Jameis Can Make Bucs Famous

April 27th, 2015

Jameis Winston

Joe understands a lot of fans slam their empty beer glasses on bars in frustration that the Bucs don’t get any “respect” from national TV networks.

Well, Joe can see both sides. TV networks are in business. And to make money, they need to draw eyeballs. The Bucs, with garbage at quarterback in recent years, and terrible losing records, were just the opposite of what networks wanted for primetime.

Not only did the Bucs lose, they weren’t even entertaining, the worst of all combinations. Well folks, that should change come Sunday. The “Custodian of Canton,” eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune, thinks if Jameis Winston can develop, the Bucs will be must-see TV.

How nice would it be for the Bucs to be relevant again? Imagine network executives actually wanting the Bucs to be on their airwaves during primetime?

That is what happens when you get a primetime quarterback.

Is it too early to welcome young Jameis to Tampa Bay?

    With open arms Joe.

  2. Destinjohnny Says:

The guy has no line to work with.
The people in charge havent shown the abilty to bring in the right players.
    Tell me i am wrong

  3. delson Says:

Let me back u up right there joe. SUCCESS will make us relevant. No matter who we draft or if we trade down. Lasting success will make us relevant.

  4. jfat Says:

As long as the relevancy is due to the team’s on field performance and not TMZ, it’d be real nice to hear the Bucs being talked again.

@Dustin – There is still a lot of time to address the oline. I’ll hold on being concerned about it till after the draft and 2nd round of FA.

  5. GorillaBuc Says:

Bro no Line right now but after the draft I see them drafting Two to three lineman easily

  6. Destinjohnny Says:

my bad i thought they drafted two last year and signed three and traded for one

  7. jfat Says:

Yep, drafted 2 last year…both were project type guys, could be we have an answer on the roster already if either or both of them step things up in year two. Old saying is you can’t grade a draft till year 3, can’t just write those guys off already.

  8. WalkdaPlank Says:

This is something I completely agree with. Although very negative attention comes with it, which some Bucs fans might not be used to.

  9. BrianBucs Says:

I’m afraid that Winston will make the Bucs famous for all of the wrong reasons. Kind of like a train wreck that everybody wants to stop and look at

  10. Underdog Says:

Some of the most famous people in the world are people that continually get laughed at

  11. Lord Cornelius Says:

Andrew Luck has had a terrible line since he came in; shuffling more starters than anyone last year.

QBs can make lines look a lot better with quick & smart decision making / ability to set the protections correctly & read defenses.

O-line should still be priority #1 after Winston regardless.

Guest suite above Gerald McCoy’s garage is awaiting his arrival……

Could you imagine how many Monday night games New England would have if Brady would sexually assault women? According to this theory. #TheWinstonEffect

  14. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

just as long as the Bucs don’t become as big s laughing stock as the Browns became over Manziel. Sad that a solid season for the Browns got overshadowed by stories of the “franchise QB” flaming out and going into rehab, a nitwit GM who likes to text at the wrong time, and a WR who can’t avoid suspensions. Hopefully the Bucs don’t get that kind of national attention, the MRSA/Freemangate meltdown/0-8 season had enough negative drama for a lifetime.

  15. The Don Says:

    All hail King Jameis

  16. tval Says:

Rub it in, joe. They arent even taking bets on jameis going #1 anymore. Wanna talk lock? 🙂 congrats real bucs fans, you hit the football lottery.

  17. DallasBuc Says:

As draft day approaches I increasingly get more nervous that the bobblehead GM and his benefactor will draft someone other than Jameis Winston. After all the poor talent evaluation and decision making since the Incompetent One was hired at the start of 2014 I have zero confidence that these bozos are capable of making the right call here.
Joe and 1987, how can you guys be so sure considering who is in charge of making this decision?

  18. MarshallU Says:

If somebody at OBP has a stroke of genius or a change of heart, there are a LOT of people that will have egg on their faces, mainly the local media and mockers who do nothiong but just pile on to what other people have already said

  19. DraftJameis Says:

    Anyone seen Erik from CleanAthletics?

  20. Dick2111 Says:

@delson: “SUCCESS will make us relevant. ”

Agree 100%. Winning is what fans care about. 2-14 might win us the #1 pick in the draft, but it doesn’t put butts in the seats as we’ve already seen.

Assuming that the Bucs draft Jameis, he’ll become old news real fast if the Bucs go 2-14 again this year.

Fact is, he’d be a rookie on a team with a lot of holes. If the Bucs are going to win games, they’ll have to surround him with a lot better players than they did McCown and Glennon last year. Right now I’m more interested in what we’ll do with our 2-4 picks in this draft. Either QB at #1 pick would suit me just fine.

pete and shorty’s will have to name a burger after him.
the jameis Winston burger. joe can have his first interview at pete and shorty’s with jamies Winston. they can hang an autographed jameis bucs jersey on the wall. the bud light girls can ease the tensions in the room so jameis feels more comfortable. joe can post his interview on the nfl network. joe will be the go to guy for jameis interviews in the future. jameis, jameis, jameis , jameis, jameis….

  24. DallasBuc Says:

    Bucutalkinbout- my condolences!

So sad that the poor man had to just die because his favorite pro team drafted an actual quarterback with talent. Too much for the old ticker I guess!

  25. WalkdaPlank Says:

Read what he said again. ^^

  26. DallasBuc Says:

Walkdaplank- he wrote twice and I read it wrong both times. Doh!

Can’t really say anything about the Browns being laughing stocks as they won more games last year than the Bucs have won in the last 2 years. I agree though that Winston could make the Bucs replace the Browns as NFL laughing stock #1

That Winston burger would be called “The Interception” You order it then the waitress takes it to somebody else

That’s awesome. He will be TB’s QB in just a few days.

  33. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

After months of being skipped over in mock draft coverage, I actually watched a lot of NFLN today because they covered the Bucs more.

Although, the Titans, as usual, got the most coverage.

A lot of rumors out there too. Most are false, but still fun to talk about.

  34. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    The Don Says
“Some full blown racists in here.”

I just wasted my time reading all the comments to see what racist remarks could have led you to say that. Not a one.

Until I came to yours. Therefore, I see only one racists here. YOU.

  36. Connor Says:

Even when we had playoff seasons in 2005, 2007 and had a 10 win season in 2010, we still weren’t talked about.

I think that’s what people are referring too. No matter what, the Buccaneers are irrelevant whether they’re good or bad.
