Pass Protection Tips Served

December 21st, 2014

TrayOne of many offensive struggles plaguing the Bucs is pass protection from running backs.

They’re just not very good. It’s made Joe appreciate veterans like Brian Leonard, D.J. Ware, Cadillac Williams and Earnest Graham in the backfield in recent years.

Rookie Charles Sims is green, and Doug Martin has never been much of a pass blocker, no matter how hard he tries.

Martin said, via the Buccaneers Radio Network, that a fired up Evan Dietrich-Smith, a Packers starter last year who is extra eager to beat his old teammates today, sat down with the running backs and “gave us little hints” on the Packers’ tendencies in the pass rush last week.

Packers longtime defensive coordinator Dom Capers is known for his blitz varieties, and one can assume Dietrich-Smith was advising who likes to go up what gaps.

How serious is Dietrich-Smith? “He has the dark visor on during practice and everything,” Martin said. “He’s ready.”

Why on earth would EDS try to help the RBs……I thought the object was to lose! Didn’t EDS get the memo?

  2. Jim Says:

Martin was a good pass blocker his first year. LaGarrett Blount was terrible.

LMFFAO! The RBs will need to know how to pass block them as they run right thru and past EDS.

  4. EDS = Bearded Turd Says:

Thats probaly more time than EDS spent working on his own craft this whole season.

That dame looks like John Lynch.

EDS, Collins and Michael Johnson are all massive disappointments. McCown is what he always was.

    The Love Bunch.

Why people think that King Lovie can succeed here is a complete mystery.

    Ask Tedford.

    He bailed.

    Early too.

The offensive lineman seem like they just don’t want to be here and I think there is some truth to that.
