“I’ve Never Been 0-5”

October 13th, 2013

Darrelle Revis predicted a Bucs win today.

It didn’t happen.

The loss left the Bucs’ $1-million-per-game cornerback flummoxed. Revis has played in two AFC Championship games and he knows what a winning football team looks like. But Revis can’t pinpoint what’s wrong with the Bucs.

“I don’t even know what to tell you, man, I’ve never been 0-5 until now,” Revis told Joe. “Only thing I can say is we gotta to find a way, any way, anyhow. We just gotta find a way to win.

“We prepare just like any other team in this league every week, you know, to play and gameplan every week. There’s some things that we’re not doing on the field, you know, game-plan-wise that we got to execute on. So we just got to execute, from first quarter through fourth.”

Revis took responsibility for allowing a touchdown to DeSean Jackson early in the game. That’s two games in a row Revis has been left saying, “my bad” after getting burned.

Revis needs to tighten up. He went soft on his coverage looking for safety help and gave up a TD.

If he wants to convince the world that he’s 100 percent, then he should play like he’s 100 percent.

  2. Drew Says:

Revis… The problem is coaches not playing to players strengths.

  3. PRBucFan Says:

It does’t matter if Revis “took responsibility” or not.
He’s a man among men, he will never place blame on anybody regardless.

We all saw what happened, that was not on him.
His reaction also made that pretty obvious.

    Ronde made that pretty clear.

  4. PRBucFan Says:

The thing is he’s not “100%” lol

  5. Illuminati Says:

    @ Drew

Coaches coach. Players play. Revis gave up on that play.

  6. Mr. Patrick Says:

Sorry Mr. Revis, but it’s going to get worse before it gets any better.

  7. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

Revis needs to “Buc Up”…..try 0-26…Darrelle got beat…but he was one of many today….

  8. DCBUCSFAN Says:

Well this time next week you will be 0-6!

  9. dee Says:

Revis should be in man to man all day why in gods name is he playing zone ever.Fire the coach

  10. Chris Says:

Revis didn’t get beat today by Jackson. He was in zone and Barron missed his assignment.

  11. JonBuc Says:

Just another reason season “unlucky” 2013 sucks….The Bucs bought Revis at a “market high” and he’s no longer great, being misused or perhaps some of both.

  12. Illuminati Says:

    @ Chris

Where did you play corner? You never snapped out of zone to go man on an obvious scoring play?

Revis had that coverage and flat gave up. You can try to spin it any way you want, but Revis needs to make that play.

  13. Steve Says:

4 games have involved 0-5 vs 5-0 teams…..The Buc’s have been in 3 of them.
The one time they were the 5-0 team….the only time the 0-5 team won.
And of course this years team is 0-5.
    Pathetic legacy!

  14. joseph mamma Says:

Doesn’t matter how good one corner is when teams spread you out. That’s one of the reasons that we were the only team that wanted Revis.

  15. Free's A Boob Says:

I’d say Sherman and Peterson are dead on. Both way better than Revis.

  16. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Illuminati,

I guess you really don’t understand the way it works. The DC designs a play, and the corner just has to follow the design of the play. I know it’s hard to wrap your head around that, but it’s the way it is.

It’s hard to see how close Revis is to back when he always plays off coverage, and a ton of zone. We almost never put him on an island. We have possibly the best press corner in the history of the NFL, and he didn’t press one play today. Makes no sense.

  17. Just A Juggalo Says:

Darelle, it’s going to get a lot worse than 0-5, but just imagine what it will be like with Clowney playing opposite Clayborn?

The Jadaveon Clowney Project will be painful, but in the afterglow, they will have a new HC, GM and the best Buc defense in history. I think they might even be able to draft QB Aaron Murray with the 33rd overall pick.

Imagine sell out crowds at CITS Stadium and 35% of them dressed in clown gear, make up and those cute little red noses.

  18. Eric Says:

At this point that trade is looking shaky.

As we’re facing rebuilding the second rebuild.

  19. Tony Says:

I love that Desean Jackson called him out and then scored two TD’s on the Bucs. To think the Eagles were the 31st ranked defense, averaging almost 30 points a game. The Bucs helped them up that ranking. Martin is useless with Glennon. Averaged almost 100 ypg this year (90 last year) with Freeman, 56 ypg with the rookie.
