GMC Embraces “America’s Quarterback”

Salutes "America's Quarterback."

Salutes “America’s Quarterback.”

There is one true alpha dog in the locker room of the Bucs; one true leader; one go-to guy to get the pulse of the team. His name is Gerald McCoy and he is the best player on the squad (with apologies to the next-best player, Lavonte David).

So when GMC talks, he is basically the voice of the team not named “Lovie Smith.” He is respected by the front office, the coaching staff and players.

Yesterday, GMC gave his complete and total blessing to “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, and stated that what you saw at Florida State is the same quarterback you will see with the Bucs. A winner.

“Jameis is Jameis,” GMC said. “I mean, he’s been that since he was in high school. People have been saying he’s going to be a star for the longest (time), and he proved it in high school, came in, did it at Florida State – he’s not going to do anything different in the league.

“Every day I come in – I come in pretty early, in between 6:30 and 7:00 – he’s already in the locker room, working on his abs, doing his core work with one of our strength coaches. I mean, already. That means when I walk in, he’s already in the (middle) of it, that means he’s already been in, changed clothes, done everything necessary. Then he gets to meetings early, does everything he’s asked off the field as well as on the field.

“He puts in all the work necessary and has all the tools to be a great quarterback, so I think he’s going to do the same thing he’s been doing, and that’s be successful.”

That just about does it for Joe. When GMC states you are doing the work and are dedicated, what more is there to say? You think GMC is going to stand up and con people about a guy? Hell, no.

As Joe stated yesterday on Twitter, if Jameis plays in a game anywhere near the way he practiced yesterday, many a Bucs fan will be buying turnover-prone Josh McClown a Christmas present.

I sure hope he doesn’t burn out.

Love the hard work, though. And to be a success at that position at that level, it starts with hard work.

I have some hope. For the first time in a long time, I have some hope.

Burn out??? What’s with that question,I’ve never heard it associated with a rookie QB before. Now this American Bad A$$ comes along and right on que we talking bout burn out worries. Really. Dag I recall being 21 the amount of energy I had was ridiculous. Burning out was the last thing anyone had to worry about me doing.

If he were coming in at 8 or 9 there would be a mutiny on site.

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Nos-Bos

They didn’t when J-fro was coming in way later than that!!!

But of course Nole we know he has to do twice as good as some regular Joe schmoe for some people to not complain about him. There are a number of people who prove that they are just waiting for him and Lovie to fall flat on their faces so we can get someone else in there running the show!

  6. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

Yeah they did Whiniest you were just too blind to read it. Lovie wasn’t but Raheem and Freeman were. Wow!!! What a cowinkadink! Raheem & Freeman and now Lovie and Famous Jameis! You just can’t catch a break can you Whiniest? There’s 20+ teams you can be a fan of where you don’t have to see that kind of connection. You know what I’m sayin? Jump ship now and save us all from your boorish drool!

  7. Eric Says:

lets just hope he doesn’t throw any more of those devastating practice interceptions.

Eric and David stop man😊. I do my best everyday not to take it there. But trust me sometimes it proves quite challenging not to do so.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

GMC knows that in a QB driven league, Jameis has the talent and dedication to get this team back to the playoffs and hopefully beyond. This is what McCoy yearns for – so he’s all in with Winston.

But you know what though Lord C called him “The One”on another article. He is in my opinion more so because of his mind. That’s what they take shots at,its fear because they’ve never seen this type of mind. But what they fail to realize is their is a “warrior spirit” with this young man. They fail to realize all the shots they take at him only enhances the size of the MONSTER that dwells within him.

    LOL NOLE!

  12. buc4life1979 Says:

“Get burned out?” To this day, has Brady, Brees, Manning (Peyton), Rivers, or Rothelisberger ever seem “Burned out” to any of you guys??

  13. Sean Says:

Last year Peyton looked pretty burned out by then end of it….but I get what your saying

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Nole…and I was calling him The Chosen One before the draft even started. I’m going to all caps now and I really don’t care if anyone is against it.

JAMEIS WINSTON IS THE FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK THIS TEAM HAS NEVER HAD.

    PERIOD!
