“Mike Glennon Can’t Win The Game For Us”

October 12th, 2013

It seems Mike Glennon has only proven his value to Greg Schiano and Bucs coaches. Joe’s been looking around all week for an analyst who’s excited about Glennon and what he can do in the Bucs offense. Joe’s still looking.

Yesterday, former Bucs tight end and radio pre- and post-game host Anthony Becht emphasized on ESPN Radio South Jersey that the Bucs’ offensive line must find a way to open holes for Doug Martin to keep Glennon out of must-produce situations.

“He’s obviously a rookie, so you’re prone to mistakes. He played three quarters of mistake-free football [against Arizona], didn’t, you know, catch the world on fire. At the end of the game they decided to put the ball in his hands and have him win it, which I thought was a bad choice and he ended up throwing two interceptions,” Becht said.

“He’s a kid that can make all the throws. He’ll beat you down the field. We have some big-play receivers, Vincent Jackson being one of them … At the end of the day they’re going to try to want to run the ball. They’ve gotta get it going. Because if they don’t, they won’t have a shot, because, you know, Mike Glennon can’t win the game for us right now. He’s just not in that process in his career where he’s able to do that.”

This is discouraging to hear from Becht. And Becht went on to explain that the current struggles of the O-line could get worse as teams disrespect a rookie QB and dare Glennon to beat them.

Joe hopes the Bucs can snap out of their funk of four offensive touchdowns in four games. Joe would be stunned if the Bucs get away from pounding the football. Hopefully, this week it will be effective.

  1. Capt. Tim Says:

    No kidding.

    Teams have seen that he cannot move. Every 3rd and 4 or more, they are throwing the house at him.

    And he can’t buy time with his legs. Has no TE to throw to. No shallow route by the Slot( what slot?) . No chance to throw to Martin( can’t catch)

    Schiano will get this kid hurt. His “stick like”physique can’t take the beating he’s in store for!

    Keep Dan O loose

  2. jb Says:

    What are you sayin’ Capt. Tim? Schiano shouldn’t be coaching here? lol

  3. Walter Says:

    Well he IS just a 3rd round rookie QB, did anyone really expect him to jump into the starting lineup and set the world on fire?

  4. OB Says:

    Joe, it is funny that based on one game with little practice with the first team, everyone points to his inability to do anything. Almost no QB has done anything in these circumstances.

    I am not saying he is good, I am saying give him a chance, since we don’t have anything else. The worst that can happen is he starts winning and we lose our high draft choice or maybe he fails and we have a high draft choice all I know is he more accurate than the last guy.

    If we are not scoring 30+ points a game with this team, we need help at a lot of places including coaching. So time will tell.

    On the MRSA note, who is playing and who is not?

  5. PRBucFan Says:

    “This is discouraging to hear from Becht.”

    Not really.

    Unless his opinion is the end all, be all..

    Actually sound like he is giving the kid some props and that at this point in his career with 1 game under his belt, “He’s just not in that process in his career where he’s able to do that.”.

    *GASP Who whoulda thunk it? Lol

    Still a better option than Free Free, than again anyone would have been.

  6. Walter Says:

    lol still bashing Freeman, daaaaaaaaaamn. We’ve got some spurned ex-girlfriends in these comment threads.

  7. SteveK Says:

    Walter,

    You’re damn right Freewee still gets mentioned on here. He was cut two weeks ago, it is still fresh. And, he has single handedly set this franchise back 5 years with his lack of giving a shit.

  8. PRBucFan Says:

    No Walter that’s your role.

    Only someone who is still wallowing on Free Free’s failure here has to absolutely react and come to his rescue anytime anyone rights anything even remotely suggestive of that truth.

    Trying to apply your label to others doesn’t change the reality that it is still yours 😉

    Just a few weeks ago many were saying the Browns were quitting, packing it in, giving up because they traded away Trent Richardson but yet they won their next game and another since then…

    Football is a game after all and many unforeseeable things occur… That is what makes the sport so great… At least the Bucs are TRYING to improve rather than remaining status quo and mediocre!

