Jump Balls, Dunkaneer Balls Came Too Late

Joe’s press box perch revealed all kinds of man-to-man battles on the field for Vincent Jackson, Mike Evans and Austin Seferian-Jenkins to win.

But the Bucs weren’t going after them aggressively early in the game.

It was mind-boggling.

Why invest in those tall targets if you’re not going to give them a shot to earn their money on 50-50 balls. By the time the Bucs went to the alley-oop shots, the game was out of reach.

Joe talked to Evans after the game and he acknowledged that Bucs receivers saw a lot less zone defense today.

“They played a little more man coverage, more blitzes. They had man coverage across the board. We just couldn’t execute,” Evans said.

Again, why the Bucs were allergic to the deep shot today when the game was in reach is unclear. And don’t get Joe started on the absence of tempo in the offense.

On the upside Evans said his healing groin feels fantastic — “100 percent bodywise, endurance-wise 90 percent.’

He finished with four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. Evans said there was no panic in the offense at any time and that’s what led to 17 second-half points.

“Everybody was real calm,” Evans said. “You know, it’s a lot of veterans we have. If somebody was out of character, then we were there to calm him down. And there’s nothing we can do but keep playing.”

Once again-no adjustment by the offense to the “game situation”

  2. gatrbuc17 Says:

NO SCHIANO OR MORRIS COACHED TEAM EVER LOOKED THIS BAD. Just sayin

  3. RealityCheck Says:

We don’t have an offensive coordinator, we have Marcus Arroyo.

  4. CB Buc Says:

You can’t expect a 56 year old man to change. Lovie is what he is: conservative and unimaginative.

    Did anyone expect anything else?

  5. Uncle Albert Says:

This team is an absolute disgrace and the coaching staff is putrid. It was clear to me today that this team has in fact quit on Lovie. Time to clean house again.

  6. CB Buc Says:

“Listen Marcus, this how I want to play these guys today….”

“OK Marcus, it’s 38-0, we lost this one. Do whatever you want for the rest of the game….”

  7. Jonny 2.3 Says:

The only time Morris coached teams looked this bad was when they totally gave up midway in 2011. And even then they only had one ugly game against Atlanta where a team scored 30+ in 1st half, the last game of that season I believe.

  8. Florida Hillbilly Says:

Lovie just stands around like a zombie or like his arms are tied up in a straight jacket or something! Jon Gruden, please come back home!

  9. Florida Hillbilly Says:

Lovie just stands around like a zombie or like his arms are tied up in a straight jacket or something! Jon Gruden, please come back home and make use of this talented offense that we have, Lovie is wasting it!

  10. BirdDoggers Says:

Losing the offensive coordinator was a blow to the offense. Regardless, the defense is a huge problem. The head coaches strength has become the achilles heal.

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

Did’nt get a good effort or a win to celebrate. What’s left? Oh yeah, life goes on and the waiting is the hardest part. Safe to say the Bucs have reverted to the laughingstock of the league.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All you have to do is focus on Flaco in the pocket and never really being rushed or touched….and Glennon being hurried and hit on almost every play in the first half. How many times did we have 3rd & 10?…..
Our Oline was awful & our Dline was even worse.
Every week the announcers say the same thing….we need to jam their recievers on the line….and we don’t…..we need short quick passes and we don’t.

We have NO……I mean NO pass rush!!!…..we might as well go to the 3-4….because we are getting nothing out of the 4….

  13. RCH Says:

I’m not sure what’s more embarrising the second routing if this season ( one at home non the less). Or the official Tampa bay buccaneers twitter account celebrating a TD in the fourth quarter of this debacle. Just shaking my damn head! How degrating!

  14. Patrick in VA Says:

Defense, all of it, and the o line have plenty of explaining to do tomorrow morning. What a disgraceful showing. Just awful.

  15. Tye Says:

If I didn’t know any differently, I would have thought the Bucs coaching staff were all a bunch of newbies….. The Ravens had such an easy, seemingly effortless winning game today…

  16. Tomcin Says:

Dovie & his coaches all stink, especially Frazier. Fire them all. Players are running around like chickens with there heads cut off. What a joke. I’m finished with this stink ass team. Where’s Gruden?

  17. Buc-O's 82 Says:

Has anyone noticed how our GM Lieght has disappeared? He wanted to be on TV at the beginning. Joe how about finding him and see what he has to say about this crap him and Lovie is putting on the field

  18. rayjay1122 Says:

Breaking news from the NFL. This afternoon a motley crew of pirates plundered millions of dollars from the NFL and that they did not work for and are reported to be hiding out in the Tampa Bay area. Authorities hope to apprehend them soon and exile them to Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more information.

