Revis Not Surprised By Bucs’ Slump?

October 11th, 2013

“We’re itchin’ for a win. And we’re gonna get it. We’re gonna get it. We’re gonna get it this Sunday. We feel very confident in our game plan. And it’ll get the ball rolling for us. But this is what happens. This is what happens when you get some of the acquisitions from the offseason. You know you get some key players to help the team out. I know all the fans they want to see excitement right off the jump. And I’m sure, look, as much as we want to be 4-0, I’m sure the fans want us to be 4-0, as well, too. But that’s not the case, we’re 0-4. So they just need to keep on supporting and we’ll turn things around.” — Darrelle Revis on the Buccaneers Radio Network

Maybe it was the frustration in Darrelle Revis talking when he uttered the above quote last night?

Perhaps he just meant it takes time for new players to fit in, specifically three new starters in the secondary? Is he talking about Mike Glennon? Perhaps Revis and key Bucs staff members expected the team to struggle out of the gate with so many key players returning from injury?

Joe found the “this-is-what-happens” take Revis was odd. Hopefully, No. 24 is on to something, and the Bucs are about to break out.

I understand what Revis is saying. It takes time for a team of new players to gel. We all saw what happened to the Philly dream team. Unfortunately we also saw what happened to Andy Reid as a result. When you losing nobody wants to hear a voice of reason. And some don’t want to hear it from someone who makes 1mil every Sunday whether we win or lose. Nobody is going to be satisfied until we win. So go win!

It is what happens…..but better play calling can also “positively” affect what happens instead of “negatively” affecting it. Its on tape for everyone to see….some of them were bold calls, but they just didnt work….”thats what happens”.

Fix some of the boneheaded calls please 😉

Joebucsfan.com- Taking things out of context and twisting peoples words since 2008.

Really? This is the full quote from Revis. Would you prefer Joe not share it?–Joe

  4. D-Rome Says:

I do not accept this argument by Revis. Every season there are new acquisitions! 0-4 is an unacceptable start.

    FIRE SCHIANO!!!

  5. Cannon Says:

Hopefully we can start winning some of these close games.

The defense is strong enough to carry the team… We just need something out of our offense.

  6. Architek Says:

    @Splengo,
I agree, gelling is critical for a team with new players and I also like Revis attitude. However, the biggest complaint is the lack of production from the offense. The defense has been a pleasant surprise and STs have been solid.

If the Bucs were 0-4 from just catching bad breaks and misfortune then fine but the play-calling (Sullivan/Schiano), lack of adjustments (Schiano), and Freeman (pun intended).

I still love the Bucs and believe the season will get better with Glennon and the team believing in one another. I am just not sold on Schiano as a leader and football guy.

  7. Mr. Patrick Says:

Revis probably just knew how weak the Bucs were at the QB position

All I know is it looks like we are getting outcoached every week.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

I fully accept this argument by Revis. Keep Schiano!

    Joe,

its not the quote but how you Interpret it.

“Maybe it was the frustration in Darrelle Revis talking when he uttered the above quote last night?”

Someone who hadn’t listened to the whole interview might read that and think he was makling excuses.

I listended to that interview and I didnt get any frustration from Revis. I was impressed with how positive he was even with te struggles of the team.

Instead of feigning confusion about what he meant take it for what it is…. He meant exactly what he said. They would rather be 4-0 but s**t happens and they’re not but he still believes they have a good team.

You took a positive outlook and statement from Revis and made it sound like something it wasn’t.

So first you wrote Joe took the quote of context and claimed that’s been happening here since 2008. Now you say it wasn’t the quote but Joe’s interpretation. Make up your mind! Joe’s entitled to his own interpretation, as you are. And Joe left much of the interpretation here for readers to reach their own conclusions. There’s no legitimacy to your hate. Joe also had the benefit of listening to the Revis quote typed up here about 10 times, and Joe had an unbiased friend listen to it as well. Joe stands behind the post here. –Joe

All of these reasons are valid, but no one mentions the real reason the bucs are 0-4…

Team DISCIPLINE! Penalties are killing us and cost us 2 games directly.

    ——————————

True but the penalties are decreasing the last 2 games so it looks like that problem is sorting itself out. Hopefully.

    D-Money,

Your right, Shiit happens is exactly what he meant lol.

  14. Christopher Says:

Joe, D-Money was saying that you definitely put a *spin* on Revis’ comments, & a borderline negative spin on it at that (per the infamous Trey Wingo/Spike Lee incident, you KNOW this can tend to be true)…I simply read it as “Fans had big expectations because of the offseason acquisitions”. Read what Revis says right after the “this is what happens” line—he talks about fan expectations.

News flash. Joe gives his opinion, aka spin, on everything. In this case, Joe phrased it in the form of questions. Again, Joe had the benefit of hearing the audio 10 times or so, and the benefit of talking to Revis in person many times and having a good sense of his speech. –Joe

  15. chickster Says:

This will change his mind when stork boy throws 3 picks sunday and 1 for a td and fumbles twice this kid is not very strong with nor run threat and this coach was trying to get him from way back that should tell you what you need to know . Its sad because this team is close and the coach started this in the off season he started this drama and I have lost all respect for this guy but the fans will be the ones to suffer when you lose games like this team has he blames freeman they hade free throwing the ball at end of games to tightly covered receivers when they should of been running the ball , I have coach on many levels and you could see these games were set up to loose

  16. chickster Says:

Revis can say what he wants too he’s making enough money to take this for a little while but come season end he will be singing a different toon

  17. BUCSLEGENDS Says:
