Vincent Jackson II

May 8th, 2014
mike evans

New Bucs WR Mike Evans.

With a quarterback for the ages ready to be selected while you have a quarterback that Peter King stated the team called a “one-year band-aid,” the Bucs decided to draft Vincent Jackson.

Oh, wait. The Bucs already have Vincent Jackson. So they got his clone, Mike Evans, the top target of the quarterback you just passed on.

Nothing like stretching the field.

Evans may very well be a good wide receiver, but the only way Joe sees the Bucs stretching the field (as of now) is if greatly undervalued tight end Tim Wright breaks ankles of defensive backs.

    Joe is so mad.

  2. feelthepewterpower Says:

Buccs will trade back in the first round I bet…for a QB

  3. GlenninGrad Says:

    Wow so sorry joe

  4. bucrightoff Says:

Joe, you knew this was coming for months. Oh and how did Josh McCown do last year with two similar type receivers? Was it spectacularly? Sure was.

And for the love of God, no more Johnny articles ever again. He’s going to Cleveland, and if you wanna write Johnny articles become JoeBrownsFan.

  5. Snook Says:

Dumb. Drafting WRs in top 10 is dumb. Unless you have a franchise QB.

  6. Dave Says:

In 5 years when Manziel is out of the league and Evans is a pro bowler, hopefully we can hear the end of how great Manziel is gonna be.

  7. Paul McCartney Says:

Shut up guys. Manziel is what our team needed. Hope you all enjoy McCown sucking this season.

  8. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I can’t believe we passed on Johnny Manziel!

  9. Jeffobrien Says:

Start chugging joe I’m glad finally no more Johnny football articles

  10. Sam Says:

    Wow bitter much Joe?
C’mon man. Evans is a good pick. I see him as Jackson’s replacement

  11. The_Buc_Realist Says:

Joe, just so you know, we have setup cameras on the Skyway! Don’t do it.

  12. Teddy Says:

Here endeth the Johnny Football coverage. Thank God…

  13. bucrightoff Says:

Also lol at Quaterback for the ages.

  14. ForgotAboutDre Says:

Think about this Joe, McCown was excellent last year with Marshall and Jeffery, two big receivers. Evans and Jackson are pretty similar.

  15. AmbushBuc Says:

I am soooooo happy not to have to watch Manziel the douchebag. I don’t even care if Evans is an epic bust as long as it means no Manziel.

  16. Mark Says:

Someone notify the FHP to close the sun shine bridge to protect Joe.

    Go BUCS… love the pick.

  17. Snook Says:

    Headed to the Cowboys.

  18. bucsd04 Says:

    Joe is butt hurt!

  19. kryq Says:

Was really hoping for Manziel smh.

  20. Snook Says:

    Another 2 years of mediocrity….

  21. Bucs fan in Chicago Says:

Go Mike! Wish you the best young man.

  22. Nybucsfan Says:

Stupid I’m getting sick of this crap. What a joke wonder why we suck year in and out. We really need two of the same guy hope they can the pass the ball to each other

  23. Stevek Says:

Welcome to reality, my QB obsessive fellow Buc fans.

    We took the BPA

No we have the twin towers at WR.

  24. Jeffobrien Says:

Glennon mob where you at. Can’t wait to see jump balls to are 6″5 receivers try to stop it. Who you going to double now.

  25. anotherbucsfan Says:

Maybe last year Mccown had an OL.

  26. kh Says:

BAHAHAHAHA @ joe, Evans made Manziel, i might take johnny in the 2nd round

  27. ElioT Says:

QB for the ages? Is Joe smoking pot and listening to 3days grace right now?

    Haha!

Not thrilled with Evans, but happy we didn’t draft Manziel.

    Go Bucs!

  28. ForgotAboutDre Says:

JFF is slipping. We may have known he would and we’ll trade back in to get him.

  29. d-money Says:

    Awww Joe don’t cry buddy.

You were wrong. We tried to tell you you were wasting your time with all the Johnny football talk.

The truth is there was never any chance that the Bucs were going to take Him with the first pick.

And you’re just furthering my belief that you really don’t have a clue by dogging this pick. This is a great pick. Two Jackson’s is not a bad problem to have.

  30. BuckPuck Says:

Joe brainwashed you all. Evans is a great pick.

  31. Danny Says:

Maybe, this Johnny Football guy isn’t all that good. Great college QBs don’t always make great NFL QBs. These guys are professionals at evaluating talent. Got to trust that.

  32. Nybucsfan Says:

Good luck selling tickets and jerseys

  33. Warren Says:

Can’t make sense of passing on a QB!!! Pretty dumb…almost as dumb as Cleveland taking a CB!! Yeah I wanted JF BADLY…but would have still felt ok about one of the other stud QB’s out there. This draft seems to be a very strange one though so maybe we still get a QB in second round?

  34. eric Says:

who cares we did not want johnny football man now the JFM and go and sleep

  35. Jeffobrien Says:

Nybucs fan yeah that’s sucks if they are the same so we will have 2 80 catch 1200 receiving yards a year guy sounds awful

  36. ElioT Says:

If the Browns (twice) and Vikes passed on Manziel, that tells you all you need to know Joe. Go cry over some scotch with duemig.

