The Scene At The Williams Knifing

March 26th, 2014
Witnesses set the scene of the knifing of Mike Williams Sunday, where his brother, Eric Baylor, now free on bond, is alleged to have knifed Williams.

Alleged witnesses set the scene of the knifing of Mike Williams Sunday. Williams’ brother and alleged attacker, Eric Baylor, is now free on bond.

In a story you will certainly want to click on and read, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times spoke with alleged witnesses at the scene of the crime at Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams’ house, when his brother, Eric Baylor, allegedly knifed Williams.

Auman paints a picture of a serene, lazy Sunday afternoon. Williams had hired a maid and a carpet cleaner to work for him in the exclusive Avila neighborhood, while “at least six” others, including Baylor, lounged inside watching the Kentucky-Wichita State game.

Williams had arrived home in pleasant mood, shook hands and smiled with the cleaners, thanking them outside his residence for doing a good job. But Williams’ mood quickly turned upon entering his home, perhaps still angered that his brother, Baylor, had recently damaged Williams’ Bentley. The two began “hollering” at one another, which escalated into a physical altercation where witnesses claim they saw Baylor plunge a pairing knife blade into Williams’ thigh.

“It went in him pretty good, I believe, from the amount of blood that was shooting everywhere,” said Vaughn, who said Williams yelled to him to “call the ambulance and call the police.”

Williams, 26, was rushed outside the home, and a friend who had been hanging out at the house took off his belt to apply a makeshift tourniquet to Williams’ left leg. The knife had punctured him in the thigh, just above the knee. Vaughn ran to his truck for a first-aid kit and towels to apply pressure.

“We pressed down hard on it until the ambulance got there,” said Vaughn, 39, who had never encountered such an emergency in 14 years of cleaning carpets.

Joe listened to Bucs general manager Jason Licht on SiriusXM NFL Radio last night and he mentioned that, yes, Bucs coach Lovie Smith spoke to Williams and believes Williams indeed was a victim of an ugly crime, a crime that sent him to the hospital for treatment.

Also last night, Baylor was sprung from the Orient Road jail in Tampa after posting $1,000 bond.

hopefully we trade Williams for a 7th round pick

  2. buc4life24 Says:

Paints a pretty clear picture that there was an argument that escalated to Williams being a VICTIM!

He probably needs to distance himself from drama and people who invite drama. Im sure he is already on a short leash from previous issues, but this shouldnt be what gets him cut! Sure management has already stressed to him to get it together!!

  3. Patrick in VA Says:

If he can pay at a high level then I don’t care what else he does. If his shenanigans get him arrested or hurt or otherwise unable to play/practice then he’s gotta go but otherwise it doesn’t matter at all. If his play slips at all and we have clear proof that his troubles are self inflicted then it’s no longer tolerable

  4. lurker Says:

people should probably stfu. judmental mothers on here.

  5. Ghost Says:

What kind of jackass puts mattresses out on their front lawn?
    Inquiring minds want to know.

  6. Eric Says:

I always get really pissed when someone damages my Bentley.

  7. BucNasty!!! Says:

Racism at its finest u can’t clearly look me n my eyes and say with a straight face and say it’s is fault and the company he keeps because a family member stabbed him. There’s no way u an foresee that or prepare for that type or accident/ assault whatever u ant to call it. Ppl have to b accountable for there actions and loud music at a party he’s guilty 4 but cut the malarkey thays why the world is the way it a bunch of over opinionated female men that can’t walk a straight lone if u place em on it. Let me see u become a millionaire athlete and maintain. When u put it all o it there you fiends are talkin about taking a receiver that had many career td receptions and6 yrds short of 1000 yrs season and get rid of him for a 7 round pick because he’s black and his brother stabbed him??? And miss me org the save money talk because we got more then 16 mill left n cap space were not hurting for money so u can have several seats for that 1 and if it offends u your the racist I’m talkin bout

  8. MTM Says:

Maybe this stabbing will help Williams street cred and bolster his rap career.

  9. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    And there goes the card

  10. buc4life24 Says:

Anyone else know what BucNasty is talking about?! Wow that was some rant there!

