Talking Darrelle Revis

February 27th, 2014

The chatter of a potential Darrelle Revis trade has hit the studios of BSPN. Somehow finding time not to talk the non-basketball association, Andrew Brandt, Ashley Fox and Louis Riddick discuss the possibility of the Bucs shipping out Revis.

At least I now know exactly why I don’t watch these people. Does everybody forget or just doesn’t hear what Lovie said about man coverage? This is just a joke of a story. No that’s not against the Joes, just sad when when these people can’t figure out the words that came out of a coach’s mouth

  2. Anthony Says:

Darrelle Revis isn’t going anywhere. Lovie Smith said when he got here that he has big plans for Revis. He also said this “We’re primarily going to be a man team. Whether we win or lose is going to be based on how we play man coverage.” This means that Lovie Smith & DC Leslie Frazier are going to find a way to use him the right way. DARRELLE REVIS IS HERE TO STAY. I also believe that Tampa Bay will find a way to restructure Revis’ contract.

  3. SAMCRO Says:

Just like always, the media likes to push the agenda. Just like they did with the Jets trade with the Bucs. Even though talks between Idzik and Dominik were in it’s early stages and both sides were posturing, the media tried their collective best to expedite the trade. It makes for great drama, even if Lovie and Licht said publicly they were not interested in any trade, the media tries to read more into it than what they are actually hearing.

  4. BucsQcCity Says:

Saw that cap space should improve in the next years to up north of 140M$. This means that Revis locked for 5 years, with considering the cap increase might be a good deal after all. It also means that trading interest might go up.

Either way I’m fine with what L&L will judge optimal.. Can’t wait for the start of FA

  5. Clowney Says:

Revis and his constant companion/manager have always insisted that his compensation be of primary importance. Now that they have achieved their goal, I don’t see them backing down.

In other words, they are not about to take one for the team. They are probably behind the rumors of a possible trade.

The Bucs have to pay him, trade him or cut him. They are severely handcuffed as far as negotiating future salary.

  6. bigpoppabuc Says:

I don’t care about this scene talk. Man or zone… Both are played and sometimes simultaneously. And revis isn’t just a press corner… In fact, his greatest talent is his ball skills.

  7. Snook Says:

A LaCanfora turd is very difficult to flush apparently. This won’t go away….

    Why? Because its FEBRUARY.

Watch enough NCAA and NBA and you’ll make stuff up too.

  8. Joe Dunn Says:

    1) There are WAY too many people spouting all day long these days about sports…..many are unqualified

    2) There may be too many TV channels and (see above)

    3) If you are a NO-NAME hack trying to get media attention, hell, just MAKE UP A STORY that starts with “what if??”

    4) Remember, just like in the State Farm commercial, just because you see it on the internet ( or TV ) does NOT mean it is true.

    5) Remember # 4 TWICE, please

    6) I think EVERYBODY, including every TV and radio person, every production person, phone screener etc etc has a MOCK DRAFT for God’s sakes.

    7) By the way, how is 98.7 doing in the ratings vs. 620? Anybody have FACTS?

  9. SAMCRO Says:

I can’t see why even if Tampa plays cover 2 as there base defense why they still couldn’t put a little wrinkle in it have Revis play man on the opponents best receiver all game while everyone else plays zone. It would discourage throwing to their best receiver, essentially taking him out of the game.

  10. Bucsfan47 Says:

I just want to know how I can get paid to talk nonsense. There’s no way that the Bucs release Revis. What’s the point? There’s no one that will be available to replace him especially at his level. Also what other free agents are coming that you want to use that money on. Not many big names from what I can tell that would require big money.

So my question is while you lose one of the best corners in the league for what? What do you need the cap space for?

  11. Snook Says:

LaCanfora writing a story regarding a possible Revis trade is equally credible as a high school kid doing a mock draft in February.

He’s a hack. Wish people wouldn’t take so much stock in what he writes.

  15. Harry Says:

  16. Buc1987 Says:

    I hear ya LUVMYBUCS.

  17. Joe Dunn Says:

    Thanks Joe.

I suddenly realized that my post may not get much support, since a lot of the people that post on HERE think they are experts as well – – :-((

  18. Jerry Says:

Roy Cummings pretty much killed this story yesterday. But ESPN needs to push an agenda.

  19. Joe Dunn Says:

Wanna get really analytical on Revis??
