Wisniewski Exits Tampa

March 11th, 2015

jason licht 0126[UPDATED] Joe’s excitement for a young, healthy, quality offensive lineman was extinguished tonight when Joe learned about 9 p.m. that free agent visitor Stefen Wisniewski left Tampa without a contract.

To make matters worse, Joe was first to break the news on Twitter.

Roy Cummings, the renowned Tampa Tribune beat writer, followed up with Twitterings that the Bucs were on a fact-finding mission with Wisniewski and haven’t written him off.

All Joe knows is a live one is off the hook. And Joe was so looking forward to the “Wiz.”

As Donald Penn told Joe last night, Wiz is no guard, and Joe suspects the Bucs didn’t like hearing that straight from Wiz.

Update 12:16 a.m.: Per Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, Wiz is headed to Seattle to meet with the Seahawks, a team which happens to have an opening at center. Feel free to do the math on this.

They didn’t like hearing that from Zuttah last year either and we all know how that ended.

Then again, maybe the Sucs identified what the Raiders’ did and let him go without much of a fight?

Either way, this Tampa O-Line is a GIGANTIC SH*T SHOW!!!!!!

I don’t care if they spend every single draft pick on the line; this is cause for alarm.

May god help whatever QB(s) is lining up behind center in 2015.

    Go Sucs!!!!!

  2. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

So far, I’m not too disappointed with the moves. Bruce Carter and Chris Conte aren’t huge signings, but they are better than what we had before. Clayborn, Collins, Johnson, McClown, Goldson all gone. Not too thrilled about Foster leaving, or Koenen staying. Glad they retained Rainey.

But they need to pick up some O-line. This was a huge loss. I believe Jake Long is still available for LT, but it doesn’t seem the Bucs are interested.

  3. bucsfaninchina Says:

Blah well it appears the marketability of playing for Lovie Smith aint quite what it was last year.

  4. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

can someone send me a link to the “joe bucs fan hour with steve duemig”, I would really appreciate it.

  5. Architek Says:

This is a joke – EDS was weak and soft and a younger more talented with better pedigree is allowed to walk – LOL.

    Wake me on black monday!

  6. Arealbucsfan Says:

Wtf!!! The one signing i was really pullin for- and we let him walk rite out the door!?!

  7. Arealbucsfan Says:

    EDS was garbage as f**k!

  8. DallasBuc Says:

Maybe someone needs to tell incompetent Lovie Smith and his lapdog GM the Evan Dietrich Smith is not a center.

  9. tmaxcon Says:

Wiz was probably too healthy for Lovie not enough missed games or concussions to qualify

  10. Newbucsfan!!! Says:

can’t find the article with joe and the big dawg, does anyone know

  11. passthebuc Says:

Just the place for a quarterback.

  12. CC Says:

    Another fail for Lovie.

  13. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Sign this guy. he has the potential to be our center for the next decade almost. don’t screw this up too. n we should over pay greg hardy n get him to sign here. we are losing 3 DEs

  14. bucs4lyfe Says:

Lol it’s hard not to laugh at the temper tantrums if fans, allowed to walk insinuates we should have given him any and everything HE wanted plus a boat load of money, relax people it wasn’t as if that one signing would tip the balance of power in the nfc south, even if we signed him you’d be complaining about the line still

  15. White Tiger Says:

The BEST you Kid Fameis/FSU fans could hope for is that he’s as advertised – that means he is as good as all the hype about his “accuracy” and ability to throw into “tight windows” (his 18 INT’s this season beg to differ)….or his “escapability” (his complete lack of athleticism demonstrate otherwise)…or his coolness under pressure (in light of his standing on the table in Tallahassee’s student union – shouting obscenities at young college girls that had the misfortune of working for him…IMMEDIATELY AFTER being cleared of rape charges – one might consider exchanging the word “coolness” for another: “sociopath”)…

…the BEST you fans could hope is that he IS the best parts of Tom Brady ad Peyton Manning (with a side of Bradley Cooper)…

The reality is – we can’t even get a guard that’s SO good at imitating a professional Left Tackle, that we can;t even sign HIM!?

Who’s going to make sure Kid Fameis isn’t standing in line for singles on his way to Monz?

  16. Posey99 Says:

We have a TON of money to spend…

Did joe even put up this weeks audio of the joe bucs fan hour?

  19. WS99 Says:

this just in! agent just announced that Winston is going back to FSU. Mariotta just got a surfing injury and Williams said “uhm I’m going to LA!”

Tomorrow should be even better, wake me up at 4p.

That’s what happens when your favorite team blows for over 10 years in a row without a playoff win and hardky any appearances. What do you expect?

  21. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    Okay…now I’m depressed again.

    BUILD THE EFFING LINES L & L.

You don’t let this guy walk after all the scrubs you picked up last off season.

    How depressing.

Look up the song : Rodeo Song Piss Me Off You F***in Jerk

Then think of Lovie while your listening…

“It’s an alla man left and alla man right
Come on you f***kin dummy get your right step right
Get off stage you god damn goof you know

You piss me off, you f***in jerk
    You get on my nerves”

  22. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    salish_seamonster …welcome to JBF.

