Mobility Not In The Cards

September 27th, 2013

Veteran sportscaster Dave Wirth, of WTSP-TV, Ch. 10, weighs in with a preview of Sunday’s Cards-Bucs game. Wirth includes a worthwhile take on Mike Glennon’s skill set versus other recent successful rookies and young QBs.

Glennon cant move??? Just pop in a cassette, put him in a Vote for Pedro tshirt…. then try and tell me that he cant move.. please.

dude’s got the Eye of the Liger!

    cmon Glennon!

  2. RBellBuc Says:

Wow, They are all hell bent on smearing Freeman it’s almost sickening. There has been no real shred of evidence that shows that Freeman has off the field issues. The is a perfect example of how the media can literally destroy a persons private credibility. I mean if I were neutral and heard how Wirth described Freeman, I would picture him on the same scale as Rae Carruth or Aaron Hernandez. Hell I even think Hernandez gets more love than Freeman at this point. Character assassination without any proof. Instead of just letting Freeman move on, we the people of Tampa Bay must know this first. Josh Freeman is an awful person for a 25 year old. (sarcasm)

  3. RastaMon Says:

WTF…….that was not worth the bandwidth !!!

  4. Cody Says:

Mike is a smart kid with a laser for an arm (good combo); I’d be shocked if he doesn’t perform well for us…Imo, accuracy is the most important factor in playing QB at the pro level and Glennon has Freeman beat in that dept already…I’d literally hold my breath when Freeman threw to a receiver over the middle in particular cause a I knew they were gonna have to take a shot…

Honestly, I’ve always been a Freeman supporter but I flat out lost a lot of respect for him over the last few days…He’s been here 5 years and wasn’t voted team captain for a reason; those reasons are beginning to surface…and let’s keep it real, he was given the starting position at K-State and Tampa by default…granted no one wants to get benched but man up and handle it like a pro not like a spoiled brat with a since of entitlement…

  5. Couch Fan Says:

Glennon was gettin a little bit of love on NFL Network. Were gonna be Winnin with Glennon!! GO BUCS!!

Great article on pewter report today. It’s actually gonna make you think Schiano and McNulty are the reason for Freeman’s bad play (even though I think it’s Freeman and the coaching at fault here). But an article definitely worth reading.

  7. RBellBuc Says:

If we lose this week, will it be easier to accept now that the Freeman’s days are over? I’m betting on Schiano hoping so, or why else would he have made this move early. He’s hoping by going with the rookie that if they still lose he will be protected by the fact that he is a rookie. Schiano couldn’t sweep losing with Freeman under the rug. I for one know that since the whipping boy is now gone and we still lose this week to a crappy team with an unproven backup, I will personally take it out on Schiano. If Glennon completely flubs and ends up being even worse than Freeman I …I … well there’s nothing I can do ..but I will be pissed.

  8. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Mike Glennon is gonna make people forget all about Freeman, starting this Sunday.
Tampa gets it’s first win Sunday, and hopefully many more this season.
    Go Bucs!

  9. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Like Ive been saying, If Glennon and/or the offense struggles this week, or all season, a lot of MGMers will blame Sully and the playcalling. And Schiano will DEFINITELY take a few jabs in his pressers mentioning “playcalling”, “offensives schemes”, etc. to throw Sully under the bus, and promote HIS buddy, McNulty to OC. Bank on it!

But as of now, this is just another “Makaveli Conspiracy Theory”

I still hope Glennon pulls through. And Id be ecstatic if he’s the real deal. And if he is? Then I’ll eat my words about Schiano.

Anyways. There’s still 13 games left! Go Bucs!

  10. Walter Says:

Lol the magical rookie backup is going to change everything!!! (Sarcasm)

  11. MakaveliTheDon Says:

btw, that was a good read Patrick. I felt guilty reading it though. Like I was cheating on Joe or somethin.

