovie the door or a demotion which he likley would not take. Koetter…..The Savior of the Bucs offense

You promote the OC numbskulls make me laugh. For one have you even checked his head coaching track record. Do know you if he even has aspirations of being a head coach? It’s like some of you a holes complained about not having a qualified OC last season now that we have one you wish him to be gone. Like wtf kinda fans are you mofos. What you dumb a$$es issue is he’s about to make the current head coach look real good and don’t like it. Eat ya f@$!in hearts. Thank the football Gods for one Lovie Smith.

  14. OneLove Says:

What a Great Hire by a bunch of COMPETENT, SMART, GOOD LOOKING, SEXY, DID I SAY COMPETENT!!!?!?!?!?!? GUYS!!

“It’s as simple as that” – Lovie Smith aka “Mr. Competent”

  15. buc4life1979 Says:

Literally SALIVATING over the potential of Koetter in charge of our offense. First REAL TRIED AND TRUE HONEST TO GOODNESS O.C. we’ve had since Chucky.

  16. The original "Kevin" Says:

Nole your a fokcin idiot. Read what you just typed. Who the hell said they want him gone? If he has no desire to ever be a head coach than we are living in a perfect world for our team. But most ocs and dcs jump at the chance to get a head coaching gig. Then you have jack offs like you who get on here and twist peoples words and bash them for giving theyre opinion. Get a life and take your johnson out of the vaccuum cleaner you a$$ clown. You gotta picture of lovie hanging over your bed or something? I love the situation we are currently in….but its too good to last long term. You dont have anything better to do with your time than trying to make yourself feel bigger than everyone by criticizing theyre input???

  17. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

It would be nice if we got an unknown who still has to prove himself and he’s just lights out from the getgo. Have a great OC for years before moving on. That’s enough fantasy island, good things like that don’t happen to the Bucs so if we can keep Koetter 2-3 years then we’ll have to be happy with that.
Hey Nole though OGKevin just straight blasted you and took your hole card I was gonna say in a more kinder and gentler more brotherly love kinda way………YO NUGGA WUT DA MOFO WRONG WIT YOU GIVIN THA LITTLE HOMIE DA BIDNESS FOR ARTICULATING THE MENTAL PROCESS THAT BE GOIN THRU HIS CEREBRAL CORTEX. AIN’T YOU READ DOCTOR PHIL SAID YOU CAN CRUSH HIS INNER CHILD? But I didn’t want to go overboard with it so I will just say……..sir you may want go back and reread the young gentalmans eloquent ensemble of words and punctuation so that way you may ascertain for your intelligent self that he truly meant something of a whole different wsy than you took it.

  18. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

First of all David you can’t get blasted on line homie. I don’t even know you dudes look like to take any thing stated on here persnally homie again this some online chit dude. But to address what stated he said at the first hint from another team he would if he was Glazer demote Lovie and promote Koetter. The dumba$$ didnt state whether or Lovie would deserve to be demoted. Like what was the a$$ hole really implying. Let me guess Lovie could win this seasons superbowl, but the fact that another team showing Koetter interest it would be wiser to demote or release the coach that just won the superbowl for the guy who was OCing. Hmmm what a dumb a$$ way to go about business. But hey david if you can relate to that type of intelect so be it bro.
