“Assaulted”
October 10th, 2011Joe can’t really remember a Bucs team getting manhandled like it did yesterday. The Bucs simply got punched in the mouth by Frank Gore, got slapped in the face by no less than Alex Smith.
It was simply stunning to watch how a Bucs team that likes to play violent was beaten up and had their lunch money stolen from them by a San Francisco street gang known as the 49ers.
This scene was not lost on veteran St. Petersburg Times columnist Gary Shelton, who seemed taken aback by the Carnage at Candlestick.
The Bucs didn’t just lose to the 49ers on Sunday. They were clobbered. They were assaulted. Along the way to a 48-3 drubbing, you hope they had the common decency to be embarrassed. It was men vs. boys. It was trolley car vs. pedestrian. It was bug vs. windshield.
It was 48-3, and it was as bad as any defeat in Bucs history.
Soon, maybe somewhere around Thursday, 49ers running back Frank Gore will clean the last of the Bucs defense from the bottom of his cleats.
For a team that likes to brag it plays violent, it simply had the tables turned on them from the first play of the game. Joe prays that LeGarrette Blount is not seriously injured because if he is, the next few weeks could look all too much like a flashback to the frightening 2009 season.

Will someone be polite enough to fill me in on the injuries from this game? I started drinking heavily after the 1st quarter… I hear McCoy has a really bad ankle sprain, but I didn’t know Blount was hurt as well. What’s the deal with him?

And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade the first pick of the 2012 draft to the……. LOL. Not that bad but…….. We better do something. Sucks living in Southern California right now. I’m a lone Bucs fan right now and afraid to go back to work. Three games I hated , raiders in 99, raiders in 08 and now this. Oh wait four games, forgot about chargers 08. What do we even do now? Our play were so high school I had to turn it off after it was 31-3. Josh has made bad decision after bad decision. And our secondary is getting creamed lately. Our scheduling has been brutal since morris took over, and the london home games need to stop. Oh well I’ll stop whining now. Go Bucs!

The biggest weakness on D and the Team is the secondSCARY.
Mack, biggers etc are no namers and don’t have much talent. They wouldn’t be starters on other teams.
Our LB’s aren’t far behind. Geno hayes quit on several plays.
Sean Jones blows.
Barber does need to retire.
We need some vets next season, spend more money and get better at LB and CB/FS/SS.
Am I mad?

Chris … Who are the teams with the Mega-Talent at Nickel and Dime Back ?? Are problems are with our starters .. Talib especially … But Barber just had an awesome game … When is the last time Talib had 5 pass deflects in a game ??
OLB,CB and SEAN Jones needs to be updated
But Elbert Mack and Biggers are from the biggest problems
Myron Lewis was supposed to be the starter pressing Barber ..

Is it possible to get anything related to the next game? I understand this is a huge deal in the media, but I wouldn’t mind hearing something, anything else.

@jvato The first game of this season he had a INT returned for a TD and 6 picks. Last year Talib had 2 ints(one returned for a TD) and 2 PDs against the Cardinals. In 2009 he had 3 ints and 3 PDs against Washington. He has a few unbelievable games. The bad is recent to this year. This was the worst of his career by far, as it was for everyone on the roster. His coverage has been solid in every other game this year. My only knock on him was his penalties(same with McCoy) before this game. Everyone flat out looked lost yesterday.

Why are the safeties and corners being forced to make tackles past 15 yards. Someone up front is not stopping the running backs and they have a full head of steam grinding on our DB’s. I appreciate the dbs’ efforts and game but someone needs to work harder and smarter up front to help them out.

@toolman That is what we get with a rotation that does not include McCoy. Hayes is not very good at his job, Foster is green as beans, and neither PRice nor Okam have been good in that aspect all year. McCoy has been the main cog in our run defense.
He needs to get better and stay better quick.
