“Don’t Let One Opponent Beat You Twice”

Lovie Smith got passionate

Laid back Lovie Smith does get passionate occasionally.

Talking about bouncing back Sunday against the Steelers, following the beating of the century last week, that got the Bucs head coach sounding like a man on a mission.

Lovie addressed this on the Buccaneers Radio Network on Monday night.

He issued a call for veteran Buccaneers to tell their young teammates how they’ve been through the wrong ends of blowouts before and emerged.

“There’s so much football left to go,” Lovie said. “We’ve lost one game, [share my] message about, ‘Don’t let one opponent beat you twice

Lovie went on to say his Bucs are yungry hungry. “That’s what driving us, to get that first win.” And Lovie said the Bucs need to feel “just a week away from feeling good.”

The head coach said the key is belief in the plan and a focus on getting better.

Yes, optimism abounds inside the walls of One Buc Palace, as it should.

Im going on a limb here, but I think we get our 1st win of the season on Sunday. We will have a QB that won’t turn the ball over, have McCoy and Michael Johnson back, and Steelers will be playing with a more depleted defense than we’re.

    Final score- 24-20 Bucs

  3. NewTampaChris Says:

The coaches and players truly do take one game at a time and they truly think they are going to win each Sunday.

It’s media and fans that look at schedules and say, “Well, I see X wins this year.”

That’s why there is such a disconnect between coaches and fans. They don’t think like we do. Of course, they don’t watch the RedZone channel and see how non-inept other teams look…..

  4. GhostofJohnGruden Says:

MClown, will he or won’t he????? I hope not, Go Glennon, Go Bucs.

  5. foghead407 Says:

We r effed either way. Bucs lose 28-14

  6. BucsQcCity Says:

If they don’t play Glennon then the season is meaningless. We need to see if he can be the QB we need. I don’t think he is but I absolutely don’t want to wait until next year to find out. I hate talking about draft but we need to have a clear understanding of Glennon. Nothing is more important now this year

  7. Buc1987 Says:

I’m thinking about going to the next home game and bringing another one of my famous signs with me. I’m not going to see the game, because they WILL lose I don’t care who it is.

I’m going to try and stand over the Bucs tunnel and hold the sign up when they go to the locker room at the half and at the end of the game.

The sign will read “Do You Even Care About Us?”

  8. Ray Rice Says:

By Sundays’ end….. James Harrison will have more sacks in one game than the whole defensive unit put together. Man I wish I saw Lovie in an elevator so I can smack the $hit out of him.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Here I am last year with one of my signs when we went 0-8.

    @Buc1987

I had so much faith in this garbage roster, that I planned a 3 week vacation. I don’t think they show much football over in Europe! Please keep up the “realism” while I am gone!!!

  12. Architek Says:

    LMAO @ 1987

That’s classic if you pull that off —

Maybe you should have a sign that says
    “Why even show up??”

  13. james west Says:

actually smith, you have lost 3 games ,two of which were to backup QB,s that in my opinion were very winnable games(at home) I might add, also you got the dog snot beat out of you by a divisional rival, actually down 2 games in your division. so yea I aint drinking the koolaid. you’re hand picked man at QB is hurt(really) so what do you do? less than a week after the game you bring in a scrub non talent QB in for a workout or a look see huh. excuse me did you not say glennon is you’re QB of the future? wow coach wonder how glennons confidence is now, after you bring in another to take his job. now I could see it if mike got hurt and you had to go with kafka. to bring one in for a look, but you haven’t let this situation begin to work its way out and you already show glennon he is not your choice for the future. man remember shiano’s motto, and I know you aint shiano but it makes beautiful sense TBA trust belief accountability that should be the mantra for all head coaches in my opinion. and you sir have shown none. there is no accountability in you’re failed defensive play. there is no belief in your promised words. and there is no trust from the majority of tampa fans that you and your hand picked staff(minions) can or will turn this season around!!! I hope you and light do not screw up this upcoming draft.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

@Architek…lol yah I think the Glazers would shyte if they saw that sign.

@Realist….lol enjoy your vacation. I told you and a few others back before the 2013 season that I too was a realist. That I really did think that after going 7-9 that they would improve upon that in 2013 after adding Revis and Goldson. Then win the division. I may have come off as a homer, but I’m not. I was just way, way off, especially when it came to Jfro. So I’ll hold the fort down for you and turn the lights off at night.

