The Bucs and Bears likely will clash next season

The Bucs own the NFC South cellar for the 2014 season. Today’s loss at Carolina guaranteed that.

As a result, the Bucs’ schedule for next season gets a little clearer.

In 2015, the Bucs will play all NFC East teams, as part of the scheduled conference rotation.

Their remaining NFC games, outside of NFC South opponents, will be against the fourth-place finishers in the NFC West and NFC North. That’ll be either the 49ers or Rams in the West, or the Vikings or Bears in the North.

The Bucs’ non-conference games next year will be against the AFC South, Colts (away), Texans (away), Titans (home) and Jaguars (home).

Wow, the NFL really knows how to screw Tampa fans. Home games against Jax and Tenn? Yuck! What’s next? Redskins and Giants?

Please NFL, bring the Eagles down here. I need a reason to wear my Super Bowl Champs hat and Ronde Barber jersey.

  2. JJV Says:

Maybe with Lovie staying, the 2015 season will bring us another 2-14 season. Then we can hope for another #1 draft pick. He really does bring optimism back to the fans. Thanks coach.

  3. Luther Says:

Possibly first and second year QB’s on all three teams so it has some excitement just not elite excitement.

  4. No One Says:

Giants & Cowboys at home and Redskins & Eagles away.

Either way, all these teams will look on their schedule and see the Bucs and say “That should be an easy game”.

Nelson (to Joe) – Ha Ha!

  6. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Hey we Bucs fans have to find joy where we can. Last place schedule..great.

I’ve been spending more time at Walterfootball recently getting up to snuff on the NFL Draft.

Yes two games still on the schedule and if you’re a Bucs fan your attention is not on those two games but rather next years draft! Sad eh.

  7. james in dunedin Says:

Does anyone trust the Brothers Glazer to run this franchise anymore. It’s been all down hill since Papa Glazer got sick. The Brothers Glazer fired the only coach to take us to the promised land and this team has been a laughing stock ever since.

  8. sb Says:

14 of 16 games are already predetermined years in advance. The only games determined by the standings for 2015 are the games against the last place teams from the Nfc nORTH and NFC west..

  9. bucrightoff Says:

We had a last place schedule this year too. Should be 1-13 too without the Pittsburgh miracle. Lovie is garbage.

  10. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Great…veteran HC comes in and we’re talking last place schedules and #1 overall draft picks…some upgrade! I can’t wait to see the next Lovie confidence poll and read that there are still dipsh!ts polling confidence in Lovie!

  11. tmaxcon Says:

The Glazer Clowns have manager to PISS off 2 fan-bases on 2 Different Continents. Nice Job!!!!

Having a last place schedule is meaningless when the organization as a whole is so clueless.

  12. JJV Says:

After seeing this last place schedule for the 2015 season, I know how I will be voting in the Lovie poll next week. ” Very confident ” in our coach leading the team to another NFL worst record and #1 pick. Who cares about Superbowls when we can be the primetime headliner in the national spotlight every year at the NFL Draft. Lovie indeed has made us relevant again.

  13. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Skins will probably be a home game for you guys as the Bucs were up here this year. Sucks for me because I won’t get to see them play then.

  14. Tye Says:

Give the Bucs the easiest schedule in the league and the Lovie coached Bucs will likely still go 2-14 again or very close to it…. Not worth spending another dime on as long as they continue to be bad incredibly bad!

  15. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

Thank the Lord we didn’t listen to Joe and go for Manziel, but hey he would have sold jerseys. hahaha

  16. Marcus Dominus Dominick Says:

    To all you plebs,

As soon as my one year retirement ends order will be restored. Don’t worry about picking a rookie QB, we have Mike Cannon Glennon signed for two more years. I personally drafted two franchise qbs and rid this realm Tamponia of haggarts and thieves like Michael Bennett and Aqib Talib. Darrelle Revis was of no use as he refused to bow at the feet of his imperator.

    Marcus Dominus Dominick

  17. Mr. Patrick Says:

I wonder if the Glazers realize yet that they made yet another horrible and expensive head coaching mistake?

  18. Pruritus Ani Says:

I’ve never been so disgusted. It’s embarrassing. The worst part is there is absolutely nothing to forward to in the offseason. At least last year there was speculation on who would be coming here.

So we get the number 1 pick and we get a QB…Who’s going to develop him? This crew we got in here now? They’ll ruin him!! They are the most incompetent group of people I’ve seen prowling the sidelines since Morris left.

    Clean house.

  19. JJV Says:

Be prepared that not only will the Glazers publicly support Lovie but will praise him for a job well done. We all know this will happen and they will simply confirm it. It is like the blind leading the blind leading the hopeless. It’s a Bucs life.

  20. Fort Myers Dave Says:

Great, at least the Bucs may win 2 games at home next year: Jags and Titans but their fans are probably thinking that the Bucs will be the only potential road win besides when the Jags and Titans play each other on the road…. Ken Whisenhunt and Lovie Smith are neck and neck for the most inept coaches in the NFL currently employed…. Blackouts and another 2-14 or 3-13 season on the horizon unless the baby Glazers clean house.

  21. Cannon Fire Says:

All these people complaining about Lovie, these are the same people that cheered for him coming in. I didn’t want him as a head Coach but you have to give more than one year to build his team. Simmer down knee jerkers, if the D keeps playing like this and a franchise QB starts mid season you guys will be back sucking on Lovie in no time. Martin still looks good, Sims looks good, hell even the O-line looked decent today at times. A dominant QB will make everything look great at the end of next year.

  22. 911bucs Says:

    @JJV
Yes and they will say he did a tremendous job by coaching a team without an experienced OC, multiple injuries, and QB shuffling.

