Three In A Row For Bowers?

The Bucs’ 2011 second-round pick has been looking like an NFL player

Is Da’Quan Bowers finally healthy?

Is he motivated in the final days of his rookie contract?

Is his frayed mental state restored?

Whatever’s going with 24-year-old Bowers, it’s working. Bowers made a couple of splash plays in limited snaps against the Bengals two weeks ago, including half a sack.

Last week, when Gerald McCoy played fewer snaps than usual with a knee injury, Bowers stepped in and did his share of good things, three tackles in all. Joe would encourage anyone to watch the game film.

Lovie Smith publicly has praised Bowers lately, too.

It sure seems like Bowers has found a home as a good backup defensive tackle, after being one of the nation’s most feared college defensive ends. Bowers always has had the size (6-4, 288) to play tackle but rarely was asked to perform there prior to this season.

Could Bowers actually play three good games in a row? That might be more shocking than a Bucs victory in Carolina.

Only contract I would consider is a minimum guarantee loaded with performance incentive.

If the Hardees Thickburger can perform as a backup, fine.

He’ll be offered a backup contract with no guarantees. Really doesn’t matter. Or he’ll sign somewhere else.
