Bill Cowher: Josh Freeman Took Down Bucs

November 3rd, 2013

This morning while making an appearance on the highly underrated “That Other Pregame Show,” seen exclusively on the CBS Sports Network, Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Cowher, spoke to popular sports radio and television personality Adam Schein and former Raiders executive Amy Trask. Cowher had harsh words for former Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman, ranking the signal-caller one of the top busts in the NFL.

  1. Mr. Patrick Says:

Agree 100% that Josh has been a HUGE part of the Buc’s fall as he really is a bust on and off of the field. However, there’s lots of blame to go around

  2. Couch Fan Says:

Agreed. To say he took us down by himself is a little much but no doubt Freeman was part of the problem and has been for a long time.

Whelp, time for the Freeminates to get all stirred up lol.

It was funny reading about how Leslie Frazier said yesterday “that Ponder gave the Vikes the best chance to win.” Very familiar words to hear.

Schiano, if anything, was right about one thing and that was getting rid of Free Free.

Cowher we need you! Come be our coach next year lol.

  4. NY Buc Says:

There’s plenty of blame to be put on Schiano this season, but gotta give the guy credit for helping to rid the Bucs of Josh. There are plenty more problems on the Bucs than just Freeman, but at least the next HC won’t be handcuffed with a QB who for whatever reason can’t seem to consistently play up to his talent level.

  5. The_Buc_Realist Says:

Most were ready to move on from JFro-6pak. it was not JFro-6pak that took down the Bucs but the decision to keep him around. The pop-star has made major blunders but this easily makes his top 3.

  6. Chris Says:

To think mark dominik almost extended this fool.

  7. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Wonder if Bill Cowher is preparing smooth waters in preparation of a return to coaching.

  8. Capt. Tim Says:

Hey Chin- nobody gives a Sh*t about Freeman! He’s been gone for 2 months!

The important questions are- what are you doing for next 5 years? Do you like warm weather? Rum drinks? Beaches and Bikinis?

We need you buddy! And you can draft your QB next draft! You got 8 Probowlers, and best DT and WLB in league.

Plus the best defender of our generation!

Bill Cowher, come on Down! It’s your turn to play ” lead the Bucs to the SuperBowl!!

That’s a show I’d love to see at Tampa Stadium!!

  9. Joe Says:

To think mark dominik almost extended this fool.

    When was that? Do tell.

  10. oviedobucsfan Says:

Bill Cowher as our new HC. Christmas in November.

  11. Bobby Says:

If Dominik was going to extend Freeman he would have been extended. Joe, you should start a blog called “Fans Say The Stupidest Things” and just let some of these guys pour their hearts out.

Glazer triplets need to send a nicely equipped Gulfstream to entice Mr. Cowher to coach this team. I get all the people preaching Lovie but I am not sold he can pick an offensive coordinator.

I was a freeman supporter and he no doubt brought most of this on himself on and off the field. That being said, the coach and organization handling of the freeman situation and the other messes are down right embarrassing. Grow a pair Glazer boys! Do the right thing!

  13. Chris Says:

Schiano is still 0-4 with his hand picked QB. This is all on Schiano at this point.

Anyone who wants Cowher for our coach is a fool. The game has changed ten fold since he’s been in command of a team. And he won ONE superbowl in FIFTEEN years. I want someone who will come in here and be successful right away i.e. Andy Reid in KC. If Cowher comes in here he will need to change the culture AGAIN. I want a football genius in Tampa who won’t take over control of all aspects which was our problem with Gruden. Great coach but terrible talent evaluater. We have the pieces to be a playoff team now we just need competent coaching in today’s NFL.

I want someone who will come in here and be successful right away”

That is the exception to the the rule my friend.

Andy Reid and Gruden are the exception.

    Who do you propose?

  16. []_[]Buc Says:

And you act as if Cowher has been away from the game? Jajaja

Did he forget how to coach as an analyst?

Oh and atleast Cowher has a SUPERBOWL, Andy didn’t have one when KC hired him.

There’s also the Harbaughs. Pagano in Indy as well. I want Lovie Smith, say what you want but the guy put winners out on the field. He comes from the Dungy/Kiffen coaching pedigree. We will be a top three defense with him at helm and he will maximize our 4-3 scheme. I think with the right coaching staff he will make us champions. We might not have the qb to take us there but he went to a superbowl with Grossman. With the defense paying at their fullest potential are offense doesn’t have to do too much. But even with that said we have a STACKED roster on offense. With a good OC and GM/coaching staff our team will dominate.

  18. Captain Stagger Says:

I like Cowher about as much as I like Lovie. I wouldn’t be pissed, but Bevell, Roman, or Zimmer would all be better options.

  19. []_[]Buc Says:

    Pagano?

Lol without Luck he wins nothing

You want the “exception” to the rule.

We all do. It’s not that easy to come by. For every name you mention there are a ton more than did it through time.

  20. Chris Says:

    Chris,

A 3rd round pick is not considered his hand picked qb.
