Freeman Has “That Look;” Dotson Best In NFL?

August 1st, 2013

Davin Joseph has often offered telling commentary about Josh Freeman, like in March, for example, when Joseph strongly implied that Freeman gets too caught up in media commentary and statistical data.

So Joe always listens with a keen ear to captain Joseph’s assessments of No. 5. Yesterday, Joseph told the Ron and Ian show on WDAE-AM 620 that Freeman’s mind appears to be in the right place.

“Just the way he showed up to training camp impressed me a lot,” Joseph said of Freeman. He just had that look like he was ready. He had the look like, you know, he really wants to be here. You can tell the guys who are really ready for training camp, and the guys who are just kinda are here. He really looked ready when he showed up.”

Well, Joe hopes “that look” rivals whatever Freeman looked like this time three years ago.

Also of note, Joseph flat out said he believes Demar Dotson will be the best right tackle in the NFL this season.

“He has some crazy ability,” Joseph said of Dotson. “He’s a guy, I think he seriously has the potential to be the best right tackle in the league. With his work ethic, his focus, the way he comes to work every day, I think he’ll be that this year.”

Dotson has been the running with the first team in perhaps every snap in training camp. Gabe Carimi looks healthy, as well as dominant with the second team and against second-teamers.

Joe suspects preseason game performance will play the biggest role in deciding that position battle.

Glad to here Free sounds like he’s mentally ready. That’s what he needs!!!!

As for Dotson….WOW….that is awesome news. If they develop him, and he becomes that good…well, that would be tremendous! and Camiri for depth! The OL could be great if the G’s hold up. Either way the depth there should be outstanding.

I’ve got really good vibes about the Carimi trade….a 6th rounder for a quality O linemen is a steal.
As far as the “look” in Freeman’s eyes….well, we will see.
I hope Davin is right. If so, he has a second carreer as a jury consultant waiting for him.

I agree with robert about Dotson. I think RT has been the biggest position of need fpr years. The Bucs have had some really bad players there. Walker. Youngblood.

Like Joe said, we’ll see who is better during games. Penalties will be a telling sign. RT always has a higher penalty count than other positions. If Dotson can keep them low and still do his job, the future is bright!

“Joseph is just sticking up for his QB, Freeman will never get better, he will always suck forever, he can’t even read a defense, etc.”

Would you look at that? Another positive Buccaneer article with a severe lack of comments! Haha so predictable. I’m glad to see that Freeman is impressing and how about Dotson?! I would love to be able to slide him over to LT next season and have Camrini step in at RT if Penn becomes too expensive for us

  6. BFFL Says:

The best thing he could say about Freeman is that he wants to be here…that sounds a little strange to me.

Also, I remember Joseph saying Trueblood would be the best right tackle. I hope this time he’s right about Datson.

I dont think we need the best RT in the league, though that would be nice to add to this line. But I think this line is good enough right now to where if we dont hear Dotson’s name all season, which means he’s doing his job.

I think I am going to explode waiting for the season to start already.

Inside the organization, the word is that Dotson is an absolute beast. He will likely be our left tackle in a year or two. If we can escape serious injuries, we will have the best offensive line in football.
