Doug Martin Regained Vision

August 15th, 2015
Seems RB Doug Martin has his vision back.

Seems RB Doug Martin has his vision back.

Joe had heard all about the new Doug Martin. Joe saw a noticeably leaner Muscle Hamster in training camp.

But would that translate into a game-situation? Joe believes it did tonight in Minnesota.

Martin had but 19 yards on five carries, mostly due to — all together now — not much blocking. But on one play, where he ran for eight yards, Martin showed the vision he lacked last year.

Joe has written time and again how Martin, for reasons unknown, way too often would take a handoff, duck his head and try to bowl over defensive tackles and linebackers when there was (not often) running lanes on either side of him.

Problem was, since he ducked his head, he never saw that daylight.

Tonight on his longest run of the evening, Martin ran right and was met with a wall of humanity. So he reversed to his left and had a nice gain.

That type of vision was not there last year. This year, Martin proved he has his vision back.

Doug looked pretty good… However with this line he is going to have to break a lot of tackles… Good luck with that…

  2. Lakeland Buc Says:

Doug Martin will be a 1,000 yard back this season, but we need to include him in the passing game.

Even though it was preseason game, it was still stressful to watch it. Defense again looked weak in the middle coverage, and weak pass rush. Teddy Bridgewater looked good and a first round pick was not needed to get him.

  4. D-L Says:

Pawel, that doesn’t even make sense considering he was a first round pick.

AC/DC loving GM Jason Licht needs to hit free agency and get us some help…especially on the Offensive Line if we are going to have a prayer in the run game. Or the passing game.

Did anyone happen to see our secondary around Tampa? Cuz they sure weren’t in Minnesota! Unless you count Ronde Barber in the broadcast booth.

I was happy to see Doug back to his original form. Was tired of reading those negative stories on him. I am ready to go see him have a great season. I do own alot of D. Martin autographed RC cards. When they go up, I will try sale. Them.weeehh

Doug Martin looked good, Charles Sims was ok,Bobby Rainey looked good, Mike James looked good as a receiver. That’s why i’m not concern with this game, I know Jameis could have threw to the backs more. This was a meaningless game, just wait until the season start. The Bucs will win the NFC South this season, you heard it first from me. When the REAL game is on the line, Jameis will get it done. GO BUCS

Still averaged less than 4 yards a carry.
That his been his problrm. One carry for 8 yards, one for a 4 yard loss.
I hope he rebounds. I really like the guy. But he has shown bad insticts, and lack of burst for last two years.

If he does play well this year- is it olny because its his contract year?
