Brian Price “Continues To Excel”

October 21st, 2011

When the rockstar general manager calls out players — good or bad — Joe takes notice. Mark Dominik doesn’t go there very often.

Speaking last night on WDAE-AM 620, Dominik talked about how the Bucs aren’t on a jolly ol’ sightseeing tour in England. They’re there to work and bond, and some guys are standing out among their peers.

“People think we’re out here just galavanting around the countryside. But no, we have a structured practice schedule, there’s a lot of meeting time, there’s a lot of time for every player to get together. But specifically, again, when you talk about the youngest football team in the National Football League, and for them to spend time together, get to know their personalities, certain guys have really blossomed in this week and have really shown up at practice.  I feel like Arrelious Benn and Preston Parker, Dezmon Brizcoe at receiver. … Brian Price has been a different person here and continues to excel and show up at practice. So it’s been exciting,” Dominik said.

“And all the guys gravitating toward each other. That’s what’s been great about this trip. It’s been a 100 percent business trip for us as an organization and it will be.”

Joe loves that the Brian Price story continues to roll out great new chapters. Joe can only imagine how energized Price will be after more healing and fitness time and fish grazing during the upcoming bye week.

As for the team bonding, Joe knows it’s a great thing, especially after a lockout shortened offseason. But again, Joe sincerely thinks that would get old in a hurry if the Bucs choose to play in England next year.

Always great to hear good news. The proof will be Sunday. I would love nothing more than to head into the bye week with a win, sitting at 5-2.

I’m actually glad it is a fairly early bye week for us. Price wasn’t healthy to start and I’m sure all this play time has his injuries lingering under 100%. This bye week is perfect for his body to get the rest it needs and finish the final 10%-20% healing it needs.
Then we will finally get a taste of a healthy Brian Price for the first time in Bucs uniform. I hope it is an awesome sight.
After the bye Price, Bennett, McCoy and Blount should be totally healed(little iffy on Blount considering it is a knee injury) and we can really start pounding the piss out of opposing offensive lineman.

I can only imagine how amazing a totally healthy lineup of Bennett, Price, McCoy and Clayborn is going to do to Drew Brees. I’m certainly excited.

lets not forget about Bowers! our D line could be as nasty as Detroits but they have to want it more. i love the bye week rite after London, it gives’m time to rest and heal. the Bears will be very hungry for a win considering the division their in and i hope with us in 1st place (1/2 game on the Skanks) we dont get too complacent. love this team and i hope they make the play offs. still alota season left but for now just focus on Chicago and nothing else!!! i hope Price destroys Forte!!! BUC IT IM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone catch Dominik on the radio show .. A guy named Todd called in and gave him crap about some of his late round picks not panning out … IT WAS HIS BROTHER … that was so classic Mann .. I LOL on that one

  5. thomas 2.2 Says:

Brian Price, Clay, Okam, Bennett are playing very well – lets keep them rolling. I want to see Brian Price start getting some deserved recognition, Joe gets it, but too many others think that giving him his due is a knock to someone else.

  6. thomas 2.2 Says:

Btw – Barton is right, Bowers is also playing well.

  7. McBuc Says:

Really Thomas? What are you talking about. Everyone on here roots for Price, he is a beast. You are the only one tht singles one guy out and beats it like a dead horse. You really are a complete jack ass, you mother must be proud.

  8. SteveK Says:

Thomas, nice posts buddy! Great to know you are happy with the Bucs D-Line.

I hope McCoy has a “breakout” performance for you soon. 🙂

  9. Mauha Deeb Says:

@McBuc Correct. Thomas is a classic projectionist.

  10. thomas 2.2 Says:

Thanks Steve. I dont think that Mccoy will play until after the bye, he missed practice today. I hope that he has his breakout game after the bye.

  11. thomas 2.2 Says:

Mauh- you are the biggest offender. Every time there is a positive article about Price and Okam, or even a realistic and objective opinion by Culpepper or Shawn King or Ian Beckles etc that Mccoy is all mouth – you freak out and make silly excuses and made-up stats to make-up for the obvious.

Just suck it up and admit the truth – of our 4 starting D Lineman – your baby is the biggest disapointment and if you polled all fans – a majority would say that based on play – he would be the most dispensible. Hence the 3-1 recorc and 2 wins over NO without him.

  12. McBuc Says:

Thomas, the funny thing is, you are the only one on this site that thinks that. I know a great deal of Buc’s fans that do not agree with you. The only place I even see ignorant posters stating the same type crap as you is on TBO. I am sure you are one of them under a different name. You just have some odd hatred of all things McCoy and Morris. That is why you have twisted this nice write up about some outstanding players into you negative agenda. this is my last post on this thread in regards to your foolish outlook.

