Seattle Shouldn’t Light Up The Scoreboard

November 1st, 2013

The Seahawks are minus wide receivers Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin, and Darrelle Revis is back playing press man coverage (as Joe reported in detail last night) so he can lock down Golden Tate.

Damn, with tight end Zach Miller having a down year and Mark Barron drafted to shut down opposing tight ends, Seattle might not complete a pass Sunday! Throw in the Bucs’ strong run defense, which has taken a step back this season, and Tampa Bay just might make it a ballgame.

Well, Bucs fans can dream. But the Bucs should be able to match up defensively.

If Mike James can break out and the Bucs can win the special teams battle, Bucs fans might still be paying close attention in the fourth quarter.

And, if the coaching staff misses the team bus & does not attend the game, the Bucs do have a shot!

  2. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I’m sticking with my 34-10 prediction. I think Mike Glennon will have his roughest day as a Buccaneer against the Seahawks pass rush, crowd noise and secondary.

  3. bucsfan13 Says:

    14-10 bucs win!

  4. JT Says:

I am absolutley infuriated that the team I love is the laughing stock of pro sports. Not the nfl. Pro sports! Hearing how garbage my team is and listening to analyasts spit on them every chance they get is maddening. And even when a tampa team does well (rays) oh it doesnt matter they have no fans! Give me a break! I am truly disturbed at the state if tampa bay sports especially the bucs. I was born and raised here and it hurts beyond words to see the team I love picked apart.

  5. pewterpirate99 Says:

38-6 or 31-9, either way Bucs lose. Just keeping it real, I’m not looking at this team through pewter and red colored glasses like some of you do.

  6. coach80m Says:

    Turkey shoot.

  7. bucbucbuc Says:

HAHHA keep it close….please. Seattle almost blew the Monday night game, there’s no way Pete Carroll lets his team come out flat vs. Tampa. We’re going to get murdered.

  8. andres Says:

No way in heck Bucs win this game Joe hahahaha

  9. WalkdaPlank Says:

I don’t think so. Just because the Seahawks are a little injured doesn’t mean jack-squat when playing the Bucs. Need I remind anybody of the Atlanta game? Not to mention against the Panthers the defense was terrible. Revis was playing good man to man against Steve Smith, and Cam Newton was still torching the defense with his arm. And also there’s these two guys named Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch. Just like with Newton, if Wilson can’t beat you with his arm, he’ll beat you with his legs. And Marshawn Lynch is not an easy guy to bring down, hopefully the Bucs can at least hold their reputation of having a good run defense if nothing else.

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

@JT if you’re into hockey I believe the Lightning are doing well this season, and attendance is great at the Times Forum.

  11. Bobby Says:

If we play hard and smart for 4 quarters we can win but we haven’t done that yet.

  12. Macabee Says:

I think I heard that same argument when we played the Falcons and they did not have Julio Jones or Roddy White. I going to pin this one on the noisy stadium!

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Is it possible….yes….is it likely….no….would I take the points….maybe.

But I will tell you this…it is disturbing to see all of those who are rooting for 0-16. That is discraceful. I’ll bet you really meant it when you vowed “in sickness & in health, till death do us part”…….yea…first sign of trouble…you’re a quitter. Its a good thing we don’t have a team full of you.

  14. Couch Fan Says:

    @Bobby

Agreed. If we stop beating ourselves, we can compete with this team or any other team. Thats a big if though.

  15. LaughingStock II Says:

The weekend comes around and many seem to forget the coaches game plan.
This is the main problem. I will not be surprise to see us get burn with more magical schemes with our defensive line.

Who has the pitcher of KOOL-AID???

    Fill up my mug!!!

  16. Bucfan#37 Says:

I’m thinking the Bucs will cover getting 16 and a half points. Anyway I’ll be pulling for them just like I did for the Bulls last night against Houston.

  17. Cmurda Says:

If the coaching staff does a good job of preparing and the defense comes to play, we will lose by single digits.

  18. Skelly Says:

Well, either way, this game will be fun. If we win, I’ll be drunk and celebrating. IF we lose, I’ll be drunk and we’ll one step closer to Franchise QB. ahem, I mean Matthews. Thats for you Joe!

    Go BUCS!!!!

And I will say this. If some how, some way, we can figure out how to win in Seattle, all the media will be saying…Ummm, maybe they are better than their record, instead of making fun of tampa for week. Fingers crossed.

  19. Mr Lucky Says:

Joe as I read your piece about the Bucs I thought:

    1. Is today April Fool’s early?

    2. Is Joe smoking wacky weed and writing?

I’m not even taking the Bucs and 16 points with my bookie on this lopsided match.

I hope the Glazers are so embaressed after this loss they tell Schiano to stay in Seattle and don’t come back!

  20. Drew H. Says:

This is nearly identical to the prediction for the Atlanta game….just going to find the WR4 and turn him into a 1 vs our quack ass scheme of a defense.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Yep 0-8 here we come. The game should be over by halftime. Is it April yet?