  37. Cmurda Says:

With such a deep WR class and Lovie? No way did I think we were going this direction. The fact that we’ve gone through many QB needy teams, there has to be some reason Johnny is still on the board. Im trying to fight the pain and think of how exciting our WR corps can be. Just hope we get a Qb eventually.

  38. Patrick McV Says:

Pick your posion defenses . LOVE THIS PICK

  39. ForgotAboutDre Says:

Licht was just interviewed on the radio. They asked about passing on Manziel, Licht responded with, “The day is not over”.

  40. Sweets Willie Says:

6 5 package!! VJax, Evans, T Wright, Street are gonna ball!!

  41. Richard Says:

Looking forward to Joe constantly adding “the GM Who Passed on Johnny Football” to Licht’s name in every article.

  42. bucrightoff Says:

Licht just said Evans was the better A&M player than Manziel. Joe, I can only imagine what your next talk with Licht will be like. Probably involving not getting laid I would guess.

  43. lightningbuc Says:

    JOE KNOWS QBs

  44. Paul McCartney Says:

You all are dick heads. I’ll be laughing when McCown is a disaster and benched by week 5. Tampa fans don’t know anything about what a franchise quarterbacks are because they’ve never had one.

  45. Vincente Says:

Were actually have a high scoring offense this year!

  46. Snook Says:

    Michael Clayton Jr

  47. deminion Says:

    Love the Evans pick!!!

  48. SSG Mike Says:

Always uneasy about WR in the top 10 but this guy is an excellent fit next to VJ. Evans won’t have to start out as the marquee WR. I think we will still get an excellent QB prospect in the 2nd round although his name may not be Manziel unless he falls that far. Let’s see how that Glennon to Patriots rumor works out. Nice pick for us. Can’t wait to see it on the field.

  49. Couch Fan Says:

I told you there would be lots of tears. LMAO…

  50. mpmalloy Says:

    He mad

  51. pewterpirate99 Says:

This f’ing blows! Did we not learn anything when we drafted Michael Clayton ?! So now we have two Vincent Jackson, fucking great! Great job Jason Licht, you better hope Johnny M. is a major bust. Because if he’s not, it could jut cost you your first GM job. So we are going with the retarded baby giraffe and a guy who’s not even a has been………he’s a NEVER WAS as our quarterbacks, AWSOME!!! So far this draft blows for the Bucs, great way to make a splash and get the fans excited.

  52. rdbucfan Says:

Johnny Football is now Johnny Freefall

  53. Oahubuc Says:

Good. I love Vincent Jackson, and players like him.

  54. Paul McCartney Says:

If Manziel continues to fall, they need to trade up to get him. Manziel/Evans……the chemistry is already there.

  55. bucrightoff Says:

How hilarious will it be to see the Johnny Fans/Glennon haters around here if come Saturday night the Bucs don’t draft a QB at all? Get your popcorn ready…

  56. Milenko Says:

We missed JF. Maybe come back. “The draft isn’t over,” Bucs GM Jason Licht says when asked about passing on Johnny Manziel. I doubt it. We drank the JF kool-aid….

  57. Miracle Says:

My only contention is that it is a wasted pick. Don’t trade mike Williams and this would be a silly pick. This pick made that trade stupid.

The trade for revis was bucs worst? No flipping way, the mike Williams trade was since we now have the same comparable player with only a 6th rounder to show for it. Mike Evans can be good or great but it was an unnecessary pick if we would’ve kept Williams

  58. mpmalloy Says:

    Solid football pick.
We have a real braintrust that’s not swayed by
the likes of Gruden (who is a great game-day coach)
    but a terrible talent evaluator…

Last year McCown dominated in relief of Cutler by throwing
darts to two tall rangy wide receivers. Great pick.

  59. Paul McCartney Says:

Agreed Miracle. By drafting Evans, we basically just filled the hole that trading Williams left us.

  60. BuccoDav Says:

I didn’t watch alot of A&M football last year, but my first impression was that Mike Evans was a stud. He seemed to bail Manziel (refuse to refer as Johnny F×#$/^^*) out alot. Love this pick!

    You mad?

  62. Paul McCartney Says:

@mpmalloy…………last time I checked, Marc Trestman won’t be on the Bucs coaching staff this season. The guy was horrible for 11 seasons before he went to Chicago.

  63. d-money Says:

If you think this pick is just “filling a hole” then I can’t help you. You obviously know nothing about football.

  64. Ryan Says:

Jackson is 31 years old and at best has 2-3 years left in the tank. Evans is the 2nd best WR in the draft and some say a higher ceiling than Sammy Watkins this was a safe pick for the Bucs. Now to enjoy Manziel rot away in the green room Aaron Rodgers style…

  65. Paul McCartney Says:

Damn Cleveland has another 1st round pick? What is going on?

  66. Joshua Weese Says:

Manziel is terrible. Will fall and fall and fall. Evans made johnny, and was BPA.

  67. NHBuc76 Says:

Lovie’s presser said it all. The man is confident and took the best player for his team. Size rules in NFL. Go Bucs!
