Dominik Says Ogletree Is Shining

June 8th, 2013

The former Cowboys WR turned Buccaneers hopeful was singled out for some love

Early reports on Bucs wide receiver Kevin Ogletree make it seem like he’s no Reggie Brown. Phew! (If you don’t remember Brown, well, that’s a good thing.)

Rockstar general manager Mark Dominik praised Ogletree and lumped him in with key studs on the Bucs offense on NFL Network yesterday. The nugget was lost in the euphoria surrounding Dominik’s claim that Darrelle Revis would be in pads on Day 1 of training camp.

“An addition we’ve brought in, Kevin Ogletree, who’s really kind of showed up a lot in this offseason program,” Dominik said, referencing Ogletree among key talent around No. 5. “So we feel like we’ve got a lot of pieces in front of Josh Freeman. And being the second year in the system for him with Coach Sullivan and with Greg Schiano as head coach, we’re excited about where that’s going.”

Ogletree has looked sharp to Joe, as well, though it’s only underwear football in June. But Joe is always on high alert for these clues on what the Bucs’ brass is evaluating.

Joe doesn’t care much who’s going to win the No. 3 receiver job. It’s just good to hear the positive feedback. The Bucs need the depth.

Imagine how much more explosive our offense could be if Ogletree ends being more like the Ogletree early on with the cowgirls.. That’s exciting

  2. Couch Fan Says:

I agree. Hopefully one of these guys can lock down that position with some steady play.

    A men

QUICK!!! King should be here to bash Dominik because he made an opinion!

King’s problem is apparantly he believes a GM should never, ever, ever make one single personal mistake. Not sure what that says about the GM who brought King on board….

Good! The more weapons Freeman has, the better!

    I concur!!!

Joe should be concerned with our NO3 wide receiver position. It contributed to a large chunk of Freemans “Incompletions” in 2012

so was mike clayton- derrick ward -jeremy trueblood- quincy black on and on the guy is a great administrator and should be the team pres but he has nooooooo biz judging talent.

Mark D.’s background is not ‘a numbers guy that’s trying his hand at player evaluation’ I don’t know why people keep saying that over and over as if that will make it true. It’s the other way around He is a such a good talent evaluator he worked his way up to be a very good general manager. Maybe not a great one yet like Rich McKay but not bad like Phil Krueger, Bruce Allen.

  14. scubog Says:

Ahhhh, Phil Krueger. There’s a name from the past. You’re absolutely right Stan. Mark Dominik’s background is in player evaluation, scouting and serving as “The Turk” not bookkeeping as some apparently believe. Guess it’s because he wears a nice suit.

Actually, he’s better. Entering his 5th year he’s got the same win-loss record that McKay did at the same point, but Mark has a winning season. He has also managed the cap much more efficiently and drafted more starters.

He was a Fantasy stud occasionally. He has INCREDIBLE hands. Like Brandon Lloyd type hands. I think he could really shine as a slot reciever.

I think Tiquan is a good 4. He can back up Jackson and Williams on the outside because he has a long stride and he runs a 4.3 40.

I am happy with these 4 guys.

Best of luck to Sammie, Owusu, and the other guys trying to make the team. WR is gonna be a tough battle for roster spots. Like it always is.