  11. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    lol whatever you say man, I’m not the one constantly crying about an ex-Buccaneer.

    Lets get this straight, It’s okay to bash Freeman here all one wants, but NOT okay to bash Schiano for having anything remotely to do with this 0-4 team?

    Okay?????

  13. Walter Says:

    @Stevek

    haha two weeks and you still wanna talk about it?? Talk about someone thats actually on the roster, Freeman can’t be used as an excuse to cover up the teams failures anymore. From here on out, it’s all about #8.

  14. Chris Says:

    Shhh, SteveK, he’s a franchise qb. That was up and down in college and, big suprise , up and down in the pros. The same guys who bash Glennon, call him names, after one game, staunchly defend the sloppy, don’t give a crap, attitude of Freeman.

  15. PRBucFan Says:

    Waaa Waaa?

  16. Walter Says:

    @jb

    All these people talk about is Freeman

  17. PRBucFan Says:

    “Freeman can’t be used as an excuse to cover up the teams failures anymore. From here on out, it’s all about #8.”

    Spoken like a true scorned lover, ahahaha

  18. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    Sounds about right. You might need to add a little bit of “Winnin’ with Glennon” in there.

  19. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    So what you’re saying is, Freeman CAN still be blamed even though he’s not on the roster? lol what a troll

  20. john Says:

    Hey Dom>>>after 5 drafts should the o-line look better then what it does???

  21. Couch Fan Says:

    Walter is actually right for once PR. Freeman is one of 30 Bucs starting QB who has failed to take us to the post season. Nothing special about him… time to let him go and fade into obscurity.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________
    A troll…Funny, that’s the same thing I called PRBucFan yesterday when he started his crap.
    Guy evidently is here for nothing but attention. Freaking Pathetic!

  23. Chris Says:

    And yeah, the qb is the most important position . Without one, which we may be, we are a mediocre team. Your guy screwed the pooch. We should have known, especially with his comments about his contract in the off season. ” Well, umm, if the Bucs give me an extension, that’s good, if not ummm, guess I’ll go somewhere else”. If no one wants me, I’m ok with that too.

  24. PRBucFan Says:

    Nah, I don’t care If he ends up being the guy honestly, and I don’t expect him to light the world on fire either. I’m just happy we finally moved on from the wrong one.

    Now we can evaluate whether he is the guy over the rest of the season (just like with Schiano) and either keep at it with him next season or go out and continue the search for the right guy.

    A process we would STILL not be doing with Free here.

    Just because the team got rid of the wrong answer doesn’t mean they have found the right answer yet, don’t get that confused.

    I’ll take rookie playing like a rookie over a 5 year vet playing like a rookie anyday 😉

  25. PRBucFan Says:

    As long as the scorned lovers continue to make the insinuation that we have to be super bowl contenders just because we got rid of your man, I’m going to continue to point out that we were never going anywhere with him to begin with anyways 😉

    I’ll be happy to be labeled a troll by your crowd any day.

    *Check that off

  26. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    “A process we would STILL not be doing with Free here.

    Just because the team got rid of the wrong answer doesn’t mean they have found the right answer yet, don’t get that confused.”
    “““““““““““““““““““““““““““““

    Exactly, Free is gone, so move on. I understand if you need to vent some frustrations over this season, but damn man, does the dude have to die before you finally stop talking about him?? There’s still 12 games left, plenty of time to talk about the positives that Mike Glennon brings to the table.

    @Couch Fan

    Exactly, Freeman failed here, instead of being bitter about it, it’s time to look ahead to the future.

  27. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    “As long as the scorned lovers continue to make the insinuation that we have to be super bowl contenders just because we got rid of your man, I’m going to continue to point out that we were never going anywhere with him to begin with anyways ;)”

    ——————————————————————–

    ???????????????????????????? Who said we were superbowl contenders, with or without Freeman? We were never contending for a Superbowl this year, all we had were playoff aspirations that imploded right out of the gates.

  28. PRBucFan Says:

    “There’s still 12 games left, plenty of time to talk about the positives that Mike Glennon brings to the table.”