  12. Capt. Tim Says:

    Walter,
    Lol” magic rookie”
    Beaker the magician!!!

  13. Free's A Boob Says:

Cheating on Joe! On no he’s wed to BD…or is it house pet?

  14. MakaveliTheDon Says:

please. the BD is just Joe’s one week stand. he get his “plug” in, and he’s out!

  15. MakaveliTheDon Says:

speakin of which, its almost 10! time to hit the showers and go through some numbers!

lets go Bucs! Defense, help the rook out! Get nasty as fucc! GO BUCS!!

  16. buc4lyfe Says:

    @MakaveliTheDon

you would eat your words about schiano……aaah i thought i had allies on this site. anyway even if glennon is the real deal drafting is great but if he’s a real coach then he’s responsible for helping make glennon a better player. Thats a coaches job to win on sundays not in one week at the draft but year round. he still sucks as a coach even if he can spot talent which honestly him and chip kelly should kill it in the next few drafts being as players are coming out that they are familiar with like glennon who i tried to get to come to rutgers

  17. Nate Says:

I don’t understand why people are knocking Glennon for his lack of mobility. It’s not like Freeman was Tom Brady in the pocket or RG3 outside the hash marks. Freeman, for the most part, stood in the pocket like a statue. Sometimes he would drift back and throw a bad ball off his back foot and RARELY step up in the pocket (I think I can count on 1 hand since 2011). So why are people talking about Glennon’s lack of mobility like it’s something Bucs’ fans are gonna have to get used too? SMH

  18. BuccoDamus Says:

I forsee a convincing 1st victory for the rookie this Sunday. And that will be just the beginning.

  19. Pete 422 Says:

Glennon isn’t a scrambler, but he moved well in the pocket in the preseason.

  20. RBellBuc Says:

same here, that was a good read Patrick

  21. BullDog Says:

Yepper , Go Glennon… lmao As if this franchise could be any more of an embarrassment.. I can at least watch the defense then run to the fridge and be back in time to watch us punt.

  22. Bobby Says:

Best QB in the NFL isn’t mobile either. Peyton Manning proves that a good QB has to do a couple of things well…throw the ball accurately and know how to read a defense. It’s nice to be able to scramble but it’s nicer to get the ball out quickly so you don’t have to. Tom Brady…another QB who moves well in the pocket but not a scrambler. If Glennon can develop into a good pocket passer he’ll be just fine. Leave the running to the QB’s who want short careers.

  23. Bobby Says:

Joe, your filters suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To many posts that just disappear.

  24. Pete 422 Says:

Wirth usually just states the obvious (Captain Obvious) and never says anything I couldn’t say which makes his videos worthless (no pun intended).

Unless he knows something the general public doesn’t that isn’t hearsay (and he might) This time Dave Wirth is on a slippery slope inferring Freeman has “other problems” off the field. I hope Freeman doesn’t have any major problems and I wish him the best. Maybe he was burned out here & needed a fresh start, that happens in any profession.

  25. Pete 422 Says:

Oh & he says “we will see” referring to the read option. Yeah, right Glennon is a pocket passer & doesn’t have the wheels to run the read option. He is a pocket passer with a great arm, accurate and has a quick release. That is what this offense needs.

  26. buc4lyfe Says:

    @Bobby

you guys are so sad….now were mentioning him in the same breathe as tom brady and peyton manning? you guys are kinda pathetic and you are really reaching dont you think? when andrew luck peyton manning came out in the draft it was known what they could do no one was guessing, rg3 is a running qb but he was deadly accurate which is why he the skins gave up so much to move up and get him…you guys are so depressing….think any scheme can work for any qb lol stop looking at the qb and look at the personnel and scheme please

  27. buc4lyfe Says:

my god you guys are pathetic and simple…really gonna mention peyton manning and mike glennon because of size? and how many 6’7 qb’s in the league right now? psycho MGM is hoping and reaching so bad….you better prey to god he changes the offense for glennon because apparently you guys dont see the obviousness of this offense…freeman started to struggle after defenses realizing the weakness of it and how to play it which is why dallas clarks numbers didnt start to pile up until then because he needed an outlet…duh so slow

