“Buccaneers Grossly Overachieved”

October 15th, 2011

The national media is smelling blood in the water when it comes to the Buccaneers these days.

In today’s off-the-bandwagon edition from NBC Sports, ProFootballTalk.com guru Mike Florio claims smart guys around the NFL believe the “Buccaneers grossly overachieved” last year and that should be evident for the second straight game on Sunday. And Peter King, showing perhaps one of his drunk on oatmeal and popcorn moments, seems to the Saints will win because Drew Brees lit up a “good” Bucs defense in Tampa in 2009 and 2010.

Joe sincerely hopes the Bucs take out the Saints, which also would fend off the pundits for a couple of weeks.

I am so sick of PK(in particular) an his so obvious anti-Buc bias.
I surely wouldn’t be upset if Bree’s gets put on his tail a half dozen times tomorrow – will be nice to get the ‘experts’ to stop proclaiming the death of this team. GO BUCS!

  2. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Whatever the opinions, we’ll know more about who the Bucs really are this Sunday. If it’s another manhandling by our opponent then I would agree the Bucs aren’t nearly as good as advertised. No more excuses.

Teams that beat bad opponents but get whipped by good ones are called mediocre. That’s what I think the Bucs are right now, unfortunately, because this makes two years in a row where they got their wins against teams with losing records and their losses against teams with winning records (except for the last game against the Saints, which didn’t affect their playoff position anyway).

If the Bucs get outclassed again this week I’m changing my prediction of a 10-6 season downward to a 7-9 season. Once again it looks like the Bucs are no better than the 14th to 18th best team in the league. Can you say…mediocre?

  3. Architek Says:

    @Johnny,
Why are you pouncing on the media when the Bucs are as suspect as any team right now? I’m not really excited about this year’s team because they are what they are. 8-8 so the media is on point about this team. Regression and poor coaching.

  4. d clark Says:

Honestly does it really matter? Even if we do actually beat the saints tomorrow the so called “experts” will dismiss it and say saints lost this game. If we beat houston or gb in the next 5 weeks they will say the same thing it doesn’t matter, were just going to be continually disrespected until we get some so called “high-profile stars.”

  5. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Is this headline even debatable? 2+2=4. christmas is in december. Life ends in death.

  6. FLBoyInDallas Says:

d clark: It’s not about high profile stars, it’s about high profile wins. Until the Bucs start beating teams with winning records more than once a season they don’t deserve respect. Simple as that.

  7. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I really thought we were going to be better then we are playing lately.

  8. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Predictably Thomass 2.2 has nothing to post recently until he sees this. Further proof he is just some Aints or Falcants fan with absolutely no life so that he just has to spend his free time in mommy’s basement trolling Bucs fans.

  9. K2theSoldier Says:

LOL @Thomas, NEVER POSTS A THING WHEN WE’RE WINNING, one loss and he’s right back here, what a pathetic person.

  10. Patrick Says:

    @Thomas 2.2

It’s rare that I ever call anyone out on here. I like being at peace with all joebucsfan posters.

But I just want to say, It’s not necessarily your opinions and negativity that drives people away, it’s the fact that you never post when we’re winning or something good happens.

I have to admit, I agree with some of the stuff you post. But you always repeat the same stuff over and over again and are always first in line to post some smart ass comment when we lose or something bad happens.

  11. Adam Says:

I am a season ticket holder. I am going to the game on Sunday. I firmly believe the Bucs will be murdered on Sunday and I am planning on bringing a good book into the stadium with me.

  12. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Adam- STFU- you aren’t a fan and you aren’t going to the game. No real fan would ever go to a game if they had NO belief that their team had even a sliver of a chance to win. Thanks for trolling though.

Joe- This is a good website for a lot of reasons but it also attracts all the wrong posters for all the wrong reasons ala pro football talk.

  13. Thomas 2.2 Says:

I am going to the game as well. I have only missed one so far. I actually think that they have a chance to win, albeit a very very very slim one. If rah got sick and missed the game I would substantially increase their chances.

K2: I posted during and after the Colts game, I called it Mccoy’s second good game as a pro (with the qualification that 4 of 5 colt Olineman and Peyton were out).

Pat – sorry for the redundancy, but you must remember that I respond to comments – so if a newbie says something stupid I discredit it with facts ( often ones you regulars have heard).

