Schiano Irked By Preston Parker’s Behavior

August 11th, 2012

Poor Preston Parker, in addition to his stock dropping from a fumble and a needless dead-ball penalty, things then got worse after the game.

The leader of the New Schiano Order called him out at his news conference.

“The one that sticks out to me is the early one, you know, the personal foul [on Parker,]” Schiano said. “We don’t do that. That’s not Buccaneer football. We had a quick talk, Preston and I, and he understands. You’ve got to put your own personal preferences behind the good of the team. Did a guy shove his hand up into his face? Sure he did. But that’s part of the game. You’ve got to walk away. And Preston knows that. That’s not a problem. I think there were a lot of other opportunities for guys to do that. But to that point nobody did. They walked away, which is important.”

Parker’s going to get to show a lot about his toughness as he tries to shake this night off.

Parker did not play well at all. Straighten him out coach.

Tough game for Parker; I feel bad for him. However, that fumble was inexcusable.

  3. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Something tells me Parker won’t be hanging out with Schiano tonight at the club. What a difference a year makes.

  4. Hawaiian Buc Says:

In all seriousness, one thing I really liked about that situation was Sammie Stroughter being a great teammate and talking to Parker after his personal foul. Stroughter may not even make the team because of Parker, but he was still in his ear trying to help him out. I really hope Stroughter does enough to make the team. Maybe we should put him back there to return kicks???

  5. Amar Says:

Preston Parker, your next Washington Redskin’.

  6. Child Please Says:

Preston Ding DIng parker = garbage

  7. Buc_The_World Says:

Stroughter will make the team, he is probably the best kick returner we have.

  8. Buc_The_World Says:

@Amar I live near DC and it’s funny how many Redskins fans think the Bucs are garbage but they rave about all the Bucs castaways they have gotten.

  9. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

In all fairness…Parker is a WR, not a kick returner.

And I predict Smith as our KR judging from this game…but I still want Stroughter on the team.

Only the first preseason game though. In the following weeks we’ll see players turn it around for the better…and for the worse. Parker had a bad week…he may redeem himself over the next two. He won’t be an early cut.

Double P’s got a good pair of hands and some intangables that come instinctivly. He seems to make last second decisions in the return game though releive him of those duties and go with smith or sammy the Bull

  11. CC Says:

Discipline will now be demanded. How refreshing.

  12. Architek Says:

Accountability is a mother ain’t it Preston?

  13. Andrew Says:

It’s okay. He is Spider-man on the side.

  14. OB Says:

I agree with Pete, Mike Smith is the kick returner, we will have others for backup or because he is pooped, but he proved he can run in traffic tonight.

Also Joe and Pete, what are your thoughts on even though the Fins knew the Bucs were going to run off guard on every play, they could not stop them? How much difference does Zutah (sp) make at center?

“You’ve got to put your own personal preferences behind the good of the team.” – Schiano. That is why KW is not here! If Schiano maintains this attitude throughout his tenure here in Tampa Bay he will develop a team that plays together, keeps each other accountable and they will be in every game because they will backup each other on the field. I love it.

I bet Parker lights it up second game and Tiquan not so much. For some reason that happens all the time… cant put my finger on it! lol/ugh!
