Heinous Defensive Numbers

January 1st, 2012

Yes, Joe knows the Bucs set a record today for the worst defense in franchise history for most points allowed.

Just in the past five weeks the Bucs have been freight-trained for 203 points in the past five games. Yes, 203 points!!!

Now it’s not like the Bucs played New Orleans and Atlanta every week. Included in those five chain-whippings are the likes of Jacksonville and Carolina (twice).

Those kind of results can get a defenisve coordinator fired. The heinous Jim Bates Experiment was jettisoned for less.

    Our defense was offensive…..

  2. tj Says:

Well coached teams don’t get blown out on the normal like the bucs. Look at the browns. They lose but they don’t get blown out all the time

  3. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Rah scapegoated bates for much less.

  4. BajaAlabama Says:

What defense? The Bucs haven’t fielded one for the last two years…

  5. Tye Says:

Offense is also hideous…. 1 of those scores was from an int. ( pick 6)…
Of all the games I did get to observe this year, I sill haven’t seen the big deal about Freeman…. The Bucs need a QB that can measure up with Brees, Ryan OR at least Newton….. Maybe a Matt Flynn….. Just saying!

  6. BucfaninMI Says:

The Scott Mitchell effect, Matt Flynn looked good, but no one expects him to win. No pressure to be the man.

  7. Patrick Says:

This is a disgrace to the franchise who boasted a proud kickass defense for over a decade! Shameful.

Jim Bates is a good coach. Blame Rah and Dom for hiring a DC that doesn’t even teach the scheme our players are suited for!!!!!!!!

I hear theFalcons filed a grievance with the League.

They wanted a pro football team to play to get ready for the playoffs.

  9. Everyone Have Your Brown Bags? Says:

You guys are looking at this all wrong. The Bucs D has been consistent!

  10. TurnThePage Says:

When will the Bucs fire Raheem???

  11. eric Says:

Mckay had his defense fifth in the league in 78, three years from expansion……….

    First in 79.

Who falls behind 42-0 in the first half?

  12. Bob Fox Says:

Matt Flynn’s performance today definitely proved that Tom Clements is a hell of a coach. I think Aaron Rodgers and Flynn would agree. So would Mike McCarthy. I would think the Bucs would strongly consider him to be the next head coach, especially when one looks at the major step back Josh Freeman had this season.

  13. Tampa2 Says:

Hopefully, the Glazers will see what we all see and get us a Real coach in here. They claimed they listened to the fans when they fired Gruden, so they can’t help but listen to a mutiny if they don’t dump Raheem.

****here is an interesting statistic you might want to consider on some strange level****

adam from ny has seen every bucs game religiously since they switched over to pewter & red….and has been a fan since 1979….however 10 games ago adam made a decision to no longer go to the sports bar to watch the games anymore and instead to stay home and watch via the internet….and moving foward from there, the buccaneers never won another game all season…were the buccaneers winning for adam?….are the buccaneers and adam somehow spiritually connected?….what happened here?…..did adam cut the bucs mysterious winning umbilical cord with his simple sports bar disconnect?

no, actually the bucs just really suck….but i just thought i should mention this little factoid….adam actually contemplated going back to the sports bar solely to change the bucs mojo back to it’s former self…..but adam said the heck with it and figured to stop dumping money into some crappy watering hole and sit back in his crib in his skunked underoos and just watch via the net.

    this is a true story

guaranteed in 95% of highlight reels of someone scoring a touchdown or huge play vs. the bucs, there he is…..the man himself….ej biggers getting sonned….it’s not always his fault, but in like every big play, ej is always seen missing tackles, out of position, and literally reaching at air….no one “swipes at air” better than our boy ej biggers…gotta love it.

  16. adam from ny Says:

i heard rah has the guys practice “the air swipe”…..ya know where you grab at air…lets all try it…i bet we could all look real good “gang tackling air”…..ok boys, bend your knees a little more and grab that air!
