When Will It End?

October 25th, 2013

Joe has gone on record he has no desire to see Bucs commander Greg Schiano forced to walk the plank any time soon. What would be the goal for doing such a thing? So Dave Wannstedt can come in and maybe win three or four meaningless, worthless games and screw up a good draft slot? Oh, great. Buh, bye Jake Matthews, goodbye Jadeveon Clowney, see-yah Johnny Football.

If the Bucs are going to stink, then they may as well stink real good so they can land a top draft pick.

Many fans just want to see the statue toppled, no matter the consequences. They are out for blood.

Given how rotten the Bucs have been playing for three full months of NFL play, one has to wonder if Team Glazer will be motivated or forced in some way to let Schiano go before December. Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com tried to solve this riddle.

Does Schiano even make it through Friday? I don’t know. The only people who do are the Glazer family that owns the team, and they’re not talking. But the Glazers don’t like getting embarrassed, and this game was on national television.

My guess is the Glazers don’t want to fire Schiano because he’s the guy they brought in to clean up Raheem Morris’ mess. Schiano has righted the ship off the field by getting rid of problem players, but the results on the field can’t be sitting well with the ownership.

“I visit with our owners all the time,” Schiano said when asked if he knew where he stood with the Glazers. “There are open lines of communication. We’re all just trying to get better and do the things that make the organization better.”

Joe could easily see Schiano finishing the season. Right now it is all about finding a coach and the 2014 draft. Canning Schiano in the middle of the season sends a poor message to prospective coaching candidates that Team Glazer didn’t support Schiano in tough times, so why would said candidate believe Team Glazer wouldn’t support them if things went sour?

If the losing under Schiano continues, then it’s not the wort thing. Winning a handful of worthless games and falling out of the top three in the draft would be a regrettable loss.

Still no mention of the Teflon Dom

  2. lightningbuc Says:

Sorry Joe. He needs to go NOW! Not everyone gets to go to the Bucs games for free via media credentials. Some people have paid money for tickets and expect to see an entertaining, competitive team at a minimum, also with the assumption the team will win a few game here and there. The Glazers have to do something, or they risk losing an already shrinking fan base.

  3. BucfaninMi Says:

i dont like the draft talk. win as much as you can, now! this franchise is in last all time winning PCT. this kind of crap doesnt help! stop the embarrassment please. make Wanny the interim coach and get Rob Ryan next year!!

probably, but would it be worse than going 0-16? I dont think so.

    Waiting…..Waiting….Waiting…..

This is proof that the NFL needs a draft lottery. The NBA started it to stop teams from tanking games to try for the top pick and this is what this team is doing now.

  7. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Looking at our games down the stretch, I see us only winning 1-2 games even with a new coach. Should still be able to nab Johnny Football.

  8. J.A. Says:

I don’t get the 3 or 4 meaningless win part. Where are they going to come from? Are you saying that Schiano is so bad that he will go 0-16 and anybody, and I mean anybody else could get 3-4 wins in the last nine games? I say dump him now and the rest of the regime at year’s end. The lame duck coaches won’t try anyway so we will probably remain winless. I’d rather lose without having to listen to Schiano for the rest of the year. He makes my stomach crawl.

  9. THE WIZZARD Says:

I SEE SOME OF THE PEOPLE GOT THE BAGS AT THE FRONT GATE, DID THEY FIND MY TICKETS I LEFT ON A CAR IN THE PARKING LOT TOO, HOPE SO …. I SAID THE BUC’S WOULD WIN TWO GAMES I AM RETRACKING THAT,,, THEY WILL NOT WIN ONE GAME, SORRY MY BAG…0 AND 16 FOR THE BUC’S , AND THE COACH WILL BE FIRED, SO RIDE THE SHIP TILL IT HITS LAND AND THEN MAKE HIM WALK THE PLANK SO THE SHARK WON’T GET SICK ON THE TASTE OF STINK …….

  10. Jason Says:

You keep saying other coaches will question the Glazers before accepting a position??/ Why? Did Andy Reid question the chiefs when he took the job after they fired Haley, let Crennel take over only to fire him halfway through?? NO HE SURE DIDN’T. EVERY COACH understands the job requirements. The only reason you want to keep Schiano is for draft position and as a fan, player, or owner that is a terrible plan. I have no respect for someone that wants to tank the season Joe. We need to see what this team has if Schiano isn’t here not let him drive this team into the ground. If they perform better then we know that he had something to do with it. If the schemes change we know he was holding the team down. If things don’t change much then we know that the next owner and possibly the GM have a lot of things to fix.

To me the bad part is the commentators were laughing the fans were laughing and the panthers were laughing and I wasn’t all I was thinking that I didn’t want anyone else to get hurt

  12. dee Says:

I agree with bucfaninmi win all the games u can, noboby wants to be a loser.

