Vincent Jackson Leading Dallas Clark

June 12th, 2012

Much has been written about how Vincent Jackson has become a true leader around his fellow Buccaneers receivers with a Jerry Rice–like work ethic and attention to detail.

That’s been nice to hear and all. But Joe really was impressed by 33-year-old veteran Dallas Clark, a Super Bowl winner and a leadership type himself, volunteering today that Jackson is leading him on the Buccaneers. That’s really saying something.

Clark told Joe about his leadership style today.

“I’m not a rah-rah. I just put my nose down and just work. That’s how I lead. And so I hope guys can respond to that, just the way I’m watching Vincent Jackson work, he’s leading me, you know,” Clark said. “And Josh Freeman, he’s leading. Collectively, we’re going in the right direction.”

It’s becoming exceptionally clear to Joe that the Bucs should have a win-now offense with the talent they can trot out on the field. If Clark can stay healthy, the Bucs really shouldn’t have any weak link to their offense.

Clark drew some rare over-the-top praise from Schiano (for a receiver) today after a sharp sideline route and catch during an 11-on-11 drill. “Nice cut Dallas. Nice cut Dallas.”

I always thought the plan last year was the offense would carry the team initially while the young D grew together as the year went on. It became obvious as the year unfolded that Olson was no OC and ruined any plan this team might have had. It’s well documented the slow starts that he couldn’t figure out along with not using the best weapon the offense had in Blount. Blount had 5 carries in the season opener..5 carries ( that’s for you Joe). It’s nice the offense will be the center piece as it should while the D grows. As long as Dominik continues to improve the personal ( still need linebackers and D lineman) I see this team looking vastly different with Schiano running things with his new teaching coaches helping along the way. I for one am excited and can’t wait for training camp and the season to start to see how this team looks.

Eric Wright getting “hammered” in the comments section of the PFT article about him for his “undisclosed illness”.

Are we sure that Vincent can lead. I don’t even think he was a college captain of his team in Northern Colorado??? Some one call the GM because something is not adding up.

  4. RastaMon Says:

We need a veteran with that projection on defense….Ronde is Ronde….we need a vet like #56….ASAP

  5. Stevek Says:

Urlacher in FA next year on a big money, safe team option.

  6. Stevek Says:

Vincent Javkson leads by work ethic, and results. Stats are for studs, and I am glad the youngry train went to Washington.

Almost as of we traded Rah for Haynesworth.

  7. Tristan Berry Says:

Some of you people are really funny. *smh*

  8. Thomas2.2 Says:

Stats are for studs is right! Unless of course if we are speaking of Gerald then stats don’t matter. LMAO

I sure am glad Clark isn’t a “RahRah” guy bc they go 17-31 and finish dead last – even though they get celebrated by Joe and others.

  9. Stevek Says:

    What’s funny @ Tristan Berry?

Urlacher is “Hardy Nickerson” type of leader on a great D. 2 of the last 3 NFC Championships. Not his fault he had Grossman, and bitch ass Cutler.

  10. Stevek Says:

    Jared Allen = 22.5 sacks in 2011.

    Tampa Bay Bucs= 22.5 sacks in 2011.

GMC, light up the stat sheet like you light up twittosphere.

  11. Tristan Berry Says:

What’s funny is that we nabbed the best receiver available in free agency whle still in his prime who has earned nothing but immense praise from the coaching staff for his leadership and we have people here questioning the man’s leadership skills based on who-knows-what. Just hilarious.

  12. Drew Says:

And on the eighth day God said let there be idiots and so it came to pass. There are some here who have a very special relationship with God on the eighth day. That’s right! The eighth day!

  13. Drew Says:

    The eighth day is everyday.

  14. Bobby Says:

I’m not so sure…Thomas is pretty convincing proof that we evolved from apes….

  15. Eric Says:

Wow you mean we got some excellent players not drafted by the Bucs?

    Experienced fools gold at that.

Glad to see you guys coming around to the Eric way.

    Apologies will be accepted.

  16. Stevek Says:

    Damn right Eric.

Buy the top talent if you kind find it yourself.

GMC needs to and has the ability to play a a pro bowl level.

  17. Cmurda Says:

Name the best Bucs receivers in history and I guarantee you within 5 years V Jax will crack the top 3. Easily could be #1. Tristan is right. Its okay to be excited. Minus Bowers injury, what exactly is there to complain about? New coach is backing up his disciplined style, players are buying in, Ronde is leading by example as always, Freeman has slimmed down and is working like a beast, we got a better all around tight end that doesn’t whine, we have a Top 5 WR acquired in free agency (just typing that seems surreal), a potential stud RB and an already stud Blount, and a safety that appears to be real deal material. There are certain moments in time that you just can’t complain. You’ve just got to sit down, smile and say. Crap, this team is doing it right. 2012 season will be night and day different from 2011.

“I’m not a rah-rah”. That tells me everything I need to know lol.. I’m sold.
