Joe Talks Lovie Mindset, Glennon Mob Mania, Secondary Troubles, Quarterback Reality & More

September 30th, 2014

joemugshotIt’s Tuesday. So that means the “JoeBucsFan Hour” was in full swing tonight, as Joe squared off with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620.

It got a little heated at times.

Enjoy!

Good Job Joe! You have more patience than most of us do. At least one person in the conversation is fair & unbiased. He is very hard to listen to anymore.

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

Damn, I forgot and missed it. I’d like to hear the specifics but I don’t think I have access to it. I’ll just wait and read the comments.

  3. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

This was the 1st time I’ve listened to this show. If not for Joe it would be the last. Is Duemig really always like this ? What a knuckle head !!!!!!!

  4. Keith Says:

Brilliant radio. Tension and back and forth is brilliant.

  5. J 2.0 Says:

I can’t wait to listen to this when I get off work. Only good part of BD’s shows are when the Joe’s are on.

  6. DB55 Says:

So who you calling insane joe? I like to consider the MGM passionate. Okay so maybe some of us are insane.

  7. RastaMon Says:

    Funny…blowing smoke in retreat ….

  8. joe$sucsfan Says:

JOE, I guess you and the Dog unsmoked the cigarette afterwards. The Dog starting to sound like he’s ready for assisted living.
Everyone on the team has to contribute or not to win or a lose throughout the entire game. The defense kept the Steelers from scoring for the last 23 minutes of the game. And the offense did what it had to through out the game to win it.

  9. AJ Says:

I can’t even listen to the Big Log for any length of time. Only when he has a decent guest on…and that’s not you Joe. But when he gets on these rants like this, he is unbearable. I’m sure we can all remember the Alstott vs. Dunn rants. Or the Glazer’s selling the team rants. Or the Keyshawn vs. Gruden rants. Your a one trick pony Big Log!!!

  10. billy buckaroo Says:

I’ve tried to listen to his show several times but once he starts the “I dont care what other people think” rant I generally flip stations.

  11. 77 bassguitarist Says:

Had my entire question and comment deleted??? It wasn’t anything
    Derogatory at all??…SMDH

  12. Soggy Says:

With that 3rd caller I thought Duemig was going to explode like a over cooked egg in a microwave.. Joe you better have your safety glasses on next time..lol

  13. biff barker Says:

Joe, I listened in today for the JBF program and was quickly reminded why it’s a rare occurrence that I tune in to his program anymore.

Your proram would be far more entertaining with TKras or Ronnie Lane hosting. Both value discussion over their own opinion and handle dissenting opinion with humor rather than going Atilla on their listeners.

Glennon may not be the long term answer but he does give us the best chance to win. I thought the McCown experiment was worthwhile but it’s just a smoking hole in the laboratory now.

The hypocrisy today was evident. Dumeg’s mantra while defending Freeman was it takes 3-4 years to develop an NFL QB. In Glennon’s case not so. He doesn’t get a shot because he just “stinks”.

  14. RastaMon Says:

LOL….Twitter ( I do not Twitter)…but hear other media types brag/encourage folks to help build their Twitter following count…..maybe Joe should ask SIRI…if it’s good to block Twitter followers…The Emperor has no clothes

  15. DB55 Says:

It’s all about the ratings rastamon. Gotta generate revenue.

I appreciate joe for giving us a platform to sound off. Good, bad or indifferent. #AMERICA

  16. SteveK Says:

Caller Dan is the man. “Wrong about both Josh’s”.

  17. Oahubuc Says:

I tried to listen to Capo of the Josh McClown Mob [Easy, now. — Joe] at work and made it about 10 minutes. Give us the bullet points, please.

  18. S-Train Says:

I honestly can’t stand to Duemig. I love Joe Bucsfan and I love WDAE and I listen to every show on WDEA except for the Duemig show because he has shown 1- He is absolutely biased and unfair when it comes to Glennon. He was in love with Freeman and he is still bitter that Glennon replaced him and he will be always bitter because he is just lack character. 2- He is disrespectful to fans and people who call his show.

  19. Nuc if u Buc Says:

Big dog and joe are both knuckle heads…

  20. JT Says:

I like the show but i completely disagree about Glennon.

  21. BlakeJohnson Says:

Words truly can’t quantify how much I hate this guy. Yeah he played like crap the first 59 minutes and 20 seconds. So i guess the first shoulder fade to Mike Evans, that was crap. All of those 3rd down conversions, crap. That 46 yard bomb to Mikey on the sideline, crap. And the 2 and 21 completion to ASJ, crap. Steve Duemig is the Rush Limbaugh of sports radio.

  22. 77 bassguitarist Says:

S-train… You couldn’t have said it better, i totally
Agree . He hates glennon becouse glennon replaced freeman

  23. jbskiff Says:

You cant fix stupid! That hyena laugh should have a sock stuck in it. Has anyone ever wondered if he gave Freeman any advise in how to deal with Schiano? Mom said,”if you cant say something good about some one then dont say anything.” Here go’s, ” dog is the biggest smart ass in town.”