  11. Eric Says:

He was a willing participant in the fight with his brother over him damaging the Bentley.

That’s reckless behavior for anyone but particularly a pro athlete who earns a living with his body, as one can get hurt in said fight with his brother.

So I’m unwilling to assign him victim status. Put himself in a dumb position where he could get hurt and he got hurt.

  12. Espo Says:

WHO THE HELL CARES!?!? Just catch the ball!

  13. Eric Says:

And if you want to keep your Bentley damage free don’t let dumb asses use it!

And if you do get good insurance, the civilized way to resolve such matters vs. the WWF brawl.

  14. Espo Says:

I think the only thing racist about this thread is you playing the race card.

  15. Destinjohnny Says:

The saddest part about this story is that mike will be penniless 3 yeArs after he is done playing- mike sell that stupid car and put the money in some funds and in 25 years you will be able to reitire on that Alone.

  16. phil Says:

Well the judge told Mike’s brother to not have any contact with Mike. So I’m sure his brother is disappointed not to be able to have contact with his meal ticket.

  17. Chef Paul Says:

So his brother broke out the back window of the Bentley.

This is purely speculation, but after reading the story, I have a feeling Mike was telling his brother he was getting cut off from the money, and Baylor didn’t like that.

  18. Joe Says:

This is purely speculation, but after reading the story, I have a feeling Mike was telling his brother he was getting cut off from the money, and Baylor didn’t like that.

    Reasonable conclusion.

  19. Eric Says:

All he had to do is let it go, get the Bentley fixed, and relax in the mansion on the leather coach with the the hoes and watch the game on the big screen.

    Not hard.

  20. SeanyMac in SC Says:

I don’t care is MW19 wants to have all his “Cave Man” parties, I just don’t want to hear about it, and I’m quite sure the Glazer’s don’t want to hear about it as well. Tone it down MW19.

  21. BucNasty!!! Says:

He does catch the ball check his numbers he is and has been when healthy a productive reciever. His career hasn’t been laced with injuries so tell me why else should he be released or traded for a 7th round pick? And he’s a willing participant for a fight with his, brother??? Wow I mean what ekse do u do when someone comes at u with a knife scream no please it’s all my fault I should b sitting home alone studying football with no contact to humanity because I’m held accountable for the actions of other because I’m a paid athlete!!!! U clowns on this site are funny…..well I guess they’re doing a good hob of teaching at clown school lmao u have no reason for these get rid of MW posts unless there race involved because all I’ve seen thus far was he’s not productive and keep bettet company than your family. That’s what I call cheap cop out reasoning

  22. BucNasty!!! Says:

So why should he be released or traded for a 7th round pick espo???? I must hear your logic

  23. MTM Says:

I’m sure Mike’s a great locker room guy and comes prepared to work. Oh wait he had 200K in fines from the club. Sounds like a great teammate!

  24. Joe Says:

Oh wait he had 200K in fines from the club.

    Sure about that?

  25. biff barker Says:

The frat house will soon be the poor house. Gotz to cut loose the posse Mike.

  26. Joe Says:

Gotz to cut loose the posse Mike.

From what Joe has heard (before the stabbing), William’s brother is his albatross.

Kind of hard to tell your brother to f’ off for life.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sounds like a Directv Commercial…..If you have friends over to watch a game…”Don’t get your carpet cleaned or your brother will stab you in the leg”

  28. Espo Says:

I would not like him to be released or traded, especially for a low pick. You must read as well as you write. I was trying to say none of this matters, I only care about his performance.

  29. Joe Says:

Sounds like a Directv Commercial…..If you have friends over to watch a game…”Don’t get your carpet cleaned or your brother will stab you in the leg”

  30. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

“Kind of hard to tell your brother to f’ off for life.”

That stabbed me? At worst, he could disassociate with anyone who brings him down, including his brother, until he completes his career.

People at that age don’t realize life is pretty long (minus the stabbings). And that NFL careers are pretty short. And the league is turning into a league where many guys spend much of their off time hiring coaches or doing other things to get an edge for the season. Meanwhile, CMG!!

