“A Different Doug Martin”

August 28th, 2015
A new Doug Martin?

A new Doug Martin?

The past two seasons, largely because of injuries, Bucs running back Doug Martin has been pretty much invisible. In both seasons, the Bucs’ offense struggled terribly.

Coincidence? Joe doesn’t believe coincidences.

Then Monday night, the Bucs offense looked sharp against the Bengals. Not surprisingly, Martin had a helluva game and was key in the opening 80-yard touchdown drive for the Bucs.

In this TBO.com video, TBO’s Olivia Stacey and Woody Cummings of The Tampa Tribune discuss the reborn Martin, and the evolution of America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.

Now did you really think this would be just about Doug Martin? You all should no better by now.

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

Improved and promising O line play, rejuvenated run game to take the heat off of our QB who will find the open man downfield. Touchdown Tampa Bay! Fire the cannons! It’s coming.

  3. Lakeland Buc Says:

Doug Martin is from Boise State, and Dirk Koetter was Boise State Head Coach before Doug got there. I think that Koetter saved Doug job, and I feel that they have a close relationship. Also this is Doug first time working with a true NFL OC, he has to be excited. I’m excited for him, he has the talent to be a top 15 back. He just need to stay healthy and motivated. Dirk Koetter see’s a lot of Maurice Jones-Drew in him, MJD had some good years under Koetter.

Which comes first: improved OL play, or improved RB play?

I’d say the OL is vastly improved over last two seasons and it shows in better RB play…

Not discounting Martin at all—no doubt he’s a different guy body, health and attitude—but the two need each other.

He should of never shunned the Muscle Hamster within him… Seems to me he is once again embracing it and is going Hamster Balls through the league this year… Unleash the Muscle Hamster!!! Such an AWESOME nick name… Best of ALL TIME (ORIGINAL, SUBTLY INTEMADATING AND FREAKISHLY FITTING!!!) Embrace it Doug! Or would you rather a lame weak mighty mouse tag???

  6. JAB83 Says:

Artist challange!!! I’m gonna work on a mighty mouse vs Mussle Hamster drawling/poster!!! Coming soon (I hope, If I can do it right)

  7. Another J Says:

I’ve been trying to the doubters, Doug Martin didn’t forget how to run the ball
Give that man a real offensive line, and a competent coordinator, and Watch him do work!

    @Lakeland Buc

Thanks for a very informative post. I had forgotten about the Boise State connection and your MJD comparison is also spot on.

Or- he got in shape, because its his contract year.
Which means- after we sign him, we can look foward to several more out of shape, invisible years.

Always concerns me, when a player “Miraculiously” shows up in shape, and with mysteriously recovered ball skills- on a contract year.

Soo, last two years he was 15 pounds overweight why?

I agree with Lakeland Buc that Doug Martin is playing better is because he is from Boise State, and Dirk Koetter was Boise State Head Coach before Doug got there.
I think Doug Martin pushes Koetter, and Koetter pushes Martin.
    That old Boise State Pride.
Now, all we need to do is dye the grass at Tampa Stadium Blue 🙂
