“I Want To See Who The Football Players Are”

August 10th, 2012

You want a good taste of how the Bucs under the New Schiano Order have gone back to basics?

Greg Schiano spelled it out very simply during an interview on WQAM-AM 560 in Miami yesterday. Make a tackle, shed a block, execute the most basic of football plays, and you’ll score points with the head coach.

“I want to see who the football players are,” Schiano said. “It’s not going to be an overly complicated game plan. You know, I don’t want any of the guys that we’re trying to evaluate to have indecision be an excuse for lack of performance. I want to see them tee it up and go play, and who can get off a block, who can make a tackle, who can block somebody, catch a ball and run with it and not have it be a mental thing.”

After watching the Bucs’ defense for the last 3 1/4 seasons, Joe also would like to see who can get off a block and make a tackle.

  4. Buc This Says:

Pre season games aren’t on Sunday Ticket, blacked out or not.

    But This:

Correct, but you can get preseason games online via a subscription on NFL.com.

What will the reaction be if our vaunted new offense goes three and out and hands it over to our defense to hold them to 3 points on the first possession?

  7. Eric Says:

And I thought we were looking for cricket players.

  9. Mike J Says:

You can listen to the radio broadcast on WDAE 620 online, can’t you??

  10. Oregano Says:

You can watch it on the NFL ticket Sunday am.

  11. aj Says:

Mike, no, 620 plays music or old talk shows online during the game. Though there are a bunch of tiny am stations that air the games, and usually one of them will put it online.

DC, Joe has previously asked us not to discuss how we can watch these games live on our pc, so I will respect his wishes, but if you look it will not be hard to find.

  12. Fritz50 Says:

if you’re out of town, you can stream the game from Buccaneers.com, or so I’m told, I’ve never had the chance to try it. I’d guess this is why iHeart radio doesn’t carry it (they switch to old talk programs, as soon as the game starts)

  13. aj Says:

Fritz, radio stations don’t carry the games online because it is against their contract with the NFL to do so. The NFL wants you to pay to hear or see the games online.

That’s why I said, if you look at all of the AM stations that broadcast Bucs games, there are a quite a few very tiny AM stations, and sometimes the live broadcast will slip through the cracks of their online webcasts.

  14. KFC Says:

I’m in Albania. Six hours ahead. I gotta stream it, and wait til 130 am to start