  19. Cobraboy Says:

This Tuesday, the team’s day off, the entire football operations staff, coaches & players should stand at Dale Mabry & Tampa Bay Blvd. and spend the entire day apologizing to every Bucs fan in the area.

    This football product is disgraceful.

  20. DB55 Says:

Don’t really matter what the offense does when you’re losing 28-0 after the first quarter. Fire glennon he sucks.

  21. Mr. Patrick Says:

The Ravens took their feet off the gas midway through the 2nd quarter, so anything that happened in the 2nd half was just garbage time

  22. mpmalloy Says:

Man, the Ravens really came to play.
    That is one good team.
Dallas and Seattle are in an epic battle right now.
There’s some good teams out there.

  23. Bucnjim Says:

Hard to throw jump balls when Glennon was on his a$$ most of the game. Not making excuses for the QB, but the Ravens controlled the line of scrimmage all day long. Like I posted before the game even started; this was men against boys.

  24. NJBucsFan Says:

Lovie is a horrible excuse for a coach. The team never looks prepared. The gameplans are crap. He’s an overrated coach that is hardheaded. We are stuck with this crap for 3 more years. FML

  25. mpmalloy Says:

Even with the lame protection The Cannon was one of the top rated
QB’s this weekend. Right Between Rivers and Dalton for game stats.
Lol that Schianos Cannon is the only thing that works right now.

  26. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I always try to look at the bright side of things. I always try to exercise patience. If those fail, I try to make excuses. After today, I got nothing. I’m at the point where aside from maybe three players, there’s nobody on this team that I would care if we got rid of. We have a bunch of average (at best) players that clearly don’t fit the system we are running. They didn’t fit Schiano’s system either. Those who have been here even longer didn’t fit Raheem’s system. Maybe it’s not the system, it’s the players. I blamed Raheem, I blamed Schiano – maybe it wasn’t them. At this point, I really don’t know. Sad, sad day to be a Bucs fan.

  27. Aaron Says:

need some time – Dallas went cover 2 last year and were awful. They look pretty good this year..(I hate dallas)

Glennon holds the ball to long and doesn’t throw people open…we are UN-watchable right now. The weather is great – spend some time with your family.

  28. teacherman777 Says:

I am so sad. What a painful sight to see the Ravens play Madden against us in real life.

    5 TD passes?

    How many deep slants?

They kept running the same plays.

Everybody knows how to beat the Tampa 2 now.

And our smart general tells our enemies our strategies before we even start the battle!

Everybody knows what we are running, and they exploit our weaknesses.

It sucks to be part of bucs.

    Gerald McCoy is gone guys.

    GONE.

  29. DB55 Says:

Thank you Hawaii that’s all I wanted to hear!

  30. Buc1987 Says:

    The Funk-aneers

  31. Luke DiLella Says:

Flaco and Glennon??? You guys compared him. Steve is right as always. What a flop. Took Lovie, never drafted a QB. Another season lost. The Glaziers have no clue on how to select a staff. Jason Light GM couldn’t even handle waterboy. This organization top to bottom needs a redo. Our drafts stink, our purchases , free agents Stink. what the he!! is going on. Us fans continue to take it up the wazoo. Our D worst ever and stop talking about #8. An average backup at best. What an embarrashment. Help!!!!!!!!

  32. DB55 Says:

    @87

The pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows

  33. Patrickbucs Says:

The Bucs have had their ass handed to them a number of times the last 3-4 years by 49ers, Saints, Texans, etc. it’s absolutely brutal to watch live or on tv. I don’t see why this continues to happen with any of our last 3 coaches. Again it’s an organizational issue.

Btw McCoy is a restricted free agent so everyone please get off of that.

  34. John Sapp Says:

If I was GMC I would demand a trade, who would want to be tied to this debacle for the next three or more years? Mgmt. goes out and over pays for sorry @$$ free agents that don’t do squat.

  35. drdneast Says:

Hawaiin Buc you make a very valid point. We are seeing much the same play from the same players under their third head coach.
There are only two defenders this team should consider keeping but unfortunately a few others are tied up in guaranteed deals.
This team desperately needs a MLB. Foster isn’t even serviceable. He had absolutely no clue as what to do in this scheme. Danny Lansanah may be a great feel good story but there is a reason he kept getting cut from other teams.
Bowers is another complete bust. Barron and Gholson (even though he didn’t play today) need to go as well unless the Bucs can make Baron a strong side LB.
Finally, is there anyway we can get a qualified OC in here at this late date.

  36. DallasBuc Says:

So I’m looking for some bag to tell me how great Anthony Collins, EDS or even Logan Mankins is right now? These dudes totally hung our QB out to dry. Total give up.
    Words????

  37. buctebow Says:

I know there have to be winners and losers, but come on, can’t we take turns?