My BTW…I cannot speak for Deeb, but my only issue with King’s point was that he does not think McCoy should talk without “Pineapples in his diet”, well King does not have any “pineapples” either so why should we listen to him. Brad C lost me with his cheese ball commercials, but I always like him as a Buc. I have never thought Brad was a great annalist, which is why he is still on the local channel and nowhere else. Smart player, but not a great analyst.

  13. McBuc Says:

Sorry Brian Price for letting a jack ass derail your JBF moment. Keep kicking butt, you are better at 60% than most at 100%. Great pick-up! Now, go bear hunting!

  14. Mauha Deeb Says:

Name one “made up” stat. I have statistical facts and sources to back up my sentiments, where as you just name call. You say I made stuff up, but you just created a theoretical poll with theoretical fans out of thin air. Projection much?

I do not lie or talk bad about Price. I have only said he pales in comparison so far this year compared to McCoy, but McCoy was having a awesome year so it is hard for Price, who is not 100%, to live up to that. I even said in the recent post that when Price, McCoy and Bennett are finally 100%, the play will be ridiculous.

The only thing obvious is your projection. I called you out for it, and in turned you used that projection to paint me as a projectionist. It is quite amusing how thick and obvious it is too.

I don’t care if McCoy is a bust. If a player is sucking, I’ll call them out for it. There are certain plays that I have called out McCoy for blowing assignment or just not doing enough. But overall his positive plays far outweigh his negative ones.

Dude, you really sold yourself out with this post.

Someone already called you out for being the biggest offender, and in turn you deflected that onto me. I am actually astonished by how obvious it is.

I am starting to entertain the idea that “Thomas 2.2” may be a made up entity by one of the Joes. Of Course this is only speculation. I even had a conversation about it with the guy heading the first Blackout tour of the year. He is the one who brought it up and he knows Joe personally. If its true, well played. It is working.

  15. SteveK Says:

We’ve got a conspiracy theory on our hands.

  16. McBuc Says:

LOL, right on Deeb. I have thought that before. Joe has denied it before as well. Maybe it is Niko’s evil twin brother.

  17. Mauha Deeb Says:

When I said “I don’t care if McCoy is a bust” I was implying that I have no emotional ties to him as a player. If he starts to suck, I’ll rail on him too. I did the same with Black and Stylez White who played fair , but turned terrible. I then started calling for Watson and Bennett. Both were smart moves.

I am consistent. I don’t care who the player is. If he gives us the best shot at winning I wan’t him in. If he isn’t playing well, get him out of there.

  18. SteveK Says:

And for the record, Shaun King’s opinion means diddly squat. As mentioned, he is allergic to pineapple.

Also, his hands were too small to hold the football, hence his fumbling problem. He couldn’t give us one TD against the Rams in the NFC Championship Game. Boo on King, he seems to only preach about his sour grapes.

  19. Mauha Deeb Says:

lol I feel like Herman Cain- “Now, I don’t have any facts to back this up but” I feel it might possibly be one of the Joes. Understand that it is just a thought. I don’t think Joe would do that personally, but I don’t know him personally. People who do think its plausible lol

I hope I am not crossing the line, Joe. Let me know.

  20. BecklesHeartsRuud Says:

Muaha- Thomas is a real person. Just ask his mom, who’s basement he lives in. I imagine the basement is covered with posters of Gerald McCoy all full of darts. Expect to see an article about Thomas jumping off the skyway bridge if McCoy someday earns a pro bowl berth.

  21. Joe Says:

I am starting to entertain the idea that “Thomas 2.2″ may be a made up entity by one of the Joes.

The Joes have FAR better things to do than to be the leader of a crusade to run GMC out of town.

  22. Mauha Deeb Says:

@Beckles LMAO! “Just ask his mom…”

    @Joe Exactly as I assumed.

  23. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Here we go again with more Thomas ruining another post. In reality, wanna-be Mrs. McCoy, you are the one who is taking the credit away from Price by constantly bringing up McCoy. You take the attention away from him and back to your weird, scary, “I have special feelings for McCoy but don’t want to admit it” thoughts.

And as for your poll, let’s do that. I doubt Joe wants to deal with your rubbish, but if you are correct, where are all your supporters on this site? This site is a great representation of the Bucs fan base, so it should give a real good indication of what the fans feel. But then again, it’s not like that would stop you. I can guarantee you that upwards of 90% would disagree and call McCoy one of our best defensive linemen. Then again, those people probably watch the game, and keep their “special feelings” out of it.

  24. FreemanBomb5 Says:

I think that overall McCoy is our best linemen, he was having a ridiculous season disrupting plays. I’ll be happy to have him back hopefully Cutler throws alot of those falling away back foot lobs and Talib or Tanard makes a splash pick six and it happens in dam London instead of here..ridiculous but at least now won’t blackout

  25. Bobby Says:

No question…McCoy is the best D-lineman hands down. He was obviously haveing a great year before this little injury and I’m sure he’ll get right back into the swing of things after the bye. Smart to keep him out this week. No sense in aggravating the ankle.