  31. Harry Says:

    @Oil Derrick Brooks Says:
    “…And there goes the card…”

LOL, saw that one myself and I am like “what”? People…

  32. Joe Says:

    Well, before the stabbing. 🙂

  33. Warthog Says:

I have fought with my brother before. Siblings fight. Ain’t Mikes fault his brother lost it and got excessively violent. People need to take a step back from the ledge, this is minor by the standards of the kinds of incidents that nfl athletes get themselves involved in. Remember when Ray Lewis killed that guy?

  34. Harry Says:

“…From what Joe has heard (before the stabbing), William’s brother is his albatross.

Kind of hard to tell your brother to f’ off for life….”

I’ve done it. It is a process – step by step. It is drilled into us: “family, family, family”. But the truth is, family will f-k you even faster. It just takes several of these kind of situations before one realizes that the brother who stabbed me in the leg does not really care about me. He needs to go…

  35. WalkdaPlank Says:

It was obvious! Baylor unwisely had Witchita State making it to the final four on his bracket and lost out on his billion dollars! He then stabbed Mike when he got home in anger for suggesting to put Wichita State higher in the bracket because “they were undefeated”.

  36. Bucsfanman Says:

Oh how the opinions change when the story is told. None of this matters one iota to you or me. It’s his cross to bear.
Oh, but be young, rich, and full of life and want or try to be something different and every one’s got an opinion. Shame on those who pass judgement lest they be judged(Yeah, I went biblical, so what!).
There’s one thing that matters as it pertains to Mike and the Bucs; go win some games!

  37. Warthog Says:

Before you cast judgement on this guy and declare he should disassociate from his family or friends due to the job he has, ask yourself if you’d welcome being told how to run your private life by a bunch of anonymous strangers on the internet. You think you have enough background information and context on Mike Williams’ family relationships to judge him, purely based on some media reports you read on the internet? Laughable.

Just cos you own a Bucs jersey or season tickets doesn’t mean you own the lives of Bucs players. If Williams had done something wrong in this situation, the law would have punished him. It didn’t. He didn’t. Case closed.

  38. Harry Says:

Interesting article in PFT about Steven Ross endorsing (bully) Mike Pouncey as an “outstanding young man” when in the Wells Report he was shoulder to shoulder with Incognito in the bullying stuff.

But be 23 years old, have millions, leave your mattress in the yard and get stabbed in the leg by your crazy brother – you should be cut or traded for a can of old tuna fish. Some of you are a littler off…

  39. BucNasty!!! Says:

Every one says it doesn’t matter just perform on the field…has he not, performed on the field??? In my opinion he has so y is this even a,story if it doesn’t matter. There has to b a reason for the MW interest all of a sudden espo?? Care to elaborate?

  40. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

The comments on that article are far more interesting to me then what Ross says.

  41. kh Says:

A Bentley and a crew of hangers-on, he’ll be broke before he knows it.

  42. bornandRAYSed Says:

BucNasty you are the clown. Why do you care if people want to run MW out of town? They aren’t the GM and its their personal opinion, just like my opinion is you’re a complete idiot for pulling the race card. This has nothing to do with race. This has to do with a Buc player who is obviously making selfish, stupid decisions over and over again while bringing unwanted, negative publicity to OBP. I dont care if you can catch a football, it doesn’t make you immune to laws and public criticism.

  43. lightningbuc Says:

I had no idea you could get your carpet cleaned on a Sunday! Learn something new every day.

  44. Eric Says:

No one would know what happens at William’s house, if the cops weren’t repeatedly called out there to report it.

  45. lightningbuc Says:

Yes, Buc Nasty, most racists choose to follow a sport that is predominantly played by black men!

