Rainey Resting Bad Ankle: Lavonte Returns

December 3rd, 2014

LavontetrainingcampPunter returner/buried running back Bobby Rainey is nursing an ankle injury.

That was revealed by Lovie Smith at One Buc Palace today.

Lovie said the ankle issue occurred against the Bengals. Rainey only has been granted seven carries for 18 yards over the past three games, but he has been a positive presence catching balls out of the backfield.

The good news is Lavonte David was back on the field. He was joined by Luke Stocker and center Evan Dietrich-Smith, who was sorely missed Sunday.

Tight ends Brandon Myers and Austin Seferian-Jenkins are still out, though Lovie emphasized Seferian-Jenkins was improving. Lovie had the same to say about Clinton McDonald, though his bad hamstring kept him out today, too.

Warn the town the beast is loose

  2. DB55 Says:

Wasn’t Rainey jumping up and down on the second to last play after breaking a big run? So he got hurt on the 12-mans play? I’m seriously having a hard time believing anything lovie says. This is a tactic to play sims.

Savage Mike and Beast LVD will ball out Sunday. And that’s FACT!

  4. Howard Cosell Says:

    ASJ is still injured.
    Tim Wright is never injured.
We traded a durable, talented player for an injury-prone
    unproven player.
    Winner: The Patriots

    @ Howard

Agree completely. I was really bummed when the let Wright go. We lost that trade me thinks.

  6. Ray Rice Says:

JOE still thinks ASJ is the man beast and believes ASJ will turn into Tony Gonzales in his prime. What a joke JOE. I’m not the only one down on ASJ.

  7. Luther Says:

Ray, I have no problem with the way Joe feels about ASJ. The guy is a rookie for Crist’s sake. Not every rookie breaks out like Mike Evans so I’m willing to give him a pass for this year. I’ve seen enough of him to think that he will actually be a very good player given enough time to adjust to the NFL.

  8. McBuc Says:

@luther. Logic, most of these guys don’t get logic.

  9. CocoaBchBuc Says:

ASJ will be a top 6 TE in the league.

Rainey’s bad ankle explains why Solomon Patton was re-signed.

    @Luther

Hope you are right. I would love for our YUCS to smash the division especially NO with a beast TE just like NO did our YUCS last season. Beast #54 took Jimmy out the game this season in the first meeting. It’s just absurd that JOE keeps writing how beastly #87 is. I mean he hasn’t done nothing. So he shouldn’t even get an article. JOE always seems to find a way to pump up ASJ. But it is his website so I guess he gets a pass. LOL

Yes! LVD is back baby! Love watching me some LVD on the field.
