Mocking

April 19th, 2015
Former Bucs QB and current Yahoo! Sports talking head Shaun King did his mock draft for the Bucs. All rounds.

Former Bucs QB and current Yahoo! Sports talking head Shaun King did his Bucs-specific mock draft and has Stanford OT Andrus Peat coming to Tampa Bay.

You have a mock draft, Mike Mayock has a mock draft, Charles Davis has a mock draft, the drunk at the bar has a mock draft. Damned near everyone but Joe has a mock draft.

So why shouldn’t Shaun King?

King, one of but three quarterbacks in Bucs history to lead the team to an NFC Championship game, now talks football for Yahoo! Sports and did a complete Bucs mock draft for the tech giant. King, of course, has Jameis Winston coming to town.

Tampa Bay’s second-round pick is offensive tackle Andrus Peat from Stanford, per King

NFL Films Xs and Os guru Greg Cosell is a gushing supporter of Peat, and here is how Lance Zierlein of NFL.com breaks down Peat.

Big and powerful with a right tackle’s play strength and demeanor, but enough foot quickness to protect on the left side. Peat has the physical tools to be an upper-echelon run blocker with pass-protection ability, but he needs to improve his technique in order to protect with consistency. Peat has been well-coached and is one of the most game-ready offensive linemen in this year’s draft.

Sure doesn’t sound like this guy will fall far enough for the Bucs to grab him in the second round. Perhaps a trade back into the first round to grab Peat is in order?

Joe wouldn’t mind having this guy on the roster.

Yes to Peat!……but will he fall into the second round?

  2. Dick2111 Says:

Draft Tracker has Peat ranked second only to Scherff, and ahead of Humphries, Collins and Clemmings. No way he falls to the second round.

Shaun King’s mock draft is nothing more than a wish list.

  3. meh Says:

Peat will never be there in the 2nd round. That draft site he used has some whack player ratings.

If Peat or Flowers are there in the 2nd, we should hand in the card as fast as we possibly can.

  4. meh Says:

The trade downs are ridiculous on that site too. Look at King’s draft. He got WInston, Peat, and 2 future first rounders and he didn’t even trade down until the 4th round. Buhahaha.

That draft simulator site is awful.

  5. Phillip Says:

Just like Dorsett won’t fall to the 3rd… He’s insane.. Dorsett in the 3rd round is a steal.. The kid is a poor man version of TY Hilton but can return punts and kickoffs… He might as well throw it away and stick to something he actually knows.. I’m not sure he knows what that is.

  6. Phillip Says:

    @Meh

I don’t think he mocked us getting two future 1st’s I think it is used as trade ammo if he wanted to have us move up and grab another player in the 1st.

  7. Barry Says:

Who cares, mock drafts are over 90% wrong projecting the first round, 1% correct for the entire draft. 1% correct equals experts? Haha

    #DP #HGH #PEDs #BrainDeadRetard

  8. meh Says:

No, Phillip. I’m familiar with that site (played with it a bunch). It does ridiculous trades, and that’s what he’s ended up with. That’s how they formatted the results. He scored 2 future first rounders and got Winston and Peat. That site has … issues. It’s fun but not remotely realistic.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

This is where my trading back up into the 1st falls in place. If there’s a stud LT that might be worth doing it, I hope they do it. Then go DE in the 3rd.

  10. SteveK Says:

    Meh,

That site shows two future firsts, the 2016 and 2017 buccaneer picks. If King had two future firsts, then you’d see 4 first round picks.

Phillip is right on this one, brah.

  11. Bird Says:

Maybe lovie should ask Shaun king to sit in on draft. Not bad. Dunno if third receiver situation would happen when biggest need is oline to protect rookie qb (Jameis). Don’t think there is any question that bucs either move back up into 1st round or take with 2nd round pick-best oline man (mostly likely tackle); unless a stud DE slides far enough to take that early.
I think they go safety in first few rounds instead of third receiver

  12. brandonbucfan Says:

I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU EVEN WASTED TIME WITH THIS OTHER THAN YOU NEEDED FILLER FOR SUNDAY AM. There is now way Peat falls to us at 34. There will be a run on OL between 19 &28. We don’t have the ammo to jump up into that mix. There should still be 3 starters at 34…Smith,Ogbuehi, and Fisher. YOu can grab one of them or even TRADE DOWN a few slots and STILL grab one of the. DE in 3rd and OG in 4th.