  46. BucNasty!!! Says:

I don’t care but I call a space a spade don’t say u want him ran out of town not u but the mob and say it’s because of production because he clearly has been producing so it can’t b that now when I ask the real question it can’t b answered. Accordding to u guys it’s not race it’s being unproductive and putting himself in bad positions that’s bs I call a spade a spade if it’s not race ita clearly not from production and bad company being his fault so stop it lmao u claim the hate stems from things that aren’t true so it leads me to believe it’s more to your hate then what’s on he surface lol comical a 4th round draft pick has a few yrds shy of a 1000 yrds an ample career tds. But we must cut him because he’s unproductive lmao. Try another lame cop out excuse bornandraysed

  47. Westsidebucsfan Says:

Oh look, someone playing the race card…. What a loser!

  48. Chef Paul Says:

I see 2 consistent racists in these comment sections. Barry and BucNasty.

  49. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Notice there’s another, what, 50 guys or so on the roster that I have absolutely no idea what is going on with them?

Unless you are in the news for giving away houses to needy single moms, it’s best to stay out of the headlines.

  50. BucNasty!!! Says:

U don’t have to b a racist to say something racist but to say a 4th round draft pick who has many tds ands a few yrds shy of a 1000 yrd season is unproductive is mind boggling if anything he has over performed for where he was drafted that’s called production so to say otherwise leads me to believe him being seen as a trouble maker may have something to do with his nationality because it clearly isn’t the reason guys are, saying lol instead of jumping on me for speculating reasons how bout u guys stop throwing out false accusations and say y u truly want him gon did he bang 1 of your Tampa girlfriends cuz he’s been a pretty productive wr n my book so what’s really real?

  51. BucNasty!!! Says:

Ok well I see delusional ppl so I’m trying to find the correct motive do u truly believe being a few yrds short of a 1000 yrds season while being, drafted n the 4th round is someone who us uproductive??

  52. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

So, tell me, is Lovie a racist when he said:

“There’s a pattern here and it’s disturbing. No one is bigger than this football team. He has to understand that,” Smith said. ”Have I been disappointed in Mike Williams? Of course. There’s a standard. We’re just not going to put up with it, no matter who it is. You have to be good on the field and off the field. Simple as that. And if you’re not doing what you need to do one or the other, you have problems and that’s where Mike has to take care of a few things.”

He didn’t have to say that. He chose to say that.

  53. Westsidebucsfan Says:

I think the real motive is that you have a man crush on MW and his “4 yards shy of 1000 yard season”. He may not have “banged my tampa girlfriend” but I see you have a major thing for him and it’s actually disturbing. People want him but because they are tired or hearing his name in the news. While MW is in the hospital for being stabbed, vincent Jackson bought 400 hockey tickets and have them away to military families. That’s the type of news we want to see as fans. Not another house party gone wrong, arrest for destruction of property or him being stabbed. So please get off the racist stuff!

  54. Buc the Haters Says:

I think the whole situation could’ve been handled better by Williams. Therefore, the violent outcome is basically his fault. He should realize that if you’re going to let people borrow your Bentley, there’s an inherent risk of damage that’s a given. He should act more civilized when something does go wrong (murphy’s law) and handle it like a true Bentley owner should and simply make a claim to his insurance and politely ask the gentleman who was driving to please be more careful in the future, instead starting an argument like an uncivilized caveman. What do they say? U can take the boy out of the ghetto, but u can’t take the ghetto out of the boy

  55. Chef Paul Says:

Williams before new contract- 56.8 yards per game.
After new contract- 36 yards per game.

    Maybe it was the QB?

Vincent Jackson last year- 76.5 yards per game.
Tim Wright last year- 35.7 yards per game.

No he hasn’t performed up to his contract.

It is possible (besides what you may believe) a guy can think one individual is a turd and not hate on the entire race.

  56. BucNasty!!! Says:

He also said he has no plans to cut him because he’s productive thAT WHAT u guys keep yelling for so yes I have a man crush for production would u rather us cut him and keep Underwood I kno he’s n Carolina jusy a point. No u guys want to nitpick and dictate ppls every move like schiano lmao u want to tell him he’s causing to much global warming now to because of his choices lmao o maybe he should only buy organic foods from the market from on or n a contract year lmao let the man play football because when he does he’s prdouctive. Lol man keep it 100 an I bet u guys said Riley Cooper deserves a 2nd chance cuz he’s a good community guy lmao dnt quit ya day jobs fellas

  57. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

He didn’t say he wouldn’t trade him, though. Stay tuned.