  13. Luther Says:

I’d rather go 0-16 than go 4-12 or 3-13…I like the scorched earth approach. If you are going to be bad…be really bad and get something for it. We need impact players in the draft and the only way to do that is stink up the joint.

  14. Jrock Says:

How do you think the Bucs win a few games with an interim head coach? How is that even a reality to you?

You know what the reality of keeping Schiano is? Having another wasted offseason, searching for a HC for a months. Not having enough time during the offseason for that HC to find coordinators and position coaches that will be replaced, not having enough time to draw up and install their system.

All that is wasted time the longer we keep Schiano here

  15. 1neb Says:

What I went and watched last night was f&%king horrible . They were Chamberlain high school plays . I’ve watched a lot of football in my life and what I seen last night at that stadium was so embarrassing as a fan . last night was the first time I ever left a game in the third quarter but it was that bad and its worse than the rah show because he didn’t have anywhere near all this talent that we have . Its time for shegottogo aka schiano .

  16. patrickbucs Says:

Can we just fire him already? The vast majority of fans want this guy gone. It doesn’t make any sense keeping this dude around any longer. The media and his own players cannot and will not defend him.

  17. Espo Says:

It’s refreshing to read a few fans say they want us to win as many games as possible regardless of draft position. To often lately I’ve heard people say they want an 0-16 team with the first draft pick.

  18. chickster Says:

winning a game in seattle wont happen and I do not see a win oh the schedule

  19. chickster Says:

Besides the glazers wont fire this guy until the end of the season but I would like to see them win one and the should of won at least 3 already and all this running up the middle and the dump passes wont do it

  20. chickster Says:

I never could of thought this season would be this way I was talking trash to all my football friends in the off season and now I have to turn my phone off during the games

Lol. You realize this is the Bucs were talking about right? Trying to predict the season is like predicting where the next tornado will form.

Will trade one 1st round draft pick for a NFL caliber coach.

  23. Malevolent Creation Says:

Every now and then I like to go into my garage and smash my foot with a hammer. That’s kinda how I feel watching Shiaaaano coach football.

  24. Ian P. Says:

This team is so bad and the rest of the schedule is so hard, that I can’t see anyone coaching this team to 3 wins.
MAYBE they get a win against the Rams or Lions, but we all thought that about the Jets and Cards.

Although IMO they should let Schiano finish the season because of the message it sends to the next coach, and I believe that’s worth something.

  25. bigpoppabuc Says:

This is becoming a tug of war between schiano and the media/fans…the players are the red ribbon tied in the middle.

  26. Aubpierce Says:

Tampa would still be 0-7 even if Vince,Tom,or Chuck was their coach.Jackson has dropped more passes then Rice dropped in his career.Very little healthy talent on this team. That being said, fire Schiano for peace of mind.

  27. bucsdeluge Says:

I tell you what. If they are going to do it, I’m kinda hoping they’ll go after Rob Ryan. I think he’s itching for a chance to be a head coach and would be willing to come in and clean this mess up. I also think he is well respected by players, not to mention we would steal him from our division nemesis the Saints. He’s also a pretty good defensive coordinator.

  28. Long Live Schiano!! Says:

You guys are missing the boat. You need to get on board the Jadaveon Clowney Project (JCP). Our season is without a blemish. We are really having fun watching these games.

I laughed so hard last night, I thought I would bust a gut. I even laughed at the comic antics of Cam Newton. Now that is one funny guy.

Remember, in the stock market, you can make a lot of money shorting stocks. You can even go on chat lines and ridicule their products, CEO and earnings reports.

We’re simply shorting the Bucs, and laughing all the way to the 2014 draft.

Now seriously, it is simply imperative that we keep this front office intact for the JCP to roll on.

If you need a good laugh read, “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight” by Jimmy Breslin.

  29. Jordan Says:

Joe’s hope for tanking the season is erroneously predicated on the belief that “casual” fans are similar to “diehard” fans. Remember that not all Bucs fans watch the draft, let alone even know who we drafted in 2013. There exists a large group of fans that simply just tune in for the game each Sunday. Going 0-16 is devastating for fans of this type.

  30. Jason Says:

not even diehard fans want bucs to tank the season!!

  31. trubucfan22 Says:

Any potential coach that has the fear of getting canned because he is doing a horrendous coaching job, is not a coach the bucs need anyways. fire shitano, id rather lose a scrub coach candidate than all of the players and fans of this team.

  32. stratobuc Says:

The diehard fans are the ones who would never want their team to tank the season. That is a LOSER’S mentality, and I always hate reading this. Let’s just hope the coach and GM will be gone and soon, and then the real rebuilding can begin. Go Bucs!

  33. Nic Says:

Talking about the draft right now is absolutely GARBAGE. We are not even halfway through the season!! Make the change now and be as competitive as possible. And “Goodbye Johhny Football”? We had better not and I mean BETTER NOT draft him. If you think josh freeman had commitment issues at the pro level, you think this guy will do any better? Garbage.