  24. Drew Says:

Man you Glennon people are a disgrace. You slam the Duemig why? Because he wants to see more out of Glennon, as do I? Glennon won 4 games last year, 4 people, 4!!!!!!!!!! He finally won a game that he had to take the ball down the field, let’s just forget about the 4 horrid passes with 2 min left. I believe in our coach to make the right decisions for this team. NOT YOU OR JOE, IT’S WHY YOU ARE SLAMMING A MAN THAT HAS SAID EVERYTHING RIGHT. BECAUSE NONE OF YOU UNDERSTAND THE QB POSITION. GLENNON IS FAR FROM BEING EVEN REMOTELY READY. When Freeman was 24, same age as Glennon, he already brought this team back and single handily won 7 or 8 comeback victories. Glennon does not have the guts to do that. And why do you all hate on Freeman? What did he do to you sorry ass know nothing fans? Now I know why Duemig gets so worked up with you idiots, it’s because that’s what you are. Wow.

  25. Patrick in VA Says:

Maybe Joe’s throwing the dog a bone and doing the show to get his merit badge for assisting the elderly

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I listened, and Steve was not onee hundred percent wrong.

I’m not ready to crown Mike Glennon the franchise QB either. And he was right in saying that if Glennon is made the starter, he will make plenty of mistakes.

What Steve doeesn’t get is that making Glennon the new starter is not crowning him the fRanchise QB…it’s giving him the opportunity to prove if he can be one.

His point toward McCown that all QBs make mistakes is correct, but its the type and quality of mistake. Tom Brady might throw 3 picks, but he would never do it stupidly the way McCown did. Josh did it like a third string rookie backup, and that is unacceptable given his time in the league.

After the last game I said that I felt Glennon deserved to start another game but I didn’t think Lovie would name him the starter. I was right. I also said that the best scenario for Glennon is if McCown’s injury keeps him out another week. It gives hima chance and Lovie doesn’t have to make a decision.

I think Lovie wants to see Glennon step up and overtake the role rather than him getit simply because McCown isn’t any good. The injury allows Glennon to do just that.

The rest is up to him.

  27. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I also partly agree with Steve on Freeman. He did have two very good seasons and that should not be discounted.

But Steve refuses to acknowledge the way Josh Freeeman self destructed his last year in Tampa. Before that, he was pretty much a model team member. His blight came soley in his last year. It seemeed like a total switch in personality, rivalled only in people I’ve seen in persons who are advance bi-polar.

I have a theory that his doctor messed around with his meds. They like to do that, and if it became less effective, Josh would not have made wise choices. He would have made self destructive ones…which is what happened.

  28. Fort Myers Dave Says:

Joe: the Vegas Inquiry line about about the Bucs highly paid but penalty and mistake prone center was classic! Sometimes when these players simply repeat their mistakes over and over you almost have to think its an “Eight Men Out ” situation….. The discussion about Mike Evans was interesting as well, the kid is definitely fragile and he is beginning to earn an injury prone reputation after only a quarter of a season into his career and the season…..

  29. Fort Myers Dave Says:

I think Buc Bonzai is correct about Josh Freeman and his meds situation. Remember when Mortenson from BSPN outed him about being in the first stage of the NFL drug program? I wouldn’t be surprised if the drugs involved were prescription drugs to combat anxiety. He also dealt with ahdh. Perhaps mixing two prescriptions together rattled his cage and altered his personality and perhaps perception of reality. The kid had that great year with Rah on that 10-6 run, it was astounding how quick it all came apart for him; he had a 96 qb rating in 2010 and 2012 was respectable as well (27 TDs to 17 picks)….. Now its 2014 and its all ancient history. BTW I liked how Big Dog left the door open about perhaps joining the MGM during his talk with JoeBuc; I seriously doubt it….

  30. biff barker Says:

Most all serious Buc fans don’t care what number is on the QB’s jersey. I just want to win.

The discussion would be over if McCown had showed anything. He wasn’t the cool, composed, efficient leader as promised. None of that. Nothing.

That said, Glennon has his chance to earn the job right now. This week. He can take the decision away from Lovie by beating NOLA.

  31. Soggy Says:

@Drew, Your funny, “slam the duemig” The duemig, lol, Freeman is a turd, He was good and then he fried his brain.
At least with glennon in both years we did not go 0-16, 0-16 this year was looking like a real posabilty.. Reading your post I thought you were going to explode like a over cooked egg in the microwave.. You and THE duemig have a lot in common..

  32. Zam Says:

    “Peter Kling”… Freudian slip

  33. BB Says:

I was the first person on here last year to say glennon would be good he will get better and can be a solid top ten to fifteen QB in the league and can build the team around him. Duemiggg has hated bucs for 15 years and has always been a big eagles fan.