  13. ATrain Says:

    Breaking News later today:

Winston met with Goodell and told him to give the Bucs the 2nd overall pick also So we get two first rounders

The only catch is Winston is making the Bucs take a Crab Fishing Cheerleader at #2..

  14. DallasBuc Says:

Mock drafts are as stupid and as much a waste of time as people with their season record predictions. It’s some silly pretend clarevoyence that sweeps across sports media and fans like a fever if arrogant stupidity. It’s one thing to think based on need or availability one might take a range of players at a certain spot in the draft or if a team has an incompetent HC/GM they might not win more than 2 games all season (ahem) but actual future telling is not a real thing…tough as that is to swallow!

  15. BuccaneEric Says:

I definetly can see the Bucs trading the 2nd rounder. I’d be ok with trading down in the second of we could pick up another 3rd but it would probably be a 4th.Trading back up into the first might cost us a 3rd or 4th depending how high in the 1st we go. If we do trade up it better be for an Offensive lineman.

  16. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Sure, mocks are mostly wrong….except for the first pick. 😉

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Correct ODB except for the first pick AND especially when all the mocks are saying it’s the same player, week after, week after week.

Then again most mocks had the Bucs taking Evans at #7 last draft….hmmm.

  18. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Peat has been my favorite all along! His father played seven years in the NFL and I always like players who come from a great bloodline. See the Matthews family in football…Griffey and Bonds in MLB…the Sutters in hockey.

Like everyone else here though I believe there is no way that Peat fall to the second round!

Having said that remember our pick in the second is like a late first round pick on only two spots lower. If Peat falls to the low teens or somehow as far as 20th I’d do whatever it takes to get him.

If the Bucs came out of this draft with a franchise QB AND a franchise LT the draft will be a huge success.

BTW I like Peat’s chances of becoming a franchise LT better than either QB becoming a franchise QB. Not to say that Fameis and or Marcus won’t become great QB’s…just that the odds a bit better for Peat being a slam dunk then either of them.

  19. BuccaneEric Says:

I’ve heard that a lot of the “experts” have been saying Peat gets pushed around a lot and is on the ground more than a man his size should. I’ve never seen him play so I don’t know. Just what I’ve heard.

  20. MadMax Says:

Ive been preaching about him, and we WILL have to move up for him…..and theres next year’s picks that we could possibly use.

  21. MadMax Says:

Winston is coming to Tampa! Any mocks saying otherwise have mental issues. Anyways, Peat would be an awesome pick up…..and VERY worthy of using a next year’s pick to move back up for him.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Ah……Shaun King…..Mock Draft…..not bad, but….

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

  23. CJW Says:

Your score is: 7590 (GRADE: A)

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 1: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State (A+)
Round 2 Pick 2: Landon Collins, SS, Alabama (A+)
Round 3 Pick 1: Tre’ Jackson, OG, Florida State (A)
Round 4 Pick 10: Anthony Chickillo, DE, Miami (Fla.) (A-)
Round 5 Pick 26: Jamison Crowder, WR, Duke (A+)
Round 6 Pick 8: Tyler Varga, FB, Yale (A+)
Round 7 Pick 1: Martrell Spaight, OLB, Arkansas (A-)
Round 7 Pick 14: Kyle Loomis, P, Portland State (A+)

    Your Future Picks:
    2016 Round 1 Pick
    2017 Round 1 Pick

Shaun King is lazy because that game is easy. Notice how he doesn’t post his score.

  24. LargoBuc Says:

No way Peat is there at 34. It will be a miracle if Humpheries is there! Let alone Peat.

  25. Nick Micciche Says:

Sorry meh, you are indeed wrong. You definitely didn’t use that site “a bunch” if you didn’t notice the 2 future first round picks. They provide you with your team’s picks plus two future first round picks for use as you deem fit.

CJW, love your mock aside from only taking 1 OL. I know you are drafting that way to score higher points because of BPA but try to do it again with BJ Finney in the fourth haha. Good mock regardless.

  26. John McKillop Says:

Hey Joe, I don’t have a mock draft either, because I’m not a damn Gm. I only know one thing we need a quarterback and I don’t care which one and o-lineman. that’s all I know and care about as far as the Bucs are concerned.
