Winston and family speak

Jameis Winston’s great aunt talking on Bright House Sports Network last night served up an unpopular look at young Jameis.

That’s right. It’s not often that Jameis’ academic achievements in high school and college hit the spotlight. But that’s what family is for, right? Joe recommends this video from reporter Katherine Smith, who was live in Alabama last night.

His aunt talked about Jameis’ 4.0 grade point average in high school, and quoted a 3.8 GPA at Florida State.

She also went on to explain how Jameis’ granny has taken negative press about Jameis very hard. The family appreciated “the tears from his grandmother,” she said, and reiterated that she was the reason Jameis spent his draft night around hundreds of family and friends in Alabama.

Here’s a link to Jameis himself holding a news conference outside his Alabama home.

Flash plug-in? Is that still a thing? Who knew.

Im glad he chose to be with her during the draft. Those saying he shouldve been in chicago just dont get it. The guys can choose to be where they want to be, its THEIR day! She couldnt travel, but that doesnt matter to me. His decision period. The end.

I don’t think that the draft skipped a beat at all by not having the players there in Chicago. It may have made a difference during their pre-draft gold carpet show but I didn’t feel that anything was lost by having players stay home.

I enjoyed the local BrightHouse perspective…back and forth with the remote

  6. Supersam Says:

Hey joe no article on Winston being told to take down his Instagram picture? Weird cuz it’s all over the news, suggesting he was being malicious about it and could even face legal problems. Or are u choosing not to post it? Hmmmm

  7. pick6 Says:

it irks the analysts and the media. the TV guys and the sportscenter anchors made a few annoyed references to the absence of the QBs. but guess what? it’s not their day, it’s the players’ day. I’m in no danger of being drafted by the NFL on account of my age and general absence of athleticism, but if i were in those guys’ shoes i’d have chosen the same thing. The NFL will have plenty of time to leverage Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota in their playing careers, it’s acceptable for it to not begin on draft night.

Supersam clearly doesn’t know the meaning of the pick. Captain of deadliest catch his party 50 pounds of crab legs. Because at Derrick brooks event he asked Winston to help auction of a king crab and he said yes. In return he sent him crab for his party. Do your research supersam dumbass

  9. St. Pete fan Says:

With the “face of the franchise” persona that you’d hope he has enough to brains to try to become, when the damned crab legs showed up at the door they should have gone straight into the trash. ….Just one person’s opinion!

    I thought you were leaving.

  11. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Supersam doesn’t acknowledge the whole story anyway, so what’s the point in writing about it?

  12. rayjay1122 Says:

Supersam, get your facts straight when you hate!!!

  13. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @St. Pete,

I’ll tell you why he’s doing the right thing. He is going to get tormented by opposing fans because of the crab legs thing. That’s a given. Hell, he’s probably going to get tormented by his own teammates. The best way to get past something like that is to laugh about it, and show everyone it doesn’t bother you. It’s much less fun to tease someone about something when you know they aren’t bothered by it. It’s even less fun if you realize they are making money of of it.

  14. Buc Fan #237 Says:

So he says that actions speak louder than words… then proceeds to post picture of himself with crab legs.

I guess being a thief is just a silly mistake… not an action to be used to judge his character.

  15. John McKillop Says:

These kids have the rest careers to cater to the NFL, the draft is nothing but a dog and pony show anyway. If these kids feel it is more important to stay at home and celebrate with family and friends who have been with them every step of the way, then that is their choice, and I might add a very good one. It is time to unite Bucs fans and get behind this guy and drop all the bull crap! Go bucs, onward and upward.

  16. Bob Digital Says:

Is Supersam still a thing? Geez, move on bro.

  17. Jim Says:

He looks like Freeman in that pic. Soooo glad he took #3.

  18. Capt.Tim Says:

Why would Jameis go to Chicago, and help attract viewers for BSPN and NFL network- the same two lousy organizations that lied and exaggerated about all of the incidents Jameis faced- just to get viewers!

Screw both of them!! It’s good he stayed with the people that loved him. I wouldn’t have allowed the S.O.B’s in my yard!
Both of them misrepresented the truth again this morning- just to trash him- they are still doing it.,
He owes them nothing- Mershawn Lynch is the smart guy.
