Bucs-Titans A Desirable Game

Jameis makes rotten games compelling TV.

Jameis transforms rotten games into compelling TV

If Joe were a neutral NFL fan stuck in, say, the Midwest, or a perpetually half-drunk fan in the Keys without strong ties, Joe would care about watching compelling games, you know, matchups of strong teams.

Bucs hosting the Titans? Ha! Time to start pouring the liquor.

But in some circles, that opening-week game between the two worst teams in the NFL last year is compelling, so writes Paul Kuharsky of ESPN. In fact, Kuharsky believes Bucs-Titans might just be broadcast into quite a few TV markets outside of Florida and Tennessee.

If it was a noon game, no. But it’s a 3:25 p.m. CT game. The competition is Saints at Cardinals, Lions at Chargers, Bengals at Raiders and Ravens at Broncos. CBS has the doubleheader. That Baltimore-Denver game will be the one most of the country sees, I feel certain. But Florida and the Pacific Northwest will be wide open, and with the strong interest in Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, I think Titans-Bucs will be on in those regions.

Yes, it’s the power of “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. He has captured the hearts and the loathing of football fans throughout the country. Depending on your point of view, Jameis is either a godsend or the ultimate villian, the classic wrestling heel.

Jameis may be the most vilified pro athlete since Barry Bonds. As a college athlete, Jameis far surpassed Christian Laettner as an antagonist.

Damn, Jameis is a breath of fresh air. And Joe is so, so, so happy he’s here in Tampa Bay to rescue the franchise and restore its relevancy.

Yes last season I bought tickets to the home opener in the 300’s. I never planned on even going up there. I just wanted to get into Ray Jay on the cheap. Walked around the stadium watching the game at various points of view until we were told to move along. So that was a bad idea, because by the 3rd quarter we were exhausted from all the walking. We decided to just go up to our seats and chill. Wow what a long climb when you’re already drained from the heat and excessive walking.

Once I was up there though the seats weren’t all that bad. You deffo can see the entire field much better. Trouble is the product on the field was HORRIBLE. We left the game at the start of 4th qrtr. It was too painful to watch. As we left I turned to a group of fans and said. “We let Schiano go for this?” amd “This team is 3 years away from being anything decent.”
Shaking my head in frustration and it was only the home opener.

I’ll be there with My custom made Mariota Buccaneer jersey! Rooting for the bucs to WIN!

I’ll be watching on TV, missing the in stadium vibe and excitement. I will still be excited at the start of another NFL season for the hometown Bucs. You guys yell yourselves hoarse for that opening win.

  10. Buc1987 Says:

Buccfan37 ….as you might know, I never leave the game with my voice still intact.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Curtis…I’ll certainly look out for that.

The network would have a ratings bonanza by broadcasting this game nationwide. Evenly matched teams are always a better game than match-ups that are potential blowouts.

My initial impression of this game (rosters vs intangibles) when the schedules were first announced was based on my overwhelming desire for Jameis to get revenge for the Rose Bowl beat-down.

After further review, I have found the intangibles AND roster upgrades to favor the Titans.

    GULP..!!

I used to go to games with my brothers, back when you could sit anywhere that was open. My older brother was a stickler for staying until the last second ticked off the clock no matter the score, most often with the Bucs trailing and the contest was really long over. We used to sprint to the car to beat some of the crowd leaving. Those times and games I will always remember.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Buc37…yep I remember those days. You could buy cheap seats, move down closer and no one said a word to you. I guess they were just happy we were there at all!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll be there from NC……will buy a couple of tickets just prior to the game…..and….yes, there will be many to chose from. I start by offering $100 for 2 club seats…..work my way down….have never had to sit in level 3….and usually get the West side.
Usually I am able to purchase well below the purchase price….now that’s good for me and not so good for the Bucs.
Regardless….I will be anxious for a victory.
My record before last year was 16-2…..I went to 3 losses last year….so now it’s 16-5….not too bad.

  16. LargoBuc Says:

Man I would love to go to a Bucs game. I love my home team. The vibe must be great when were not getting blown out, or were 1-6

  17. Buc1987 Says:

TBBF…I’ll give you my cell number before you go. We can have a beer together!

  18. cmurda Says:

    @37 and @87,

Ahh, you flashed me back to the good ole days. The metal benches that were about 400 degrees. Who needs cushion? The Old Sombrero baby. The place we suffered irrelevance until the 90’s. I’ll never forget shutting Barry Sanders down and winning that playoff game at home. It felt like we had just won our first Superbowl. Brad Culpepper flying the Bucs flag proudly as we all relished the franchise defining win.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

Strider …you’ll be right near me. Yes it’s the north end zone. I call it “The Baking Zone”. Bring some sour cream and butter. I’ll be in section 150 wearing my Jameis FSU jersey, a Bucs hat, and Bucs shorts. All Buc’d out!

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I hate it when CBS airs the games.

  27. 1st Bucfan Says:

I’ve been a Buc’s fan when Tampa got its Franchise. Tampa would have a bonanza if the game was coast to coast. No. 1 & 2 or 2 & 1 QB what more can you ask for ? GO BUC’S.