  58. lightningbuc Says:

I guess all the people wanting Glennon replaced must hate white people!

  59. BucNasty!!! Says:

He hasn’t had a,chance to love up o his contract he’s had a half season with lackluster qb play I said live up to his draft status an yes he’s past thay test with flying colors what other 4th round recievers even get a,2nd contract. Let him b productive and play well and continue to stay out of trouble because n my book u can’t blame a guy that got stabbed because it was a relative because if that’s the case just blame me for his stabbing cuz I had something to do with it just don’t tell the fuzz lol

  60. Buc the Haters Says:

Do all black people refuse to use punctuation? Just curious…. Punctuation aint gangsta

  61. Westsidebucsfan Says:

I know everyone is thinking it so I’m just going to come out and ask… Bucnasty, do you proof read or use spellcheck when you type this garbage up? It is extremely hard to read what you write.

  62. lightningbuc Says:

My eyes hurt after reading (attempting to read) his drivel.

  63. BucNasty!!! Says:

Not at all lol I,care less to go back,an spellchecks or fix text errors grow a sack u all kno what I mean I didn’t think we had a group of college professors lol but rral talk ppl hate glennon cuz he sucks a ton of a$$ screw the fact he’s white I’d,love o have Tom Brady don pewter. Yet we,sit here and talk about letting productivity go for unproductive potential lmao knock it off man just keep it real if your not having a racist opinion about this, topic then,it doesn’t apply but to,say he’s,unproductive is a flat out lie and travesty so get your excuses right b4 u come for my speculation

  64. pick6 Says:

bummer. blood everywhere right after the carpets got cleaned.

  65. Buc1987 Says:

I wish the entire team was white so us white guys can truly support the entire team and not just the white guys. It really is going to be hard to root for Lovie this season considering he’s a black guy and all. (All sarcasm)

    BucNasty…stop being so racist.

  66. BBFFC Says:

Ghetto, posse, hoes, rapping jokes, he’ll be broke in a year ect. None of that sounds racial to me.

  67. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

The education system has failed us.

  68. Buc the Haters Says:

Bbffc, u were making pretty accurate assumptions there, right up until the poppycock….

  69. Buc the Haters Says:

Bbffc, so ur saying that ghettos consist entirely of black people? That’s racist… Or black people are the only ones who have hoes, a posse, and like to rap? That’s quadruple racist!

  70. lightningbuc Says:

Nah ODB, you just can’t fix stupid!

  71. Maze Says:

At least the leader of the Cave Man Gang can now incorporate knife fighting into his next album. MW19 will probably be playing for the Bucs next season as long as he can stay at least a knifes distance from his brother. He has now entered untradable status so hopefully Mike still has some fire in him.

  72. BBFFC Says:

I’m not calling any one a racist, but those terms are racially charged. Fact. Don’t use them if you don’t want to be misunderstood to be prejudiced. Assuming you don’t want to sound like a racist 😉

The education system has failed us if you think reverse racism is a bigger problem than real racism! Lol. Trying to shout down anyone who mentions racial issues as a racist themselves is ridiculous, obviously, but that’s the typical response these days, apperantly. Don’t be so defensive!

  73. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Imo, the issue is that people who claim racism where there is no racism are doing a disservice to people who actually are suffering from the effects of actual racism.

Make no mistake, racism exists. It does damage, and people are still struggling. But, a young millionaire living in a neighborhood that I will never live in is not that person. Maybe we just have a different opinion then you on how players should represent the team off the field. If you have a problem with that, then go look at Lovie’s quote. He seems to have the same opinion.

If I were a racist, I’m not sure being a NCAA and NFL football fan would be helpful. I’m not that much of a masochist (all longterm Bucs fans are borderline masochists).

  74. Nick H Says:

Reverse racism? That’s not a thing. This is clearly out of hand.

    Don’t cut Mike Williams, etc.

