New Orders Have Lavonte David Changing Stance

Joe detected a change and David explained

Like any Bucs-obsessed lunatic, Joe is hypersensitive to all things happening with the team and detected a subtle change to Lavonte David’s game through the first week of practice.

So Joe decided to have a private chat with David about his new look yesterday.

David is starting each play in more of a crouch, a deeper bend at the knee. It turns out David got orders weeks ago from Bucs icon and new linebackers coach Hardy Nickerson. The edict was to start lower and player lower.

David is quick to say he developed well and had strong coaching from the Greg Schiano regime (who could argue with his production?) but says this year things have kicked up a notch with Nickerson.

Without exact quotes, David explained to Joe why he’s already more explosive and cutting quicker to the ball in his altered stance.

Imagine if David somehow improves this season? Man, the NFL sure would struggle to handle an enhanced David, who’s already on a pace, albeit early, to follow in Derrick Brooks’ shoes.

Joe, can we please not do this to the poor guy? His name is Lavonte David not 2nd coming of Derrick Brooks.

Sorry, but Brooks himself has said David is better than Brooks was at the same age. –Joe

Derrick Brooks was here. Everybody wants him back. Looks like this dude will give it to us…at least in the short term. Can’t help the analogies.

  3. Tom Edrington Says:

    Why the surprise?

A lot of these players are getting genuine NFL coaching for the first time.

    Expect improvement across the board.

  4. BirdDoggers Says:

If David improves, or even plays at the same level, there’s no way he can be snubbed again in the Pro Bowl voting. What a sham that was.

  5. snook Says:

    An improved Lavonte?

    Frightening.

Did anyone else notice or hear during the HOF speeches how many new Bucs coaches were mentioned and thanked from different players?? I think our coaching will be a huge difference maker in many areas this year….stoked!!!

We’ve been comparing McCoy to Sapp and David to Brooks since they got here…and they’ve fulfilled the expectations. Let’s keep comparing them!

If you can find the solution, you can become a very rich man.

To get around them is quite simple:

    Droid: Hit the “back” button.
iPad/iPhone: Hit the “home” button then click the Safari icon.

Voila, the free world is still intact.

    Football is a spiritual game!

Just look at how much Brooks, Lynch, Barber, and Sapp LOVE EACH OTHER.

We need ouf fanbase to be just as POSITIVE and united as they were!

We need David to become the DON!

Thank Jah we drafted McCoy and not Suh! Suh is jerk! McCoy is a great, humble, kind man!!

I was 13 in the 1996. I remember the MAGIC of those teams! I grew up with Dunn and Alstott. And Grammatica. I was in the big sombrero to see Barry Sanders run for 200 on us.

    I love the Bucs!!!

    Dont you guys????

Andres-So what about the Derrick Brooks comparison, Lavonte is already in that class! If he were a no name with a ton of potential, I can see your point, but LD is an exceptional linebacker, comparing him to Brooks is really the best comparison.

He’s a sideline to sideline phenom just like Brooks, but in addition to the comparisons, LD is MUCH better than Brooks at rushing the passer…..ALREADY!

was in canton this weekend, saw no shortage of pics and video from Derrick’s glory days….lots of photos of him surveying the defense from that low stance, hands on knees. hard and #55 are decent guys to emulate, i’d say…