  28. buc4lyfe Says:

i mean what else does schiano need to win…..he is the only one saying were not good enough and we’ll get better as if were in preseason or training camp…dude had hardly anything positive to say about very many of his players this offseason except the ones rehabbing that still arent 100% taking shots at freeman and DOMINICK… schiano sucks, sending a damn muscle hampster on a go route that is the most idiotic thing i’ve ever seen but good luck glennon

Getting peppered with criticism about his 0-3 start, Schiano used a scattered-gun approach. “You can’t load an entire roster in a two-year period,” he summarily responded. passing blame to mark dominick but apparently people watch the press conferences but they dont listen

So is he and everyone else saying the roster isnt loaded because we didnt have a quarterback? if so then why were people talking playoffs last year when we knew the defense was garbage…maybe it sounds negative but didnt hear of rutgers breaking any records or winning big games EVEN THOUGH HE HAD RAY RICE…what does anyone recall him winning except usf games?

  29. Buc1987 Says:

I for one already say Sully is the main problem with the O and have said it since the Pats game. So me, I call it too right now. Before the game. I say the Bucs pull off a close game against the Cards and the O has been adjusted for the rookie. I still think that Sully IS part of the O’s problem. Send him back to Eli. Soon too.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

buc4lyfe…wow what a tirade…. Are you done bashing your team yet? Chill out already. Do you have to be like the main preacher of bashing our team? It will be okay man. It is only Friday. 2 more days to go til Schiano and your team will 1-3.

It’s going to be alright mon.

    Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right!”

  31. Buc1987 Says:

“maybe it sounds negative but didnt hear of rutgers breaking any records or winning big games EVEN THOUGH HE HAD RAY RICE…what does anyone recall him winning except usf games?”

    Wikipedia Greg Schiano.

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t care if Glennon is mobile….He can take the hike in the shotgun…..plant both feet…not move an inch and if he throws the ball acurately…it will be an improvement.
I can’t quite remember a QB missing short passes the way Freeman has. Those are the passes you and I can throw with some degree of accuracy. He overthrows tall recievers and underthrows the short ones.
I hope he is deactivated so that we can suit up someone who cares.

  33. buc4lyfe Says:

not to self buc1987 thinks im bashing the team because i dont like what front office is doing and i hate this coach, he all of a sudden thinks the only issue is the o coordinator and ex-quarterback. cant wait until sunday yea its ok all this negativity is good to people as long as media is talking about us

  34. Buc1987 Says:

“he all of a sudden thinks the only issue is the o coordinator and ex-quarterback.”

I said it’s a 60-40 problem on offense on Monday and kept saying it through the week. Not all of a sudden. 60% Sully’s scheme and 40% Freeman’s fault.

  35. buc4lyfe Says:

if you think freeman is the only one that regressed then watch this video lol all they are gonna show is the drops from last week but dont look at that even though i know its easy on your brain but check out the o line, look at carl nicks and davin joseph getting pushed around, look at doug martin blocking a linebacker and getting knocked off his feet. im just saying for all of you who think that everything is good, look at your high priced offensive line and tell me it hasnt regressed

    http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-playbook/0ap2000000251507/Playbook-Cardinals-vs-Buccaneers

last year schiano was learning so he didnt have time to coach every aspect of the team but this year he does and his imprint is all over the team this year lol i watched him last week at the game, he was as silent as a church mouse and completely calm how does that happen all of a sudden….he’s near the end also. people are saying that freeman is about to go by the bye week well guess what that would also give the coaching staff 2 weeks to get ready if he and sully get let go….i learned not to be surprised by anything in the nfl NOT FOR LONG GREG SCHIANO

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @buc4lyfe

Why would you hate Schiano?…he got rid of Winslow, Blount, Talib, Briscoe, Wright and now Freeman….these guys were all a bunch of “me first” off-field losers.
I can understand why the media is going after Schiano…he doesn’t play their games…and I can understand why fans would fall for that….but hate?….that is really strong…kind of personal.
How about skeptical, dislike, unhappy with, tired of, there are many understandiable feelings one could have….but hate?