For example: who has been more productive as a pro? Geno Adkins a 4th round pick by Cincy out of Georgia in 2010 or #3 overall Baby-Gerald the 50 million dollar waste?

I will spare you the Suh comparisons ( Suh is nearly 3 times, yes 3 times, more productive than Mccoy. Look it up – Atkins is better also and off the charts better if you factor in money. I can make the argument that there has been no bigger waste of money so far since 2010 than baby Gerald.

  14. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Thomas- I can argue there has been no bigger waste of space on the internet since 2010 than all of your posts.

  15. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

BTW Thomass- I have no doubt you are NOT going to the game. TROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!! You don’t love this team.

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

We always have a chance to win, as long as Josh Freeman is on the field. We always play the Saints tough( and vice versa). It’s gonna be especially tough without Blount and McCoy, but with a little luck, it could be a Buc win!

  17. Capt.Tim Says:

K2 and Becklesheart- nice to see what passionate Bucs fans you are. The thing is- where have you been? You are both fairly recent posters. You weren’t here two years ago, when the Bucs were getting bashed relentlessly here. Even Thomas has been here for years.

Glad you are excited about the team. I just wonder if you’ll still be around if we lose 3 or 4 more games. Time will tell

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

No you are full of s&i% Thomas. You know you post so infrequently when we win; to try to deny it is ridiculous, even for you. We all know you are only happy when we win. I don’t know or care if you go to the games or if you are just some Falcons fan that is simply a troll. Frankly, I would have more respect for you if you were a Falcons troll.

Your interpretation of production is based on what? Stats? You know what they say about stats…, I guess it serves true in this case. You should really get over him sleeping with your woman. He’s just doing what you obviously couldn’t.

  19. Adam Says:

@BecklesHeartsRuud: Section 218 Row V Seat 1. Come by and say hi. I’m right on the aisle with my wife and buddy from high school.

… and there have been PLENTY of games where I knew the Bucs had NO shot but went anyway. I lived through the Trent Dilfer years.

So the real question is, who is the REAL fan? I go to the games where the Bucs don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. You, on the other hand, sit on a message board and rip other fans. And from the sounds of it, it sounds like you would SKIP a game that you thought your team had no chance of winning. WHAT KIND OF FAN ARE **YOU**???

There’s a term for that: it’s called “Front Running Phoney-Baloney.”

  20. McBuc Says:

You guys are funny talking about beating teams with losing records after 5 games. I guess evryone thnks ATL sucks now. Not to mention this is the NFL not the BCS boswl system. A win is a win, and all NFL teams have a chance of winning ever7y time they take the field.

  21. Jake Says:

Arguing with BecklesheartsRuud is like arguing with a twelve year old. Can’t argue facts, just likes to hurl insults. My best guess he probably is twelve years old, so go easy on him.

  22. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Adam- If you come on message boards and guarantee your own team will get murdered when they are 3-2 just because they lost last week then you aren’t a fan. Just for your information a real fan is someone who actually thinks that their team has a chance to win any game. I never count any team out. “any given sunday”.

“I am planning on bringing a good book into the stadium with me.” this is seriously the most d-bag comment that has ever been posted on here. Even Thomass has never sunk that low.

Capt. Tim- I didn’t know this website was around a couple of years ago. So what? What an irrelevant point.

  23. Pruritis Ani Says:

I think “Grossly Overachieved” is an exaggeration. If you remember last year, the beginning of last year specifically, no one really expected to have a great season. No one expected Blount to be a great back, as we were still pinning our hopes on Graham. I think Blount’s success took a lot of pressure off of Freeman and was key to his improvement last season. The team did catch a break when it came to the schedule. It wasn’t the toughest schedule but it also wasn’t a walk in the park.. This was evidenced by a few close, but key loses that prevented us from entering the post season. So, while I think we exceeded expectations last year, the success wasn’t so out of the ordinary that it should be considered an abberation. Just my opinion.

  24. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

“BTW, Ruud is having a better season than Foster. LMAO!!!”

Well we now have a new winner for stupidest comment ever. Ruud is playing horrible in Tennesse and Titan fan is looking at Stephen Tulloch dominating in Detroit and wondering what in god’s name their GM was thinking.