    If that were what was going on maybe your point would be valid,
    but as long as the still bitter Freemanites continue to make the insinuation that we have to be super bowl contenders and the Glennon must be the next big thing just because we got rid of your man, I’m going to continue to point out that we were never going anywhere with him to begin with.

    It’s not a coincidence that those most critical of Glennon were those that were least critical of Freeman.

  29. Couch Fan Says:

    it’s time to look ahead to the future.

    —————————————-

    Such as Winnin with Glennon!!

    Yea I know you mock me for saying that but if it turns out to be true, I get the last laugh!! Lol GO BUCS!!

  30. PRBucFan Says:

    It’s called Facetiousness Walter

    EXACTLY thank you, we were never going anywhere WITH HIM to begin with!

    So, and maybe not so much you, but definitely other bitter buddies, need to stop acting like /INSINUATING that unless Glennon lights the world on fire our organization is a horrible failure lol.

  31. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    I’m not trying to mock anyone anymore, I want Glennon to win too. Of course, I’m still a bit skeptical, but he still has my support, I’m hoping in another couple weeks he’ll start to get on a roll, help us pick up a few wins, maybe save Schiano’s job.

  32. PRBucFan Says:

    @Couch

    I’m never going to stop calling out their bitter insinuations, I’ll always point out that Free Free wasn’t getting us anywhere to begin with.

  33. oviedobucsfan Says:

    One big thing I took away from the last game v.s. Cards was time of posession. For the first time this season our Offense was on the field longer than the defense. Yes we lost another close on but I still think we made progress and I saw players play with heart. A couple of decisions made were bad, a couple of play calls that made no sense. I think this team is getting more on track and they have some winnable games on the remaining schedule. Looking forward to see what Schiano, Sully and Glennon can do. GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    I never expected Glennon to light the world on fire, I was the one in here telling everyone else to calm down and not to get their hopes up. I know the situation we’re in, I know that the season is a wash, I know that this may not be a “rebuilding” season, but it is definitely a “tune-up” season. Schiano will use the rest of this season to decide who stays, who gets released in the offseason, and depending on Glennon’s performance, which direction we go in terms of how we draft and what pieces we may add in Free Agency.

  35. PRBucFan Says:

    I hear ya and we can agree there, that’s why I said not necessarily you but definitely others. The insinuations get tiring.

    Schiano may not be the guy either, but I want to at least give him the rest of the season to allow him to actually prove he’s not the guy. Not just accept the noose that the media has placed around his neck and go along with it.

  36. Bobby Says:

    Only Glennon dictates his performance and his future..not the pundits, not the fans, not even the coaches. I for one am looking forward to seeing what the kid has.

  37. Architek Says:

    I don’t know what it is but I really like this kid.

  38. Walter Says:

    @Architek

    Everybody loves the backup QB, especially Bucs fans. It’s pretty much our teams history to root for the backup.

  39. Buc1987 Says:

    “Everybody loves the backup QB”

    Walter ….nobody loves Danny O. Glennon is not the backup anymore. The kid did look sharp before halftime.

    Actually, I have seen several “keep Dano loose” and “warmed up” comments, so I think you are mistaken.

    And if Glennon throws 3-4 picks in a game, fans will be screaming for Dano and blaming Dom for releasing Freeman within hours.

  41. Capt. Tim Says:

    Lmao!
    Watch how fast the Glennon goons are bailing out on him.
    Prbucfan- you are a liar of biblical proportions!!
    You, and your lil band of clueless Zombies- proclaimed Glennon the savior of the franchise! Couch said he would win out!!
    You said that If we started Glennon, we would make the playoffs!!

    How dare you worthless asses try to deny your campaigning for Glennon , now that everyone is telling you he sucks. I told you that before the season started!!! I warned you how stupid you would end up looking, but all of you chose to proclaim Beaker to be the Greatest QB since Peyton Manning!!

    Now, everyone of you has bailed on him” I didn’t think he was any good- just better than Freeman!”, ” I don’t expect much- he’s just a Rookie!

