  1. Stevek Says:

#5 is about to straight up piss excellence. I dare Brees to hold out.

  2. Jonny 3.3 Says:

Trent Dilfer is a big fan of Freeman. In these kind of discussions he tries to bring Freeman up every time saying he was disappointed last season and still believes Freeman can be elite. Last year at this time Freeman was his favorite player to breakout into an elite QB. It is good that the guy does not at least hate the Bucs for us fans hating on him as he sucked here in Tampa.

  3. the buc realist Says:

Well, some of think that for Freeman to be even considered elite, he is going to need a very strong play-action game. This is the main reason that we need to draft T-rich. Freeman does not sit back and dissect a defense apart like he is Brees. He needs a running game to maximize his talents. If not, he will never be the ” Franchise ” that so many have already labeled him.

  4. canadianbuc Says:

@the buc realist……If we draft T-Rich who the hell knows if freemans ever gonna get on the field because our defense will be getting eatin alive!

  5. the buc realist Says:

Did our defense get eaten alive last year. Yes. But our Offense sure went 3 and out as well, or worse threw the Int. At some point this team will need to be good at something! why not the offense?

  6. canadianbuc Says:

I think we got a huge boost with the additions of Jackson and nicks to our offense and I think our offense will be great. The thing i don’t understand is why so many people are giving up of Blount already. Personally i think he has showed us he is a beast that runs threw guys and scores TDs. You cant say that hes not a third down back YET…..I say yet because Raheem never put him in on 3rd we have to give this guy a chance. And there are going to be probably 3 or 4 good backs in the 2nd and 3rd round.

  7. Stevek Says:

    Canuck Buc,

TRich has a chance to consume clock, you know after they score.

Morris is not going to mak this defense elite.

Richardson gives the Bucs an elite offense.

  8. Stevek Says:

9 fumbles in 2 years is why Blount can’t take on the “1-A” back.

He’s not a great pass blocker or receiver.

Right now until some development he is a one trick pony.

T-Rich is all thy ad a bag of chips.

Need to have 2sets of fresh legs in this league.

  9. Stevek Says:

    Also,

Defense is overrated. Patriots did just fine without a defense.

Their 1st pick last year? Nate Solder.

    C’mon Kalil!

  10. Miguel Grande Says:

It burns my ass every time I hear Trent Dilfer talking about quarterbacks. If he’s so freaking smart why didn’t he perform on the field. I thought he was just a dumbass, who couldn’t throw a football worth a damn at the time. We probably drafted him #1, and gave him that giant contract because he interviewed so well. Then we were stuck with him. He and the head coach weren’t even on speaking terms.

@Stevek The very fact that the Ravens defense won a Super Bowl despite starting Trent Dilfer at QB, disproves your point.

I saw film of him in college and he sucked. When he played for the Bucs, our receivers would run 6 yards down field, turn around and wave for the ball, he would chuck in their general direction and they would get clobbered from behind. He destroyed Errict Rhett’s reputation as a receiver because when ER was wide open in the flat, TD would whip it at his Achille’s Tendon instead of hitting him in stride in the hands. Errict would actually stop, catch the ball flat on his back and then get clobbered by 2 linebackers. Errict was one of the greatest receivers in NCAA history.

Trent Dilfer was the worst QB in NFL history and he’s got a freaking Super Bowl ring.

  11. Lion Says:

Trent Richardson won’t help us one bit if we are down 14-0 in the first quarter because our DB’s (especially Biggers/safeties) were getting burned for long plays. That was the biggest problem last year, along with the inept coaching staff. People are crazy to think we should grab Richardson over Claiborne if they are both still on the board at the same time. We already have a damn good starting RB, and we can get a damn good one in the 2nd or 3rd round. We don’t have an elite DB now do we, picking Claiborne makes so much sense it’s not even funny. You can find a pro bowl RB in the second and 3rd easily, but if you want an elite CB you better have a top 10 pick. Plain and simple folks. All this Blount bashing is pathetic.

  12. RastaMon Says:

Trent had a great variety of passes….#1 “the blind squirrel’…it is a low ball that skips off of a defenders back….and into the hands of your TE….into the playoffs and slip on a Super Bowl ring…..

  13. Lion Says:

    @ SteveK

All this talk about Blount not being able to block or catch is pretty stupid. He hasn’t had one off season in his career yet to learn how to effectively do either one in the NFL yet. On top of that I guess you didn’t realize how bad our coaching staff was the last few years as well. The player development was horrendous on both sides of the ball.

  14. RastaMon Says:

BTW…I have the Trent Dilfer rookie player card….if anyone is interested…….

