“I Can Do Better.”

September 25th, 2011

The Bucs defense came out possessed today and Joe was both impressed, and excited.

Part of that was the play of linebacker Dekoda Watson, who made his first start in place of the injured Quincy Black.

Watson made an impact right away when he hurried Matty Ice into a bad pass.

But Watson was less than thrilled with his play when Joe caught up to him after the game.

“Personally, I felt like I can do better,” Watson said. “There is always room for improvement. I felt like there were plays that I could make.

“You don’t want to just get heat on the quarterback. You want to get him down and help out the DBs. But, hey, the final outcome, a win is a win. We have to come back and be prepared for next week.

Atlanta “has a good offensive line and Matt Ryan is a smart player. He makes plays. We respect him a lot. At the same time, we have to make plays.

“I think we came out pretty strong in the first half and that was the biggest thing. We were firing and that shows it should be the way we should come out each week.”

i agree with tony watson does deserve another start after today, epsecially since this was the least amount of rushing yards we gave up since 2008 i think? besides i was never high on black anyway

Great game, and impact player!! Man, he made a huge difference today! Having a REAL Sam LBer just energized the entire Defense. Dakota had his nose in the backfield- and was stuffing the Run!! Today we played the best defense we’ve played in years, and Watson a big part Of it.

Both Watson and Haywood played well. Both Black and Hayes need to stay on the bench .

I’m sorry, but why the hell did we give Quincy Black a big ass contract again? To do nothing and let Watson make him look bad??!! Keep Watson in!

We did a better job of stopping Micheal Turner and the falcons offense with this LB core than we ever did with Joe’s hero , Princess Ruud.

I wonder if Joe was given a , “Ruud Awakening” ? lol

Why they gave Quincy that contract is a huge mystery to me. I think yesterday was proof of what many have said for two years. Quincy won’t play Run defense. He starts two games- we are 31st against the run. He sits one game, and the defense allows 31 yards! That would have us at #1 in run defense. The only line up change was Quincy.

We have sucked against the run all of last season, and this season up til yesterday. Fans have Blamed the D-line, Ruud, etc. The biggest problem in our run defense is Black and Hayes. Always has been. If they put Black back in the lineup, watch our run stopping woes return.

And sadly, for reasons I’ll never understand, I bet they put Quincy back as a starter, as soon as he feels ok. And they’ll be running over us again!

This kid needs to be starting every game. Sorry Black but you just never lived up to your billing OR paycheck