Lovie’s a moron, all he has is cliches and non-answer answers…he’s quickly become a buffoon…

  18. Soggy Says:

Look at that picture, Would he not make a great Bozo the clown, and I don’t mean just at football..

  19. vagabond Says:

James West!!! You are the MAN! I’ll measure this team’s improvement by watching the sideline and looking for some passion and fire. I’ll measure their improvement by watching hurt players, standing up and cheering rather than standing around, arms folded, heads shaking or sitting on the bench bored. I’ll measure this team’s improvement by watching the coaches COACH! Did you notice how the Steelers sideline were all involved and fired up last week? That’s one view of a winning attitude. WE HAVE talent – we don’t have coaches who know how to play it and inspire it. Check the tapes on V-Jax reaction to third down runs in the red zone against the Rams. Threw his helmet and plopped down on the bench away from everyone – check the tapes – I saw it from the stands. There’s more to this dismal play than just scheme and injuries. My opinion is that it is coaching (or lack of) more than anything. Everything else (including injuries) is symptomatic of a team in need of leadership. This is VERY reminiscent of Raheem’s days. I’m a hardcore chest pounding GO BUCS fan and I’m always behind this team but I am really fearful of the next two weeks. I’m not sure we can get out of the hole we’re in. I PRAY that I’m worng… your move LOVIE.

Add in the fact he’s still cashing big checks from One Buc, I’d say its a huge smile.

  24. robert9 Says:

when is this guy gonna come out and put it on his shoulders. the players aint buying what he’s selling. you can see it on the field.

when your boss is a moron and calls you out for his incompetence it kills any motivation.

this season is humorous though. never seen anything like this except in the white house.

I’ll watch just for the humor. 63-14 Steelers

  25. robert9 Says:

    spot on vagabond!

  26. CB Buc Says:

    LOVIE….SHUT UP!

The BS clichés are not going to fly in the wake of the disaster that you’ve created. Please spare us your “wisdom”

  27. DB55 Says:

    Dear lovie smith,

    We’ve heard it all before.

  28. RastaMon Says:

those poor players in the the Bucs lockeroom….I am sending this video to my season ticket account manager……

  29. OAR Says:

Why do some of you guys think Lovie and Licht brought in and tried out a scrub QB to start? They are NOT looking for a QB to start! Thay are looking to backup Glennon in case he gets hurt, because the now back-up McCown is hurt. I’d take Pryor over Kafka any day.

I think you’re clear to go as long as it’s on your head going in and it’s painted in some way or the other. I saw paper baggers last season.

  33. DB55 Says:

But you can only use plastic bags, right buc?

  34. Buc1987 Says:

Hey hey Tampa Bay the Bucs know how to shine!
Turn up your speakers and bass this sucker has a lot of bass. Lots of laser noises too. I’m so glad I was not a fan back then. 1979 or not. LOL

Comes with lyrics and creamsicle photos too. Priceless song!

  35. Buc1987 Says:

DB55…as far as I know. I saw many paper bag heads just last season when I had season tickets. The rule was in effect last season too. So those people got those bags in there somehow.

  36. Russ Says:

    Ok, Glennon needs a backup!!

Lets Get Tim Tebow!! He has a winning record…would fill Raymond James Stadium….and can really be an asset.

I cannot believe how many other quarterbacks playing in this league were stomped into the turf by Tebow when at Florida (and at Denver).

If you want to be Pittsburg, bring in Tebow. He would be the only quarterback on the roster who HAS beat the Steelers.

My gosh, Sam Bradford can’t fill Tim’s t-shirt…Please….we could at least put Tebow out on the 50- yard line at half time and watch him smack around the Big Dog for all the bad comments he makes on a daily basis!!

    Tebow….Tebow…Tebow!!!!

  37. Russ Says:

Ok….anyone making bad remarks about Tebow just think….Lovie Smith is being paid millions and he CHOSE McCown as his starter!!

Maybe Tebow is a long shot, but he has more heart and more intangibles than any other unsigned quarterback on the planet!!

Tell me, with McCown hurt, who is our QB2??

  38. Buc1987 Says:

Not Tebow..he doesn’t know how to throw football. I’ll take Kafka over Tebow.

  39. Fort Myers Dave Says:

I’d consider taking Tebow as a fullback that could occasionally pull off a wildcat play if he did not come with the whole ****ing media circus that would follow him and bring even more jokes and unwanted attention to this floundering franchise. But you know what: I doubt if Tebow could help make anything positive out of what Arroyo has called so far this season. On second thought, naw, leave him to covering the SEC on the four letter network…..
