Official Attendance: 49,313

August 18th, 2011

Last year the Bucs drew 41,000+ in their blacked out preseason home opener against the Chiefs.

Attendance is improving.

Tonight against the Patriots, the official crowd tally was 49,313.

Off these numbers, it’s pretty safe to assume the Bucs’ season ticket base  has increased about 15 percent over last year. Joe’s pleased that a 10-6 season at least had some impact at the gate, though the Bucs are a long way from a Lions-Bucs opening day sellout on Sept. 11. That blackout miracle is not happening.

With an early September 1 o’clock start for the opener, and Games 2 and 3 at home against the Falcons and Colts, Joe’s just not seeing a rush of fans running to play 12th man in less than three weeks.

This really bums me out. If I had the money I would buy season tickets but I just don’t.

    Ditto.

I’ve said this before and I know I come across as prejudice but this is just my observation. The north east must not be a very desirable place to live because so many of them end up here. That is why we had 8,000 more tickets sold tonight than we did for the KC game.

Hey Joe… Did you think for a second of all the stupid New England transplants that live in Tampa? At least 20% of the stadium were Pats fans, maybe more. I wonder how many Cheifs fans were here last year…

Attendance is not improving at all. Next week a good 1/3rd of the stadium will be Phins fans.

This ass whipping by the Patriots will not do wonders for attendance in Tampa. Tampa is, and has long been, a bandwagon town, full of yuppies from other places who will fly their stupid little car flags when the Buc’s win, but jump off the bandwagon, and back to their true love team, when Tampa loses. I was not at the game, but was told there were nearly 1/2 New England fans there ?

    Joe here,

@AppleRoofCleaning — Didn’t see any big amount of Pats fans there.

Joe – Try going to a game instead of taking your cues from a twitter feed. They were all over the place.

    Joe here,

@JoeBlows — Joe was at the game with binoculars. Didn’t seem like any out of the ordinary number of visiting fans for a Bucs home game. Sorry you’re such a bitter cat.
