Kirwan And Brandt Rank Bucs At No. 12

October 4th, 2011

So how good are the Buccaneers?

The jury is still out, although with three wins in a row and a proven ability to close out games it’s obvious the Bucs are better than most.

Joe knows many readers enjoy seeing what the “experts” think, and the NFL Network and NFL.com braintrust have the Bucs at a consensus No. 9. However, the two old-school personnel guys among the group aren’t as sold. Pat Kirwan and Gil Brandt have the Bucs at No. 12. Both rank San Francisco, the Bucs’ opponent Sunday at No. 20, despite their 3-1 record.

Joe’s not one to put any stock in this statistical nonsense. For Joe, fantasy football is winning a sweepstakes that sends the Bucs cheerleaders to his house for a naked badminton game.

But Joe is confident that if the Bucs take out the 49ers and take care of business against the Saints the following week, these expert types will be talking about the Bucs hosting a playoff game.

I dig Kirwin and I respect his spot for us completely. I understand the apprehension. I have my doubts as well.

If the Bucs beat the 49ers and the Saints we will move into the top 5.

If we win, we may sell out the Saints game. But certainly if we beat the Saints at home the last 3 actual home games will all be sell outs barring some sort of meltdown.

We have to win that Chicago game in London. The entire world will be watching(obvious embellishment).

    How do I enter?

  3. Dan Says:

PFT ranks the Bucs at 8. NFL.com has them at 9.

  5. kh Says:

No way we’re behind the f’n Redskins.

  6. kh Says:

    or the 49ers.

Albert Breer has the Bucs behind the Falcons?!? Shouldn’t he be paying more attention

  7. kh Says:

oh and joe fix your article, Kirwan has the 49ers ahead of the Bucs.

  8. Pete Dutcher Says:

Who cares where he ranks us??? It means NOTHING. What matters is the NFL standings, and in those we are 11th in the league and 7th in the NFC.

How can the Bucs be ranked different than what they actually are? So he’s saying we are worse than our standings say we are? Please.

  9. K2theSoldier Says:

Good enough for me, doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, we’re 3-1 and better than any team that’s 2-2 or 1-3 or 0-4.

  10. snowden Says:

if, if, if. how about we take it one game at a time and not get caught up in rankings and records? we are notoriously poor on the west coast, so let’s hope our D can shut down a resurgent Alex Smith and our O doesn’t come out flat yet again. Then look to the Saints game.

  11. Capt.Tim Says:

Snowden- you weren’t with us last year, were you? Seems Raheem and Josh don’t mind long plane flights.

  12. MOBucs Says:

The Bucs blanked the 49ers last year in San Fran. That’s pretty good for an east team traveling west.

  13. snowden Says:

i just hope they do it again. this is not the same 49ers team by a wide margin
