Logan Mankins Returns In Pads

September 11th, 2014

mankinspracticeLovie Smith had the Bucs hitting each other in the afternoon swelter today at One Buc Palace. And back on the field was All-Pro left guard Logan Mankins.

Ahh, music to soothe the panicked Tampa Bay fan.

Mankins was limping at practice yesterday, on the heels of twisting up his knee in the second quarter Sunday. But this is the same guy who played effectively, and for multiple games, in a torn ACL with New England. A bad knee wrenching has to be small potatoes.

Regardless, Mankins seems a sure bet to start again on Sunday. Joe sincerely hopes the Bucs find a way to run the ball to the left side of the line. There really should be some room over there. Guys are getting a lot of cash to open them up.

Thank you Joe – this is the type of stuff that needs to be reported and not a 7th story about how the Bucs missed Tedford. Sincerely, thank you for reporting on Mankins – this is very good news!

    Excellent.. Good news.. http://www.imagesup.net/?di=1114104661511

So now we want injured players to play and risk further injury.

Good to see Logan back in Pads and practicing again.
To say we need him is an understatement.
In my mind, the game against the Rams is a must win, for us.
For them too, because the loser of this game will be 0 and 2 🙁
If we lose Sunday, we may lose the Fans.
People in Tampa are tired of supporting an awful team.
It is expensive to go to games, and it is hot as hell.
Not to mention you have to walk a mile to park, and pay stupid prices to eat and drink.

The game against the Panthers still had many empty seats, even though tickets were given away.
If we don’t win at home this Sunday, it could get real ugly, real fast.

    @ Chris@apple – true story!

Glad to see mankins taping an aspirin to it and letting it ride but can he be effective? I seen the injury looked like he hyperextended his knee. His mobility has to be limited I would think. Damn shame we don’t have a viable backup out of the 10 OLs on the roster. Why is oneil cousins on the roster and not Soloman? Help me understand please!

    Joe

This is great news but do you think they might have found a DE that can rush the QB yet and help GMC from being triple teamed?

  7. RastaMon Says:

Hope he is in pads on Sunday…Jesus ,Mary and Joesph !

All legit options for us at QB if we fail on Sunday.

  9. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Mild hyper extension. Put a brace that stops at 180° on it and he’s good to go. No re-injury possible. Some pain, possibly, but that’s it.

  10. Jon Says:

Oh good! All is fixed then right? I mean how could we lose to the Rams now that the all great and powerful Mankins is back!

  11. Tom Edrington Says:

Yaaawwwwwnnnn…..Mankins taken to locker room by training staff prior to halftime…….

  12. SteveK Says:

This is great news. Mankins is renown for his toughness, and it’s fantastic to have him back.

Any word on Michael Johnson and ASJ?

  13. Capt.Tim,Back from Davie Jones's Locker Says:

    Fantastic news!
Now, can Gilkey play Right guard?
Think we might be on to something then!!

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

Nice that we get to see two future scheduled foes on tv tonight, playing both in the next 32 days. Steelers defense looks weaker than usual. Baltimore at home should win this handily.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    This is outstanding news.

Off topic : The World’s Biggest Loser is having former pro athletes this season. There doing the intro’s now. I keep waiting for Shaun King to come out and introduce himself. Any second now…

  16. Jon Says:

I agree with SteveK! Joe, is Michael Johnson on this team?? Any word on that? Thanks SteveK for asking.

  17. BFFL Says:

Some of you people on here need to learn how to get simple information like who participated in practice. It’s not that hard. You don’t need to ask joe.

  18. DWE Says:

Thank goodness we got rid of zuttah. What a looser

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

OK, I get it. Slightly off topic. Many are after NFL head honcho Goodell, accusing him of hiding the severity of the Rice episode and of already having seen the video showing the punch in the elevator while Goodell is claiming having only seen the original video that did’nt show the punch when suspending Rice for the two games to start the season. Oh what a tangled web we weave, when at first we decide to deceive. Sure are making an enormously big deal out of this, when Hernandez actually murdered people while a Patriot. Also the K.C. Chiefs player who shot his girlfriend dead and then himself before his coach and others at the team stadium. It is what it is, a violent game played by not all but some tough unstable people. On the other hand, the American people love the game. Is’nt that is all that matters? Bingo! Cha ching!

  20. Architek Says:

    Random memo:

It’s surely nice watching a consistent and competent QB in Flacco. I wish the Bucs had that level of leader and qb.

  21. Architek Says:

I just get jealous watching Flacco, Luck, and I others showing steadiness at the position.

  22. ManzielMadness Says:

I agree with Chris, wouldn’t mind seeing Gilkey and Mankins in there

  23. nate Says:

Im not a stats guy usually… but if we got 0-2 its only a 12 percent chance we make the playoffs… 12 percent is harx to argue…..time for mariota if u ask me….

Translation: “Since we’re not going to make the playoffs, might as well tank for the #1 pick.”

You’re the type of person that i hate the most.
