Bucs On The Cusp Of History

October 24th, 2013
"I have the worst record in Bucs history but I never lost seven straight home games."

“I have the worst record in Bucs history, but I never lost seven straight home games.”

Bucs fans, there is a good reason to watch tonight’s Stinking Panthers-Bucs game (what, you want to watch those !@#$’n% greaseball BlowSux?). Modern Bucs franchise history is afoot.

No, really. This comes from none other than the Custodian of Canton, the great eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune.

With a loss to the Stinking Panthers, the Bucs would, for the first time in 36 years, match a franchise mark that not even bumbling Leeman Bennett could accomplish.

With six consecutive home setbacks dating to last November, Tampa Bay could end the evening saddled with its first seven-game home losing streak since 1977.

Thirty-five seasons have passed since the 1977 club followed up the first win in Bucs history, a 33-14 victory at New Orleans, by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 17-7 in the season finale at Tampa Stadium.

At least when you are watching this game, you can tell your children’s children about it when they are sitting in your lap before the fireplace.

Look at the bright side. The losing should wane come January.

I’m really starting to question this organization’s commitment to winning!

  2. Morgan Says:

More negativity from JBF. You and Steve Deumig planning on wearing a paper bag over your heads at the game tonight?

  3. Splengo Says:

No way is Schiano going to let that happen. The weather is a changing and the times they are a changing. I feel an upset in the air. Bucs win 28-21!

  4. Bulldog Says:

    Splengo, Now THAT was funny.

  5. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

    @ Splengo

Finally….thanks for some optimism….I hope you’re right….this really hurts me….it takes me back to 76-77.
Being laughed at on Johnny Carson etc.
I think the players will play very, very hard tonight.

  6. Malevolent Creation Says:

@ Splengo Shiano isn’t good enough to prevent it. The dude doesn’t even make 1/2 time adjustments.

  7. M Child Says:

Lol @ Schiano won’t let it happen .. Just like how he didn’t let the first 6 get away

again with this phenomenon about halftime adjustments – what’s so special about 12 min halftimes? Teams make adjustments THROUGHOUT the game based on the opponent (and don’t wait for halftime).

  9. Captain Buc Says:

I feel sick. What should be a happy day for be a Buc fan. Is sure to be another seaquel to a on going nitemare. I can already feel the disappoint and anger I will feel while leaving ray jay tonight. What a waste of money thanks Schiano. You suck!!!!

  10. Adam L. Says:

November 11 is the anniversary of the last Buccaneers home win. We are closing in on one year.

  11. Captain Buc Says:

On the bright side going to the UofL USF game to see our future QB. Bridgewater will look good in Bucs jersey.

  12. Skelly Says:

I think we turn it around and get a win tonight also. I’ll say this though, if we get blown out and the boo’s are heard on a national broadcast. Team Glazer may jump in the mix and make a move….

  13. JonBuc Says:

There’s my man Leeman…sporting a gold chain no less. If you took Bennett’s coaching prowess and mixed them with Perkin’s people skills…you’d have soon to be 0-7 Greggy Shiartano.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Captain Buc…so your going to watch Louisville lose another game?

  15. joseph mamma Says:

Hey I know the man had his flaws and the team seemed to not be headed in the right direction but how can anyone in their right mind think we upgraded in coaching when we fired Jon Gruden and hired either of the last two clowns. Seriously?

  16. Buc1987 Says:

Skelly…I’ll be there tonight. Trust me I’ll have my boo out in full effect. The 3 guys next to me told me at the Philly game that they are making a banner that says Lovie for Head Coach. Not sure if I agree with them or not, and i hope they atleast wait until the 4th qrtr to raise it. I bringing a poster board that says, This Sucks! Of course I will wait to see if the Bucs are getting blown out or if they lose to raise it in the 4th. Perhaps the Glazers have binoculars…

  17. Splengo Says:

These are the times when you need a sense of humor. Peppermint makes cod liver oil go down easier. Gotta take our medicine. May as we’ll take it like men!

  18. Captain Buc Says:

Buc1987… No way Louisville will lose to USF. Then again I said that about Tampa vs Jets.

  19. MadMax Says:

@Buc1987, a better sign would be “Chirp, Chirp, Sheridan”

  20. Joe Says:

More negativity from JBF. You and Steve Deumig planning on wearing a paper bag over your heads at the game tonight?

If you want seashells and balloons in your Bucs coverage, please bookmark Buccaneers.com.

Only a simpleton or a 12-year old girl would complain that a writer is too negative about an 0-6 team which has lost 11 of the last 12.

    So, which one are you?

  21. D-Rome Says:

You guys make me laugh sometimes. 28-21 Bucs? Our #1 offensive player is not playing tonight and some of you guys somehow think we’re going to do better? The Bucs lead the NFL in penalties per game and penalty yards per game and somehow this is all going to miraculously change tonight? You think this is going to be the game where Glennon has 4 TD’s or the defense is going to have two pick 6 against Cam Newton?

I want some of what you’re drinking.

  22. Jo_mama Says:

Unlike Joe, I am not hoping for the bucs to lose tonight. He probably already has the stories written.

I feel they are going to win tonight.

Glennon’s Progression has been great so far.

    3 TD’s 25 yards rushing.

    And a buc win.

  23. Splengo Says:

    D-Rome,

Some of us are trying to make you laugh! Lol

  24. MadMax Says:

Sorry Jomama, but that D line will be shredding our O line…..other than Dotson, there wont be a number for Glennon to feel protected behind. Look for a lot of dinking and dunking, which he’s pretty good at.

We need special teams to come through for a bright spot….other than that (and Glennon short throw connections), Ive given up on everything else.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

BD wearing a paper bag over his head for tonight’s game? Not a chance, he’s not a Buc’s, not even close.

  26. ander Says:

its embarrassing hopefully bucs win tonight,

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    “he’s not a Buc’s fan*”

Damn I need more coffee I can’t blame that one on the vodka. It’s only 10 a.m.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Splengo…I knew you were being your usual sarcastic self with that prediction.

    TBBF…don’t buy his optimism.

  29. Splengo Says:

    Buc1987,

Haven’t heard your prediction yet! I did mean that. Go back and read my previous posts. I always pull for the Bucs. I know it’s counter-intuitive, because you’re right, I want Schiano run.

Nothing I have ever said or for that matter any of you have said makes us 0-6. Schiano doesn’t need my help to fail, he’s going a good job of that himself. It is what it is. But I will never wish my Bucs to fail.

Now you come out from under the porch long enough to make your prediction. Crickets!

  30. zam Says:

In fairness, most Bucs games at Raymond James Stadium haven’t been home games in quite a while.

  31. MadMax Says:

My prediction is season is over, we’re in a mess under this coach and gm….I’ll still pull for us to win tonight of course, but after being so friggin disappointed this year, I can actually say “I understand” if we lose tonight.

  32. Capt. Tim Says:

    Gonna bring a poster
” Hey Sheridan! I want my Coke!!”
Think I might bring a few tonight, if nothing pops up!

Hope there are still seats available!!
    Lol.
    Sad days

  33. Just A Juggalo Says:

Morgan said, “again with this phenomenon about halftime adjustments – what’s so special about 12 min halftimes? Teams make adjustments THROUGHOUT the game based on the opponent (and don’t wait for halftime).”

When Geno Smith was asked on the NFL Network how the Jets turned the game around against the Patriots and won. Geno simply said, ” We made some half time adjustments.”

    (JCP)

  34. LOLBUCS Says:

I am confident that Schiano will lose this game.