  23. Bucfan4life Says:

Well Salish there is major reason for concern. The Bucs haven’t been able to attract any of the important free agents they needed. No offensive linemen have been added and even though M Johnson sucked and Clayborn was injured, they haven’t added anyone to replace them. If nothing else we could have used them for depth on the d-line. The team is worse today than it was a week ago. There are not enough draft picks to fill all the holes, let alone provide depth. Players can see the dire shape that the Bucs are in and good free agents want no part of it. As excited as I was about bringing in that shiny new QB, I’m afraid we are looking at another 2 to 4 win season next year. The lack of depth and overall talent is down right scary at this point.

  24. Clint Says:

More Winston news please! And if there’s no Winston news to do a post on, make something up!

  25. salish_seamonster Says:

ONE, yes ONE, day into free agency and you’re already predicting a 2-4 win season. If that doesn’t sound insane to you, then I suggest you make an immediate beeline to a psychiatrist. Seriously, that’s literally INSANE.

  26. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

White Tiger…I could care less if Winston goes to Mons Venus. I’m sure there are more than a few players that go there too.

  27. iamkingsu Says:

This draft has more talented OL than free agency does. They’re not trying to revamp the whole line this off-season like last year.L&L are just looking for enough new lineman to compete for 2 positions. Then replace Mankins and EDS next off-season.

  28. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

As if Mons Venus means trouble….give me a break. Keep Winston away from Mons? Is that every player or just Winston?

See how ridiculous some of you are?

“like a bunch of ladies in a sewing circle” – Buc1987

  29. WS99 Says:

    Buc

I see L&L building through practice squads like they did last year. Lovie believes his system works no matter who is playing. This is all about replacing schianomen. BTW, where’s #54s contract? Argh. Breathe in breathe out. Woosaa

It’s gonna be a long road ahead, im just happy jimmy graham is a Seahawk.

  30. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

WS99….Me too about Graham. So long you won’t be missed.

BUT I don’t even want them to draft Winston if they don’t at least make an effort to fix the o-line. We’ll see how things go, but as most of know Lovie had terrible O-lines in Chicago. So I’m not holding my breath.

    Poor Jameis. Look out kid!

  31. Bucfan4life Says:

Salish, take a look at the available free agents still on the market. There isn’t a quality starting left tackle, guard, or defensive end available at this point. The free agents we needed the most are signed elsewhere so yes, two days into free agency and I’m predicting a long season. Do you understand how free agency works? The better players are snatched up right away.

  32. WS99 Says:

Jameis was seen at himes and Columbus today.

  33. Dewey Selmon Says:

to make matters worse joe was the first one to report on twitter. lol, way to pat urself on the back

  34. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    WS99…that’s GOOD news!

That means he’s staying in town.

  35. iamkingsu Says:

    @bucfan4life

Do you realize that we snatched up all the “better players” in day 1 of free agency the last 3 off-seasons?? Where has that gotten the bucs?? Relax man!

  36. WS99 Says:

Yo Joe. I think you ran mj out of town calling him a ghost everyday.

  37. WS99 Says:

    87

That’s yankees spring training. I was saying he’s going to play baseball. It’s not everyday you get to where the pinstripes.

  38. Bucfan4life Says:

Lol, so letting those busts go and not relacing them with better talent is a good thing?

  39. Dan Andrews Says:

Hey JoeBucsFan, how about an app so that I can access your website easier on the go. Would provide better exposure as well.

  40. salish_seamonster Says:

    @BF4L-
I understand very well how free agency works. And that knowledge gives me perspective. The “winners” in free agency are almost never winners on the field. I also know the first round of free agency is often overpaying for mediocre talent. Bad spending decisions can cripple your franchise. And there’s still plenty of time to acquire players who can solidify the roster. The sky is falling crowd has no connection to reality.

  41. iamkingsu Says:

    Bucfan4life
No we’re going to fill it with Clinton McDonald type players. Then get our stars thru the draft. It’s what every great organization does. Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril did not sign day 1 of free agency in Seattle. They took 1 year prove it deals later into free agency. Look at them now

  42. iamkingsu Says:

That Bruce Carter was hell of a pick up. He and #54 together is going to be scary. Only if lovie can keep them out of the heat this off-season so they can stay fresh all year. That’s the only advantage Chip Kelly has on the league. Most other coaches are stuck in their ways

  43. Bucfan4life Says:

Hope you’re right king. Didn’t want them to go out and go nuts again but I was hoping for a decent upgrade at DE and a quality offensive lineman. Letting two defensive ends go and not picking up at least one in FA puts a lot of oressure on them to get it exactly perfect in the draft. I wish we had a decent QB because Leonard Williams would fill a major hole for this team.

  44. jdogg81 Says:

Hey Joe are the bucs going after Adrian Peterson

Met Joey Galloway at Mons Venus once.

Andrew …I’m sure Joe Redner could put out a monster of a list of former Buc players and current ones that have walked into his club.

  47. Andrew 1 Says:

    lol, true dat.