  75. Chef Paul Says:

Very well put. I was trying to find the words to say just that, but you did better than I could have. Disservice is a great word. It’s just like the story of the boy who cried wolf.
Except I had to look up Masochist, not knowing what it means. I still don’t get it in relation to the context you used it in. HAHA.

I guess the education system has failed me. Or I have failed the education system.

  76. Chef Paul Says:

EUREKA!!! Now I get it. I’m not dumb, just a little slow. I swear.

  77. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

LOL. The 80’s Bucs still haunt me.

  78. BBFFC Says:

Good points ODB. I went out of my way to say I wasn’t calling anyone racist. Just that some of the terms being thrown around are “not helpful”, to put it in coach-speak that everyone is so happy to quote and take seriously.

Bottom line on the whole situation is, he stays a Buc ….. for now. Hope he gets it together, calling the cops on his own brother was a good move in the right direction I hope. He’s a good WR and we sure can use him if we ever hope to get a reprieve from our masochistic tendencies as bucs fans thus year!

  79. pick6 Says:

how is that people are being accused of stereotyping mike williams. he has been working very hard on social media and in his non-football life to establish credibility for him and his CMG hangers-on as rappers living the stereotypical hip hop lifestyle. so it would seem that mike williams is very deliberately stereotyping mike williams. hard for anybody in the williams camp to take offense to people assuming williams is the guy he tries so hard to be on instagram and twitter.

  80. Espo Says:

I still say MW needs to pack up and move to an equally as nice house in Lutz or Odessa with neighbors a bit farther away so no-one gives a crap how many mattresses he has in his yard.

  81. Hawaiian Buc Says:

As I’m sure you know, racism is alive and well in society. I’m sure this site is littered with racists, but I can guarantee you that there’s a ton of people on this site that aren’t racist at all. However, you can’t judge who is and who isn’t racist by where they stand on this case.

I can’t speak for everyone, so I’ll speak for myself. I root for Mike Williams. I have from the day we drafted him. I hope all this stuff is nonsense, or at least behind him. I want him to be on this team for his entire career, and I want him to help us win championships. However, I can’t say that I trust him at this point. That has absolutely nothing to do with race, but everything to do with the image that HE has portrayed, as well as the incidents with the law. If he were white, I can honestly say I would have the exact same opinion. Fact of the matter is, if he wasn’t a productive WR, I wouldn’t even struggle with wanting him on the team or not wanting him on the team. He is, however, a good player, so I really just want him to straighten up and be a member of this team.

I have no problem with him being in a rap group. I actually like rap music – grew up listening to it and still do (although since I have young kids, I tend to listen to more pop hip hop than the stuff I used to). That’s not the issue to me at all. The issue is that he keeps doing stupid stuff. As the father of a 9 year old who looks up to these players like they are celebrities, I don’t like what he represents (over the last few months). Like it or not, that’s part of his job. He is held to a higher standard than the regular Joe. I remember when he got his bogus DUI his rookie year, he impressed me by taking responsibility and apologizing (even though he really didn’t have to). However, he’s been very defiant when addressing all these incidents this offseason. He’s not the same man he was 4 years ago. That’s a shame, and that’s why it’s becoming harder and harder for me to want him on this team. Football is a game where the players can be replaced. More so than any other sport. While he is good, he’ll never be mistaken as Megatron. It all comes down to is he worth all the trouble. For me, he’s certainly walking the tight rope, but race is honestly not one consideration for me.

  82. BucNasty!!! Says:

I can dig it Hawaiians I’m not saying because ppl want him gone they are racist I was askin the ppl who said he should b cut or traded for 7th round pick have racist motives behind there claims because there reasoning was he was unproductive or he was the cause of his own situation because of the company he keeps. And so I guess the eagles shouldn’t have traded for Darren sproles after his wife had a spat against the saints on Twitter because it was bad for the team view. But that was out of his control what his wife did so should he have been held accountable for that??? Or maybe he should have divorced her so she potentially might not have said it if he foreseen those events taking place n his crystal ball??

  83. BoJim Says:

Aren’t most of the players on the Bucs black? Yet we still love them. You’re an idiot.
