No Holes For Predictable Bucs

September 30th, 2013

There was no parting of the red sea yesterday for Doug Martin. He ran hard, but he’s only human.

The sad thing is Joe (and surely loads of other Bucs fans) saw how terribly the run wasn’t working, largely because everyone and their brother knew it was coming.

Joe even saw the Bucs trot out fullbacks Spencer Larsen and Erik Lorig together, in power sets with one lined up as a tight end. You might as well put the play call up on the JumboTron. The Bucs set out to run the ball even when the opposition knew it was coming, and they failed over and over and over again.

Martin averaged less than two yards a carry.

This was just bad coaching. It wasn’t your offensive line’s day. They were bad. So adjust. There were no adjustments, just stubbornness.

If Mike Glennon really gave the Bucs a better chance to win than Josh Freeman, then somebody should have opened up the offense at halftime. Mix in some more swing passes and other basic stuff.

Anyone that has Martin on their fantasy teams should drop him, it’s only going to be more of the same from here on out. Teams are not even thinking about Mike Glennon. Lol

  2. Capt. Tim Says:

I disagree. There are plenty of holes.
We have a hole at QB. We have a hole at TE. We have a hole at Slot receiver.
We have a hole in our offensive scheme.

We have a huge hole at head coach. And a hole at GM

How long is “rebuild for a lasting contender” gonna last?????

Bennett wanted out so bad , he took less money with Seattle , didn’t even want a counter offer..that should tell you something… Freeman has every right to be mad … The way Schiano is treating people is bush league… The whole league knows it… As soon as the untrue rumours about josh are realized there will be a bunch of tes wanting him …. Schiano has destroyed this team and got rid of a lot of talent … I feel bad for VJ and Revis … Sort of . 🙂

    Well said Capt. Tim

since Gruden left, they has been zero offense with the Bucs. I love having a defensive head coach.

It seems that Defensive HCs always fiddle with the offensive guys (lovie, dungy, Cowher, rex, now Tomlin) and screw things up. Dungy would of never won a SB on his way if he didn’t have Peyton Manning tell run that offense and keep him out as John Fox is now learning to do unlike in Carolina.

Offensive HCs tend to let their DCs actually coach the defense and try not interfere too much. The Harbaughs, Chucky, Pete Caroll just off the top of my head. All good defenses or better.

I don’t know it’s just something I’ve picked up over the years. The Bucs offense needs another big change at OC to make the QB switch worth it. I don’t have patience for Sully’s three year plan. I bet the Bears are rejoicing that didn’t hire him or Cutler would be out already.

Can somebody call Vince young, Troy smith, Dennis Dixon, hell te bow. We need a qb in Tampa. Idk if anyone has noticed either but we do not have a real fullback lorig was converted from de. We should’ve picked up Conner and walker this offseason. I guarantee you this would’ve been an entirely different team. We need something to void those holes. A qb without a tight end in this league will not succeed if you go back to the seasons where freeman did produce he had k. Wub. That was his security blanket. Now I can’t name any tight end on our team that is a threat. Then if you go back to the times our run game was consistent we had graham. Little things like that is why our offense sucks, and lastly the coaching is horrific our kicker sucks. We need help on offense and maybe a spark in the return game. The next coach needs to fix this because schiano is hard headed and a hard head makes for a fired ass in this league.

Dominik is out of here to I don’t see him back in Tampa unless there is a serious change in the season.

  9. tone850 Says:

I wanted Carson Palmer to come to the Bucs so bad in the offseason. Pisses me off to know that he wanted TB too and came so close to making it happen. Dominik should of just told him, let Freeman implode and the job will be yours.

    @tone850

while i agree with most of your points about the head coaching hire situation, i need to point out that your facts are slightly inaccurate.

Carroll is a defensive coach and i’m not sure which Harbaugh you’re talking about, but John was a special teams coach (which i think is even smarter than just hiring an offensive coach).

You let the OC handle the offense, the DC handle the defense and have the HC handle the special teams…(read: bringing together of the offense and defense).

I might’ve been one of the few people that actually wanted them to hire Bisaccia.

but what do i know. i’m just a die hard fan that sits beind a computer screen all day managing servers. smh.

    OR…
they were just trying to put it on film
All week leading up to this,
they professed that the timing of the change BEFORE the Bye
    was to study the film,
adjust and work on things that they saw based upon his Cardinals’ game experience.
    OR…
Maybe i am giving them too much credit

  12. Celly Says:

    @Buc Neckid-

“You play to win the game!” – Herm Edwards

you can put things on film if you want, but you still play to win the game. you know what would’ve looked really good on film? a win.

  13. Celly Says:

But I do agree that if they decided that they were going to make a change, the week before the BYE is the week to do it. Better to go into the film room w/ footage of your new QB in live action vs just trying to guess and wonder what he’ll do.