  48. ddneast Says:

LOL. Love it Andrew 1. I also always liked the White Tiger.
Didn’t you know nowadays that men are supposed to apologize for liking to look at sexy women dance naked.
God forbid we even get aroused by the male behavior.
And don’t talk to me about the poor women being exploited. Those girls are experts at exploiting the last dollar out of a guys wallet and walking away from them when they run out of cash for the next $20.
    Exploited my rear end.

  49. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Some of those girls at Mons make made bank….okay now this has gone totally off topic. Thanks White Tiger.

  50. iamkingsu Says:

    @jdogg81
I tried to break the news to Joe about this a few days ago because I read that we are on AP’s short list of trade destinations

  51. jdogg81 Says:

I just seen it on the bay cave

  52. Broy34 Says:

You guys are acting like we lost suh Cuz we got outbid buy a mill. How do you think bill Belichick finds guys like Ninkovich? Day 1 of free agency? Nope. They’re going after lineman what more could we want. They’ll sign who they can and draft the rest. They’re not gonna throw Jameis into hell

  53. Broy34 Says:

“And we let him walk right out the door” oh I’m sorry I forgot if it were you, you’d allow the bucs to say no don’t fly to SEATTLE for a visit who also wants you. Instead we’ll pay you 8 million a year do play a position you don’t want to play. WAKE UP PEOPLE MY GOD

  54. salish_seamonster Says:

Unless the Bucs are willing to pay a good bit more than Seattle, why would he sign with the Bucs? Sorry guys, the climb to respectability has some hurdles. When you’ve been bad for awhile, free agents need a good reason to come to Tampa. Overpaying is still a bad policy.

  55. Broy34 Says:

There are a lot of bodies out there that aren’t much worse than Wiz or some of the other top guys at need positions. Look at it like this backfield QB wideouts tight end set. We have 2 lineman Dotson mankins one up in the air. That’s 2 picks or signs at the line and offense is done besides depth. Defensive line will be morgan mccoy mcdonald Jaques. Then david lansanah Carter. Banks verner McDougal/ major wright and conte. It’s not nearly as bad as you whiny dudes are making it out to be. Lost 9 games by ONE POSSESION. Winston himself couldve won 5 of those with his “It/clutch factor” which you cannot deny he has. Hell Freeman had it. Freeman just didn’t show up the first 3 quarters

  56. WS99 Says:

They warned us last year, it takes time. I didn’t know lovie wanted to completely dismantle the roster but hay whatchugonnado.

  57. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Architek Says
“This is a joke – EDS was weak and soft and a younger more talented with better pedigree is allowed to walk – LOL.”

Of course, we both know the Bucs can put guns to players heads to make them stay.

The dude has a chance to join the Seahawks…we’re probably his fall back plan.

  58. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    We can still DRAFT!!!!!!

    Sheesh!

  59. Todd Says:

Ya but we stink at drafting players we got bad scouts

  60. vancity bucfan Says:

What’s with all the whining? Calm down, you think its easy getting people to come sign with a 2-14 team? Things will be better in 2015… Heck they’re not even playing yet.

    Salish seamonster where u located?

  61. lurker Says:

    Stefen Wisniewski – C – Free Agent

Free agent C Stefen Wisniewski is visiting the Seahawks.

Wisniewski has been connected to the Bears, Bucs and Rams since the 3-13 Raiders opted not to re-sign him, and now he’ll visit the NFC champions. The Seahawks have a hole at center after sending Max Unger to the Saints in the Jimmy Graham trade.

  62. lurker Says:

    hmmmmmmm bucs or seahawks

  63. Babaloo Says:

I think the fact that they were so busy and active in free agency for the last 3 years makes this stuff feel much worse than it actually is. We will get some quality guys in here.

    Just have patience.

  64. Buc-O's 82 Says:

    Good, build through the draft

  65. Buc Neckid Says:

Wiesnewski left for Seattle to possibly replace Max Unger who went to the Saints

  66. Bucfan4life Says:

@ Broy. you need to reread that list of players you just went over. My god aside from 2-3 players it sounds like a practice squad. Wow! Morgan, Mcdougal, Wright, and Conte. You think that’s a good list for a team on the rise???? While Smith and Lansanah played fairly well last year we will have to see if they can progress or even continue at that pace. One was a back up and the other was in the street last year. Neither of them was a stud but they played ok when they got there shot.

  67. White Tiger Says:

The way alcoholics shouldn’t hang out in bars…because they have a special “proclivity” their hell-bent on spending the rent money on just a bit more rum…

…is the way Kid Fameis’ own special “proclivity” causes him to spend his fame & fortune on ladies who always drag poor kid famous down paths he didn’t want to go…

It’s about the ability to resist the “Sirens” – beings that represent an overwhelming desire that will lead to ruin, Story goes that these “Sirens” would sing an irresistible song that would lure men in ships to sail onto the rocks to “hang out” – only as they were drowning did the men realize they’d been tricked…by their own desire.

… if you weren’t listening in class, you probably are living it yourself – therefore do not understand. Short explanation: It’s why you don’t pick a kid with this much baggage, 1st overall…his “ship” is hell-bent on the Siren’s…
