“Panthers Win!” WTH?

November 18th, 2012

No, the Stinkin’ Panthers did not win, Chris Myers.

Joe’s not sure how many Bucs fans heard this — Joe didn’t — but it was amazing that Chris Myers, who was calling the Bucs game on FOX with Joe’s favorite, Tim Ryan, declared the Stinkin’ Panthers a winner the moment Dallas Clark got two feet down in overtime for — all together now — a Bucs win.

Joe’s good friend Jason McIntyre of TheBigLead.com has the video of Myers’ terrible gaffe.

I hate being a critic of commentators but I really thought they were high or something this game. Earlier in the game they had said Carolina had all their timeouts TWICE when they had one. Small detail but things like that do kind of water down the experience.

  2. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

There’s a reason Chris Myers hasn’t risen thru the ranks over the years. He’s as brain dead as Rock Riley

  3. Pete Dutcher Says:

Rock isn’t that bad. I don’t always agree with him…and sometimes I feel like he’s trying to stir things up like all the other loser media guys in Tampa…but he isn’t too bad.

At least he doesn’t insist on trading players if it looks like hte team is losing a game.

  4. bucfanjeff Says:

I heard it…I guess he had trouble with the White vs Black jerseys.

  5. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I didn’t hear it – too busy screaming and jumping up and down.

  6. BamBamBuc Says:

Not only the screw up at the end, and the flub on the Panthers time-outs earlier in the game, but they also said with about 4 minutes left that the Bucs had all their time-outs left as well (which they didn’t, they had used one earlier in the 2nd half). Not the best, most informed broadcasters I’ve heard. Personally, I still like when Lynch has our games.

  7. BigMacAttack Says:

They also blew it talking about the Bucs schedule saying we played the Jeys next who are 8-1. They said a lot of stupid things today and Tim Ryan hates the Bucs and knows nothing about our team. It would be nice if announcers did a little homework first. I usually like Myers when he has John Lynch to bail him out.
Today it was like a couple Carolina homers sounding stupid. Cam Newton is D bag celebrating first downs like a little bitch.

  8. raphael Says:

it was hideous…he is always messing up..

  9. Gt40bear Says:

Chirs had several gaffes today an as for Tim Ryan, well documented Buc hater. “All this talk of the Bucs offense, but they’ve only it up 10 points.” He said with derision.

  10. Adam L Says:

@Nic. I picked up on that timeout thing too. What made it all the more frustrating was hearing while we were staring at the graphic that said “CAR – 1”.

Geez. Imagine if Al Michaels said, “Do you believe in Miracles? well, I guess not….. No wait…! yes…. yes, you do!!” Different game.

  11. ladyz Says:

I just felt they both were pulling for Carolina all the way through.

    QUESTION:
Can players on IR come back in the post season? Officially, it is not regular season.

  13. Joe Says:

Can players on IR come back in the post season? Officially, it is not regular season.

    No.

  14. Pruritis Ani Says:

Yeah you can tell these two guys were not lovers of all things Buccaneer. Didn’t like this crew.. Bring back Lynch and Stockton.. Although the Maggio girl roaming the sidelines was pretty hot. Never seen her before.

  15. Tommy Boy Says:

Yea Tim Ryan was showeringCam Newton with love and was at that point 4 for 11. Truly sniffing Newton’s jock all day. Really bad tv coverage. He probably is still blowing his load over Captain Munnerlyn’s interception.

  16. Ian_620WDAE Says:

glad i wasn’t the only one irritated with Cam Newton arrogantly celebrating 1st downs like he just won a Super Bowl.

The media keeps falling over themselves trying to crown this guy, he’s a below average QB with superior athletic ability but end of the day its his immaturity that will be his undoing.

  17. Adam Says:

Amen Ian! I love that he is crashing back to earth!

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

I agree Ian. The best thing was after Cam’s celebration TeoNesheim got blocked right into his legs which brought him back to earth. I’m sure Cam’s antics peaved our defense and they laid into Cam a few times after that.

Cam just shows little if any class. When you are Brees or Manning you can act like Superman, but Cam ain’t it.

I loved watching Cam in solitude on the sidelines as Freeman lead the comeback.

Booger was gushing over Cam Friday saying he had more upside than Freeman. Cam doesn’t have the brains to be a great QB. Josh does and so does RG3 but Cam is like a little boy in a man’s game.

  19. Fish Says:

I noticed… The commentators were mediocre throughout the game, at best.

  20. ISAIAS Says:

BigMacAttack is right Cam does not have the brains like Freeman and I loved Cams face on the sidelines that face said it all. Josh Freeman keeps playing elite while face to face with defeat and come out on top that smells like a huge contract comming.

  21. Tommy Boy Says:

I tweeted this to Booger on Friday in response to his question about who has more upside. Athletically, Cam has more upside. Mentally, Freeman had him crushed. I’ll take a mentally superior slighlty less athletically gifted QB over an athletic freak mental midget everyday and twice on Sunday.

  22. Gackrider Says:

“That’s not a freeze frame” saved the day for those guys in my mind.
