Burger Joint Report: Dotson Out For Year With ACL Tear

August 17th, 2015

Everything Joe has heard from key sources about Demar Dotson’s knee injury claims the Bucs’ right tackle is expected back on the field in a couple of months.

But a new and different report from a former Bucs guard is making the rounds quickly on Twitter.

WDAE-AM 620 host and ex-Bucs offensive lineman Ian Beckles is sharing upsetting news about Dotson that he learned from a local waitress.

Beckles is a big name and this stuff gets around fast, so Joe thought compelled to address it.

Joe sure hopes it’s false and not a case of Dotson getting a different medical opinion from his own doctor.

  1. Stanglassman Says:

If it’s a ACL tear at his age he maybe done with football period. I hope this rumor isn’t true.

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

I’d gladly pay you Tuesday for a shot at the O line today.

  3. thunderchunkyPA Says:

CRAP, the ONE spot this team could NOT afford to lose talent was the O Line. I hope to GOD that D Smith and Marpet are the real deal. Pamphile looked like he can play, Edwards as well. Ok, time for the milk cartons to become prime time players.

  4. Pillage n plunder Says:

Fingers crossed this isn’t true….worse part of team dealt a big blow. Let’s hope that Cheribus is in decent shape and can pick up the offense fast!

  5. Name Required Says:

Next year’s draft should be all OL and DE.

  6. Joe Says:

Yes, joe has heard from a trusted Bucs source Dotson will return in a couple of months.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

In his press conference, Lovie just said it wasn’t a tear and surgery wasn’t necessary. Lovie is pretty guarded with his language and there would be no reason for him to be deceptive…..I think the rumor is probably false.

  8. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Actually TBBF there are some very good reasons in this situation for Lovie to be deceptive. They will get fleeced if the Bucs try to swing a trade for a lineman and it’s known that Dotson is out for the season.

  9. DallasBuc Says:

With the dubious sht that falls out of incompetent Lovie Smith’s head it is fair lean on the word of a burger waitress!

  10. Supersam Says:

Bucs won’t have to sign him to a big long term deal now. Might be a blessing in disguise. Sorry Dotson

  11. Pickgrin Says:

Hope this is not true – Dotson is not that great of a lineman – but he’s the best Tackle we have currently – which is not saying much.

  12. Joe Says:

In his press conference, Lovie just said it wasn’t a tear and surgery wasn’t necessary.

Same guy who crowed Mike Glennon was the quarterback of the future?

And yes, Joe was sitting right in front of Lovie when he said that about Dotson. Photo on Joe’s instagram account.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @TouchDownTampaBay

He had already been signed before the comments…..and Lovie could have simply stuck to his original script but made a point of saying he wouldn’t need surgery…..so if you are correct….it wasn’t purely deception….it was an outright lie….wouldn’t shock me…but the optimist in me wants to believe that Dotson will be back……but he can probably kiss a long-term large contract goodbye

  14. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Well me too. The line looked bad Saturday night and I would hate to lose the best player on the line.

  15. rayjay1122 Says:

I tore my ACL in 2007 while at football practice and the way Dotson was acting as well as his teammates, I think it is an ACL. It is extremely painful when it happens but you can limp around on them after the initial pain subsides. In fact, since I was just playing semi pro and did not get an immediate MRI, I actually was able to run a little on it after about a week of rest but it just was not 100% and that prompted my MRI. I hope he only has a sprain but my gut says ACL. Regardless I hope for him that he has a speedy recovery. If it is an ACL I feel really bad for him. That is not a fun injury to get repaired nor to rehab.

  16. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Say it ain’t so, Joe!!!!😡

  17. Danati74 Says:

Why would the be so deceptive about the injury? I mean let it be known hes out for 6-8 weeks or out for the year. I dont understand the issue of lying about it.

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m not necessarily doubting it, but it sounds pretty ridiculous that we are getting the scoop from the waitress at a burger joint. And why would Dotson even be going into a burger joint today? Wouldn’t he be either at One Buc, or at the doctor’s office?

  19. buc4life1979 Says:

I can’t believe Beckels went with the waitress line.

  20. LargoBuc Says:

So Ian Beckles, who I beleive to be full of himself anyway, is reporting that a waitress claims Dotson told her he tore his ACL? Sounds a lityle off to me. Plus it contradicts every other report I have read today.

  21. Lakeland Buc Says:

This should be a good O-Line this season.

  22. BucMania Says:

You mean the same Beckles who never has anything positive to say about the Bucs.. And he heard from a friggin waitress.?. The same Ian who still is negative about McCoy after he called him a bust. The dude is worse than Shaun King.

  23. America's D-Bag Says:

My butler told me that Beckles is a talentless hack and should stick to whatever it is he does. Swear fo’ God!

  24. Greg Says:

I guess the guys at WDAE have forgotten what happened to ole Dan Silly-O a few years ago for reporting off-the-wall crap!

  25. Gt40bear Says:

As much as I don’t care for or believe Beckles, it WAS Lovie who said sprain not tear so…

  26. Buc1987 Says:

I think I’m going to trust the waitress before I trust Lovie on this one….

Time for another Lovie confidence poll Joe…

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Ian comes on JBF all the time. So perhaps he’ll splain himself about this one.

  28. BucTrooper Says:

I’m sick of Ian Beckles and his guesses.

And let me just say on Madden 96 for PSOne, he continually jumps off-sides.

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Ian Beckles source is a waitress. ROFL!!!!!!!!

    Give me a break.

  30. mark2001 Says:

My son got his in football…his Ortho said when you have to carry a tough guy off the field because of the knee. it is usually an ACL….Had surgery…three months PT rehab, three after…may go in and have a meniscus transplant next year…and certainly isn’t able to play football anymore. Hopefully that isn’t the case with Dotson, but he is a pretty tough guy, and at first blush, looked like an ACL to me.

  31. Tom S. Says:

So if Joe started coaching a team with a mediocre young QB who had some success as a rookie and immediately went out and got the guy he wanted to run his team who happened to be 35 what exactly would Joe say about the young QB. Would he say he’s a scrub and getting cut? Would Joe have handled a situation where he wasn’t interested in playing the young QB that year any differently?

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo was getting some tacos and his waitress told him that the Bucs were considering bringing in Anthony Munoz to help shore up their Oline”

  33. DallasBuc Says:

So if burger waitress is right and Dot is out for the year will the incompetent Lovie Smith apologists and excuse makers defend him for disseminating more false dubious sht?