  15. Miguel Grande Says:

@RastaMon Just place the card on your windshield under the wipers at Tampa Stadium, that’s how we used to get rid of tickets. Problem was, sometimes after a game, you would find 8 tickets on the windshield when we started with 2.

On 2nd thought, if you put the card there, you might come back and find your car covered in Dilfer creamsicle jerseys and more cards.

  16. Patrick Says:

I’m pretty pissed they completely ignored the LB position in free agency. Any goofball could see that they were the worst unit last year. Quincy Black ISN’T going to be any different next year. Cut your losses and move on. Even if he did improve at stopping the run or pass, his tackling is still poor! And the missed tackles by him WILL NOT change!

  17. Josh Says:

I’m telling you. Schiano is going to use Blount as a bulldozer. Use backup un-named drafted RB as a ballbuster, and he will make Freeman use his legs to make plays. Why else would they pay $55.5555… for Vincent Jackson, and notice how Josh is 30 lbs lighter. It’s going to be a great season. The only thing I don’t like is the new Nike red uniforms don’t shine.

  18. Capt. Tim Says:

Miguel- Eric Rhett was a Rb. Not a WR.

  19. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Miguel, you are right on my friend.
My company cleaned the roof for the old D Line Coach at USF who told us that Trent Dilfer couldn’t remember the plays 1/2 the time.

  20. 941-Bucs Says:

There really is no excuse for Freeman to not succeed. Even a mediocore QB should be able to succeed with the talent placed around him.

On paper Arguably one of the best O-Lines in the business. A very deep and talented WR pool ( could turn out to be one of the better ones in the league also). We have a 1000 yard runner in Blount. Now he has quality coaches behind him also helping him develop more potent scheme’s.

I think Freeman is going to have one of the best years of his career coming up.

  21. kaput Says:

    Kool Aid drinkers abound!

Best receiving corps? Really? Jackson is a very good player, but who else has done much of anything? Williams? That’s funny. He’s an average NFL receiver, not more. And who after that is worth a crap?

The line should excel this coming season.

Blount is not a power back, he looks for holes and looks for ways to dance around and then gash the defense. We need consistent gains on the ground, not to be stuck in 2nd and 13 four times a game.

Richardson should be the pick if he’s available. Everything the franchise does needs to be focused on making Freeman an elite quarterback.

The defense is going to suck with or without the corner, a player that has little to do with stopping the run, which is the Achilles heel of the defense. And besides, this is a long term project.

  22. Stevek Says:

    @ Miguel Grande,

Patriots have won 4 more superbowls since the Ravens did in 2001.
    Let’s stay current, please.

In that time the Pats also lost 2 more superbowls than the Ravens went to.

    Bucs:

Trade down for excellent deal onlly,
    Kalil>Richardson> Claibourne> Blackmon.

Trade down only if it’s an overwhelming value.

  23. Stevek Says:

Greg Olsen kep this offense down. Tag couldn’t discipline a toddler.

We are going to be better because we are Goin to play hard, our your butt is cut. (Sean Hayneswurf… Ooopps I meant *Jones. ).

Schiano plays for keeps and will demand the accountability of his players.

So damn excited that there will be no more lunching and taking plays off.

Anybody think with a better DLine scheme, McCoy Annan stay healthy with a better technique. Optimistically awaiting GMC and Proce lining up together.

BPA all day every day, Capt. Timheem Morris.

  24. DAN Says:

please tell me ^that is autocorrect… or something on a cell phone, if not… prevent procreation at all costs.

  25. JS1506 Says:

I can’t tell where dilfer’s head ends and his pink shirt begins.. leave the tanning bed alone trent!

  26. Miguel Grande Says:

    @Capt Tim

Did you think that I could spell Errict Rhett’s name correctly but didn’t know he was a running back. He led the Gators in career rushing and receiving as a RB. Surpassing Emmit Smith.

I couldn’t find NCAA career receiving records for a RB but I once read that he was near the top.

  27. Mikeck Says:

Wow…pink shirt with a purple tie…I couldnt even hear what he said….he looks like one of the easter egs my kids found last Sunday.

  28. Bobby Says:

@Kaput…..OK, where do I start??….First of all, Blount IS a power runner. He tries to be a finesse runner and that’s where he gets into trouble. If he would just hit the hole instead of dancing around he would always pick up positive yardage. Second, Mike Williams IS a good receiver. It’s pretty common for rookies to slump their sophomore year and he did. I look for him to be back this year. Benn should have a breakout year and I liked what I saw of Briscoe last year too. V-Jax will make all these guys so much better because of the coverage he draws. Third, we DO NOT ‘need’ Richardson. We ‘need’ a compliment back and if we get Martin in the second he will probably start and make Blount the compliment back. We ‘need’ Claiborne.