  22. pewterpirate99 Says:

    @TampsaBayBucFan

Hey I’m not rooting for them to lose, I’m just EXTREMELY realistic. I know what I see and I what I see is a sinking ship going down fast with Capt. Mussoilni at the helm. This season is DONE, except it! This is the team I LOVE and I ALWAYS want them to contend for a championship or at least get the chance to by going to the playoffs. However I’m not going to sit here and say that I want them to start winning MEANINGLESS games for the sake of not ending up with a horrible record, when we could be in position to draft our choice of any quarterback in the upcoming draft. Especially since this up coming draft is suppose to be rich in QB talent, and we need a franchise QB to go anywhere in this pass happy league. I like Mikey I really do, but he is not a franchise blue chip QB.

  23. Eric Says:

    Seal clubbing.

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Pewterpirate

We just see things differently…to me there is absolutely no such thing as a meaningless game…just not in my DNA….as you say…the draft is “rich” in QBs…..so, I can root for us to win and probably still end up with a good one.
The question I pose is….Do you really sit there and hope we lose?….because….that’s what it looks like to me.

  25. holymoly Says:

Thanks Joe, really needed a good laugh. As somebody once said, you never know.

  26. Greg Says:

JT…if you are truly disturbed because a bunch of millionaires who do not care about you, me or Joe are playing sports poorly and that people do not go to Rays games…this really brings you down…you need to rearrange your priorities…focus on something that actually matters and is important.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Pewterpirate99

I read your post again….you say you don’t root for them to lose…then you say you don’t want them to win meaningless games….I don’t see a distinction….you can’t have it both ways….If you want them to lose so they will get a better draft pick….fine…but just admit to it.

  28. pewterpirate99 Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

Hey moron are you blind or just stupid ? What’s the first thing I wrote ? Here let me help you, ” I’m not rooting for them to lose I’m just EXTREMELY realistic.” I bleed red and pewter and I always will!!! In meaningless games I mean in the sense that there’s NO SAM HELL way that this team makes the playoffs this year. I have ZERO confidence in this ENTIRE coaching staff and as long as Sgt. Hulka is running things over at One Buc Place, and yes I said running things, this team will not make the playoffs

  29. Tampabaybucsfan Says:

    @pirate
So you would rather be 0~16 than 1~15

Looks like you bleed pink to me !!!

  30. The Dom must go Says:

REALLY? I could win the lottery sat nite also. Come on man your site use to give good info about the team, what has happened to you Joe??? Now you just sound like the FLAG ship station all good all the time ??? Rockstar sucks … Coach sucks … Glazers sucks for what they have done to this team over the past 6 years … Now YOU suck!!! MAN up and tell like you really see it and not thru the pewter glasses DOM bought you!! Will not be long before you start losing fans just like the team!!!!!!!!!

  31. []_[]Buc Says:

    Any given Sunday

I actually feel good about Sunday.

Although I want Mariota or Bridewater, I hate losing even more.

And although I have really lost faith in the coaching staff. These players are still professionals and I believe in them. With the guys we have it really can be any given Sunday. I hate and I won’t go into a Sunday clamoring a blowout loss.

    Let’s go Bucs!

  32. Architek Says:

We will lose in a blowout unfortunately – this is the lowest we have ever been with a half decent roster.

  33. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    []_[]Buc

I’m with you….”realistic” is not betting the mortgage on the Bucs….but wanting to win…that’s why they play….I sure am glad our coaches & team haven’t quit like some of the fans.
“Meaningless” game…I guess we have had our majority over the years….I guess you can add “Meaningless” seasons..to that…

  34. Harry Says:

I want some of what you are smoking Joe. You got some good stuff! Good for you!

  35. Patrick Says:

The Beatles dentist has made his way Tampa and has slipped some acid into Joe’s coffee as well.

  36. Cmurda Says:

I would be surprised if we won but not shocked. We are due. With that said, some of you act like Joe is guaranteeing a win. He said, “If Mike James can break out and the Bucs can win the special teams battle, Bucs fans might still be paying close attention in the fourth quarter”.

What is wrong with that statement. First of all, he said we would be in the game late. Never said we would win it. Secondly, how can you argue that logic. If Mike James has a good game then clearly we are running the ball. If we are running the ball, we must be in the game. If we get some opportunities that are set up by special teams and we hit our fgs then how hard is it to agree that we will be in the game.

I think there is a strong chance we hang in this game until the end but I haven’t seen us finish one game yet. I don’t think we get it done against Seattle and the 12th man but I think we keep it close because of Seattles injury filled offense.

  37. Andrew 1 Says:

like Ive said before, if we play with the same intensity that the rams played with imo we have a real shot at winning this game. the only problem is, the last game we played in we sorely lacked any kind of intensity. it almost seemed like we were just going through the motions. however… this is a new week, new game, and hopefully something has got a fire light under these guys asses.

  38. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    KARMA.

    You people deserve it.

And since you want the Bucs to lose? Karma will help them win.

    Sorry about your #@%draft*&@ luck.

  39. MadMax Says:

@pewterpirate, I see you that suffer (severely) from cranial rectosis. Word of advice…..before calling others “stupid” identify and correct your own stupidity…such as using “except” when the word is “accept” and using “they’re” when the proper word is “their”. And “there” you go. Maybe go back to school….or maybe its true “you just cant fix stupid”…..smdfh!!

  40. MadMax Says:

    Correction “I see that you”…..oops, was in a hurry….