    Liars! And don’t have enough manhood to stick with your convictions, after just one game!! And still trying to somehow drag Freeman into it
    As I suspected. Gutless and trying to lie away the last 2 months of of your Glennon worship

    You five are disgusting. I would think you’ve lost all credibility here, if you had any

    After all those proclamations of Glennons greatness- you would think you would have stuck with him at least 3 starts. But not you guys.

    You are trying to distance yourself from him, after one loss!!
    Lmao

  42. Couch Fan Says:

    I see LiL timmy boy has started his drinking binge early today. Already saying things that aren’t true and then calling other’s liars….

    To funny.

    Winnin with Glennon!! GO BUCS!

  43. PRBucFan Says:

    Aww captain Timmy has his wittle feelings hurt?

    Shut the hell up with your dumb ass self.

    Oh wait, my bad, you’ve spoken so it must be true!!!!

    Lmao False

  44. PRBucFan Says:

    @Couch lol I know right?!?!

    He pulls shiite out of his ass and than tries to tell people it’s gold.

    Damn hypocrite ahahaha

    Lying ass

  45. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    I do recall you posting before saying that Glennon would take us to the playoffs and “unite the fan base.” Not trying to start anything, I do think you should own up to your claims though.

  46. PRBucFan Says:

    Never caught those words being typed here

  47. Walter Says:

    @PRBucFan

    Not by you, I don’t recall. But I know for fact Couch Fan said Glennon was going to lead us to the playoffs and “unite the fan base.” He was arguing with me when he made those claims, so I remember.

  48. PRBucFan Says:

    And I don’t recall anyone saying Glennon is not going end up being any good either.

    Saying your a dumb ass for saying he “sucks” after 1 start is not the same as saying that he is going to be our “savior”.

    Saying that it’s still too early to tell if he’s going to be the guy is not the same as quitting on Glennon either.

    I have ALWAYS and REPEATEDLY stated that I expect him to play like a rookie and that I EXPECT mistakes.

    Lol Damn delusional liar.

  49. PRBucFan Says:

    Oh I hear ya Walter

  50. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

    I remember the same thing Walter…, That being said and were we are as a team I for one am hoping he was right ! The kid is who we’ve got, so lets all (not sayin’ you’re not) BAN TOGETHER as fans and hope this young man has got the “IT” factor we need in our QB !!!!!!! GO BUCS !!!!!!!

  51. lightningbuc Says:

    Second Mate Tim is the self-appointed JBF equivalent of Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man”. Unfortunately, his regurgitation of the same thing day after day isn’t all that interesting.

  52. Couch Fan Says:

    I never denied saying that he would take us to the playoffs. I did say that… And im not ashamed of having hope for the guy. The part that is a lie is that i am “distancing” myself from Glennon.

    THAT is a lie.

    Oh, ok, that makes more sense. I wasn’t sure which part of Capt. Tim’s comment you were denying, but I see where you’re coming from now.

  55. Pete 422 Says:

    What are you guys 12 years old?

  56. SteveK Says:

    Ricky Bobby,

    Not a subscriber. Fans don’t buy tickects for this product, why would bloggers pay for the Bucs message boarding?

    Some of their articles are ok, but I stopped going over to that site when the Donald Penn misinformation storm came thru.

    ———————————————————————————–
    Schiano may not last the rest of the season if the losing continues. He has been given more talent than his predecessor and so far has managed to do less. I’m a season ticket holder and hope the Bucs can go on a winning streak and finish the season with a winning record.

  58. chickster Says:

    Buc fan is a moron wow

  59. john Says:

    I am worried that my 5-11 prediction is going to be to low. But I will stick with it. My other prediction is as long as Dom is the GM we will never go above 500. Its been 5 years with him at the helm. Dom as GM = below 500 ball.

  60. chickster Says:

    We will not win 5 games we will be lucky with 2

  61. chickster Says:

    did you see how nervous Dom looked in his last presser

  62. MadMax Says:

    Absolutely will be better than Gosh….did any of you see his 1st NFL game? Especially the 1st half? He just needs to put in the time and work.

  63. MadMax Says:

    Heh, no Dom fan here guys (and gals, chickster)….he better be nervous if he cares……Im worried he stopped giving a hoot!!!!!
