Secondary Withering Away

November 19th, 2013

Significant injuries are piling up and cornerback Michael Adams is lost for the season.

There’s a crisis brewing in the Bucs’ defensive backfield as the New Schiano Order prepares for the pass-happy Detroit Lions.

Veteran cornerback Michael Adams, who logged a lot of snaps since returning from knee surgery last month, was placed on injured reserve yesterday with a fresh knee injury. It also was learned, per Greg Schiano, rookie starting CB Johnthan Banks has a new and “very painful” shoulder injury.

CB Danny Gorrer has been inactive the past two weeks with a new groin issue. And there’s a looming one-game suspension for safety Dashon Goldson for, you know, being The Hawk. So the Bucs are a mess in the secondary.

Thankfully, Darrelle Revis is healthy and primed to lock down Calvin Johnson. The trash talk started quietly on Sunday, in case you missed it.

But the Bucs will be thin. This troubles Joe because in addition to attempting more than 40 passes per game, the Lions allow the fewest sacks in the NFL. With the Bucs’ questionable pass rush, that’s a terrible mix for a depleted secondary.

Maybe the coaching staff should move some of the D-Lineman to the Secondary since they have been dropping into pass coverage for two seasons anyway

Well it looks like the Bucs O is going to have to step it up then. I hope your ready for part 2 Rainey, because they are going to need you.

Looks like Dominik will be busy finding someone to replace Adams and fill in for all the injuries. Aside from Revis and Barron, it doesn’t look good.

Banks just to have play through the pain. We need to be out shopping for a couple new corners anyway, might as well get started now.

I think Goldson will win his appeal again….we have a couple of CBs on the practice squad….next man up!!!

Corners and defensive line is where most of the upcoming draft’s picks should be spent on.

I want a proven veteran on the other side of Revis next season. No more rookies. Banks is improving though, but I want a veteran.

Adams is a “try hard” little duffer but not a huge loss in my opinion. He reminds me of Raheem’s fellow Hofstra ” hanger -on” ( can ‘t remember his name-must have blocked it out). Anywho…it’s that time of year when the war of attrition wages on fo most teams…

It sucks but injuries happen but what sucks more is the looming suspension on Goldson. These rules are ruining the game. I get player safety and all, but WTF??? If this trend keeps going I guess I may have to just watch the lingerie football league since the hitting is more intense at this point and the scenery is better. LOL

Make sure you fantasy guys start whoever L.Johnson will be covering. It will be a huge statistical day for that receiver. Damn that’s gonna suck.
