Steve White Talks Bucs

July 9th, 2012

You want softball, weakass takes on the Bucs and the NFL?

If so, then you better not listen to the interview below with former Bucs defensive end Steve White.

White joined on 1010 AM last week to talk all things Bucs, as Joe served as fill-in host for Justin “The Commish” Pawlowski. White explains whether he thinks practice discipline will equal wins, why he’s not sold yet on the Bucs’ playcallers on both sides of the ball, as well as his takes on Eric Wright, Gerald McCoy and more. … The interview picks up about 1 minute in. I heard it live. I love when he’s on the radio. tells it exactly like it is. I’ll bet that guy has an IQ above 125

  2. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I just love Steve White too.
I agree, when a 300 pound plus man tells you he wants the chair, give it to him, LOL
I wish Tampa would hire Steve White as some kind of Coach.
I think he brings a lot to the table, besides those great Memphis BBQ Ribs:)

  3. Garv Says:

Very interesting and direct interview with someone who knows what he’s talking about.
    Good job and thanks!

    Buccaneers in 2012?

    Can’t WAIT!!!

  4. ziz Says:

Sounds like White is a believe it when I see it kind of guy. I like that. Good interview Joe.

  5. Garv Says:

Steve’s criticism’s are understandable and I heard a lot of wait and see also.
But there was also an optimistic tone.
I had to laugh at the idea of more “experts” breaking down film. Can you imagine the wannabe increase? We have “fans” or trolls now who think they know what the hell they’re typing about……..God help us all! LOL

    Buccaneers in 2012?

    Can’t WAIT!!!

Ah here goes SW goes again. He is anti bucs or seems that. Note: nothing posititive from this ex buc. SW can go to the dolphins with his takes cuz last time I remember, he was a non factor. Don’t challenge cuz I have proof and ill expose him

    Joe here,

@lamarcus – There’s positive stuff from Steve in this interview? Anyone who’s read Steve’s blog or his stuff here over the years, or heard his many interviews has heard him be both positive and negative covering many subjects.

  8. Bobby Says:

I think his points are valid. There are definitely concerns about new coordinators on both sides of the ball. I like Sullivan because he’s a West Point guy and he’s heavily into the schematics of the game. A guy that thinks ‘war games’ is going to be very good at coming up with a good game plan and trying to out guess the opponents defense. I have confidence in his ability but he has yet to prove it. Defensively there are a lot of people involved so I think it will be strong also. I’m sure Schiano and Butch Davis will be heavily involved. Still, it’s all conjecture right now. We’ll see once the season starts. I feel good about it.

  9. Oregano Says:

I once went to a fan’s personal website that documented every professional play that Lagarette Blount was involved in his entire career. It documented the game time, down, distance, wind direction, every step, juke, broken tackle, block, missed block and detailed analysis of what should have been done to score a touchdown on that given play. After about 3-1/2 minutes of wasting my life on that drivel I signed off and hugged my children.

I may be an obsessed fan, but with some the obsession is a disease.

  10. So. Ill. Bucs Says:

    @ lamarcus,

Seriously? Steve White is one of the most objective observers of football (whether it be the Bucs or not) that I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen or read. I can’t really recall him ever saying anything that was hyperbolic or nonsensical.

Any chance you still have that link? Might be good for a laugh or two.

  11. lamarcus Says:

Hey Joe and to all bucs fans and to tell y’all I’m a bucs fan by nature and reality is SW tells the truth! I don’t ant the negative about our team from anyone! Loyal! I been listen to SW since his South Fl Bulls days. SW knows what he talking about no doubt about that but comes from SW ( a Former Buc). I’ve been reading and listening to a lot ex-buc fb players opionins about current bucs status and all seems the bad out weight the good! Who wants bucs to suceed: the fans or x-players? There is no such thing as a perfect team. Is he actually sparing his time to feed the young bucs this knowledge? Or speculating like other media source! Tell SW don’t get arouse when bucs lose games! Otherwise love the Joes
