Bucs Didn’t Miss Roy Miller

December 10th, 2012

Nosetackle and soon-to-be free agent Roy Miller sat out yesterday’s game with a head injury, and the Bucs proceeded to be no less than dominant against the run and notched a stunning six sacks of Eagles quarterback Nick Foley.

Hats off to Miller’s main understudy, Gary Gibson, and Michael Bennett, who spent several snaps rushing inside.

So what does this say about Miller’s value?

Joe’s not taking a shot at Miller, just wondering how rockstar general manager Mark Dominik and Greg Schiano will assess him. Miller surely will have suitors in free agency. He’s a team-first, four-year veteran who is still just 25 years old.

Joe wouldn’t pursue Miller hard, but like Jeremy Zuttah last offseason, Miller could be a guy the Bucs try to lock up quickly after the season.

gotta make sure he doesnt over pay this guy like Q. Black. If someone else wants to back up the Brinks Truck (even if its only half full) So long Roy….

  2. Glad You Noticed Says:

Its all relative… what do you pay a guy who has missed just 2 game in his 4 years with a team, who has out played all the DT/NT of his own draft class.
Is it possible to put a price on a mind that can be shaped molded to believe in what is being taught to buy into a scheme.

How about the unique ability to be one of a few who can play the tlt nose and do it well

@ Ian’s Gay Listp & Ron’s AA Problem. How much Buck has this guy earned for his bang? Give us all your opinion. if you were the Rockstar how would you approach this.

I really doubt Miller will be worth a lot, for a guy that only has 3 sacks in his entire four year career. We could bring him back for a very affordable contract. Bennett needs to get paid. As for Freeman, give him the minimum. I like him, but he still has a lot to prove. 1. More accuracy needed 2. More consistency. 3. Needs to be a team above .500. 4. Actually get us to the playoffs. I think those are fair expectations right there.

Only 25 years old? Funny how an extra 100 LBS of fat makes you look so much older?

Run stoppers are dinosaurs in today’s nfl.

Offer Roy a team friendly contract, or draft a replacement.

@ Get The Bang……..for a guy who is balling in a contract year only (he is always injured and has missed a lot of games thru the years) but seems to be a good locker room guy and does what he is asked to do… 3yr/10 million deal..1st 2yrs salary guaranteed, no signing bonus. So $3,333,333 per year which TRIPLES his current salary. Top DT’s make $12 Milli a.. year though.

The defense did well but it was the freakin Eagles. If we won or lost the Eagles still suck. You can’t gauge on Miller being out this Sunday.