  23. BucFan20 Says:

One thing is for sure. 2 games left before the Bandwagon fans show back up. You know the ones that always call eveyone else bandwagon fans! Those that did not claim the team like we did all year. Draft, OTA’s Camp. And if things do go wrong again next year they will be the first to bolt again with the “see ya next season”. “I’m out of here”. And so on. But at least WE the FANS will always have the hope for a good season. But even with this schedule good or bad we will still be here.

  24. DallasBuc Says:

    ^^^fan police in the house

  25. Luther Says:

I hope for a good season but when the season is lost, I want the draft to be the best possible so we can get help. Like Magic Johnson says, when you stink, stink it up good.

  26. cometowin2 Says:

Did you happened to notice the 10 or more seconds tick off the clock before they called the first timeout. Bad clock management again. You shld know before the play ends if you are going to call the timeout. Shows yet again poor coaching at the head coach level. As much as I love the Bucs I couldn’t really root for them to win. The draft is much more important. Give me Mariota and their head coach or offensive coordinator to run the offense. I have absolutely no confidence in Lovie.

  27. AK Says:

the last place schedule only accounts for 2 games but hey, the more games against teams with non-descript small fanbases (Tennessee, Jax, etc) means less home games where we are outnumbered by opposing team fans!

  28. JJV Says:

It has been said we have to “simmer down “and continue to drink the Kool-Aid. Next season we will be ” sucking on Lovie”. All will be better with a dominant QB. We shall follow this wisdom to lead us to peace.

  29. BucFan20 Says:

    @DallasBuc
Not fan police! Your still here. As are many. Just sad how many people claim to be fans of our team but as soon as things go south they jump ship. But this year it was only after a few games. As soon as the season ends they return and are the first to accuse others of not being true fans. Just watch who comes running back and you know what I am saying.

  30. BucFan20 Says:

Lovie came in here looking at tape. Now he knows exactly what he has. IMHO there will be big changes in coaches and not just the OC. It would not surprise me if half this team is replaced this year. I just hope he does not pick the players alone and gets better personel to do it.

  31. Broy34 Says:

I can no longer read “let’s draft a tackle. ” WE CAN GET A TACKLE ANY YEAR WITH ANY PICK YOU UNBELIEVABLE MORONS. love the site Joe but this fanbase is why we suck. That build an atmosphere that doesn’t think the guy who controls the game needs to be good to win

  32. DallasBuc Says:

Bucfan20- maybe I’m a little wary of the fan police, whether they agree with me or not. I am still here and a lot of the Lovie and McCown/Johnson fans have gone into hiding. What a disaster this ball club has become in the hands of Lovie Smith. It was rough under Morris and Schiano but at least you got the sense those guys were trying. I don’t get that anymore. It really feels like Lovie is mailing it in on his last big league contract.

  33. Joe Says:

That build an atmosphere that doesn’t think the guy who controls the game needs to be good to win

    Unreal, isn’t it?

  34. DallasBuc Says:

Joe- you are there all time. Do you think LovieDovie is mailing it in or do you feel the drive and passion from the HC? Results are a bitch. It’s the reason he was hired. If you don’t produce, sht compete, there is no value. Is Lovie a fraud?

  35. Meat Says:

Clean house. Fire Lovie. We lose pre-snap way too often.

  36. Meat Says:

He picked this situation like Andy Reid last year- his pick of ten jobs- he thought he was going to do exactly what Reid did and spend $150 mil and make us a quick turnaround 10 win team. He cannot evaluate sh!t and clearly his player friendly mentality leads to undisciplined garbage that is worse to watch than the best college programs. Although, it’s not like we have veteran top tier leadership. Our QB coach hasn’t coached a community college team…I want ex Alabama o coordinator types as my QB coach. Hire good people- Jesus.

  37. Meat Says:

He hired the inexperienced QB coach buddy- his fault- he let Zuttah go- didn’t sign Hester- etc infinity. He is a retard- for real- can’t manage clock even. He has done nothing well except draft the 2nd best receiver with the 7th pick last draft. Nothing. Zero.

  38. Meat Says:

I have Bucs plates on my car- go to to occasional game- talk smack to all my buddies about how good we will be- don’t want Schiano gone or even Rah like this. Lovie has made me hate our team and hope we lose each week. My wife doesn’t get why her insanely loyal hubby is not watching anything but redzone while the Bucs are on for our non-prime time games. F lovie

  39. Meat Says:

Schianos schedules were a nightmare- we play garbage and make them look good.

  40. Pruritus Ani Says:

DallasBuc…. I think you are spot on.. Mailing it in would be a kind understatement. Apathetic would be the word I would use.

    —————–

Yeah, it was Schiano’s schedule’s fault that the team was completely inept in its SECOND season under him… got blown out in 3 out of the last 4 games of his only NOT TERRIBLE season (7-9) then started the next season 0-8 and yet it still took a Herculean effort for the Dolphins to lose that game. Schiano is Big East garbage. His hiring made no sense on any level related to NFL football.

  42. bucstop.com Says:

unlike the old days before 2002, the NFL schedules are made up way in advance. I can tell you what 14 of the 16 games will be in 2040, assuming no new teams are added or subtracted. Its only 2 games per year that are up for grab, which is the NFC North and West last place team. That rotates each year too.

Getting a “last place schedule” isn’t what it used to be. Its just two games.

  43. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Really, if you think about it, this is a good thing. A rookie QB can cut his teeth a bit easier against bad teams. Competition will be stronger the next year, but he’ll have more experience and be more familiar with the system.

    ALSO

It will make signing a good OC easier, because he’ll be able to win more games and look good with a rookie QB.

    This is a great thing.