  37. Buc1987 Says:

Carry on your tirade silly man.

  38. mpmalloy Says:

My AV program just blocked “Trojan Blackhole Exploit Kit”

More then likely it’s one of the many ads.
    …or maybe not.

  39. Buc1987 Says:

How many sacks did the Pats have?

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ buc4lyfe

You are dilusional if you think Schiano is about to be let go. The Glazers are solidly in his camp and I can just about guarantee you that he stays until the end of next year…and I believe he will be successful so…beyond that.
    Sully…may be another matter altogether.

  41. Buc1987 Says:

mpmalloy…my pc already shutdown once on the site. so who knows..

  42. buc4lyfe Says:

lol like i really care what you post from day to day but i am laughing at you for your simple minded ways of thinking…espn, nfl network, all the media are saying it so it must be true but i find it real interesting that the people who know exactly whats going on arent saying a word…and that sad part is i have to actually say it here before anyone thinks about it..

Ronde barber is the media now, has anyone been able to get him to speak on this issue that he knows so well? where did vincent jackson disappear too? theres a gag order on him or someone needs to call 911….i doubt this guy who also had holdout issues that no one speaks about because they only mention revis but think he came here to play with a rookie? i think if our best receiver thought this kid was ready he could have easily came out and eased your mind but unless i missed it i havent heard anything from him…the people that know whats going on all say they wouldnt dare say it in public because they know and like people in the organization…hmmmm but dont believe me just wait and see

  43. Buc1987 Says:

Tampabaybucfan…and to think buc4lyfe gets to live through it all…good stuff!

  44. Buc1987 Says:

More tirade on the way….lookout it could be a tsunami.

  45. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @buc4lyfe

I think some counselling may be in order….or, perhaps a very, very long vacation where there is no Directv. And, when you come back…say 2015….Schiano will still be the coach and the media will still be trying to uproot him.

  46. JT Says:

We have enogh veterans to avoid an all out mutiny regardless of how they feel about Schiano. Revis, Goldson and Jackson all want to win! Hell if Glennon can complete some passes I think we’ll be fine. We have a good shot to be 4-3 after week 8.

  47. JT Says:

Schiano kinda reminds me of Stan Van Gundy. A figure repeatedly ridiculed by the media because he refused to kiss their @ss!

  48. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll say this and call it a night….we lost 2 games…a penalty & a missed field goal…if it weren’t for that where would all the Schiano hate be? We’d be looking at 3-1.

  49. BucoBruce Says:

Glennon has pocket awareness like Manning or Brady.Glennon 3TD sunday sunday sunday!BUCS win

  50. Cmurda Says:

    Tbbf,

Exactly. The media and Schiano haters would you have you believe we got shatstomped. LaVonte knows it was a bad play and Lindell knows he screwed the pooch. Pun intended.

  51. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Wait….Glennon isn’t mobile!? Aaaaaaaaahhhhh no what will we do!?!?!?! Every quarterback in the NFL is mobile!!!!!!! AaaaaahhHhHhh! Too bad we don’t have freeman so he can mobilize the opposing defense!

  52. Bobby Says:

@Buc4IQ……So now we can’t mention Manning when we are talking about QB’s taht aren’t mobile? Sorry I offended your football etiquette moron. I think we can do fine without your moderating the posts to see if they are up to your standards. Nobody was comparing Glennon to Manning and you know that. You just wanted some attention and I gave it to you. There….now you happy? Put your Binky back in your mouth and shutup.
