Tone Of Revis’ Anti-Schiano Comments Explained

January 23rd, 2014

The tone of a man’s quotes aren’t always clear in print. Stuff can get fuzzy in the translation from voice to type sometimes.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times joined WDAE-AM 620 this morning to detail his recent chat with Darrelle Revis and where Revis’ heart and mind was when he criticized the New Schiano Order. (Full audio below)

I hope Revis is given competition this camp. He gave up quite a few plays toward the end of the season and I’m not impressed. He said he still wasn’t really ready after ACL surgery. Well my question to him is, Why did you play? Why didn’t you sit out the season if you were detrimental to the team? Greed? You wanted that $1,000,000 a game paycheck? Give this guy some competition. Make him earn it. If he can’t blow the doors off his camp competition, then send him to the trade block.

See, not only do I think this guy is overly hyped, I also don’t think just because he makes all that money that it makes him that smart. Revis, because of his greed, is holding back the development of our younger corners. They don’t want to upstage Revis, so sometimes I think they hold back.

    Great Interview, thanks.

SAMCRO – Your post is nonsense! First of all, Revis’ definition of not really ready is levels superior to anything Tampa has experienced in years. Secondly, who in da hell on Tampa’s roster is Revis holding back?

schiano’s scheme was horrible and it was pathetic to watch, revis didnt say anything out of the obvious, when mccoy has to go to his coach to tell him to stop all the stunts which were his best games….he’s an idiot and deserves all the criticism he gets. Revis jumps stands out on tape or gameday, i saw richard sherman when he played the bucs, he is supposed to be the best corner in the league i didnt see anything special whatsoever, no corner in the league can say a guy never made a play on them, everyone at the corner position gets beat but dont think for one second that his humble ego isnt saying i will be the best corner in the game again next year….he was the best we had on this team

i didnt see revis get abused very often maybe thats because it was always leonard johnson everyone picked on but thats another story
